...IT'S THE FANBASE! Most of them have no standards or actually care mainly b/c WWE is all they watch and never venture past that fence to see elsewhere. So, they have to like what you like or else they are wrong for finding entertainment where they find it? Are you sure it's them who are being narrow-minded?

It was so good to see Trish return on RAW tonight in Toronto!
Who else would love to see Trish vs. Beth at WM 25?
And in the pipedream department, has there ever been any dialogue about bringing Trish in for one Shimmer taping? I'm not sure if she has been WWE property this entire time since her retirement or if she works per appearance or on some type of short term deal with Titan.

No....I was saying that a good portion of the fanbase either don't care that much or complain about how bad a match/a wrestler was....only to go right back the next week. So when the division seems so bad to where they really start burning up, they still go right back without making any effort to look elsewhere

The Diva Search is no more? THANK GOD!!!!!!!! To me, the problem isn't entirely the "Divas" -that is the models- IT'S THE FANBASE! Most of them have no standards or actually care mainly b/c WWE is all they watch and never venture past that fence to see elsewhere. They're still doing the Diva Search but it's not on TV anymore. They show it on wwe.com. Yea the 2007 one was on WWE.com Which Eve Torres won, but 2008 has not had a Diva search and it ends in a little over a week. So as of now the Diva Search is pretty much dead.

Yay! I guess they're sated with the models they've assembled. Not to mention that it's pretty much stacked as it is there and in FCW.

What I find funny is people who have never posted on the SHIMMER forums EVER or at least in a long ass time, suddenly emerge when there is a discussion on the WWE divas, how ironic. You know, I have no problem with the WWE womens division. Sure there may be an uneven ratio of Wrestlers to Models, but it's a lot better now. Just look at some of the women, Natalya for one, arguably one of the best female wrestlers in the country, if even the world. That's called a waste of talent.

You would be surprised how many supposed wrestling fans watch only WWE and nothing else. They don't watch ROH, Shimmer, joshi or other Japanese wrestling, not even TNA. There's more out there than you think.

I'm not sure if she has been WWE property this entire time since her retirement or if she works per appearance or on some type of short term deal with Titan. Trish isn't under contract to the WWE so there's nothing preventing anyone from using her. But she's not interested in being a wrestler anymore. She's married now and opened up a gym north of Toronto and she has her TV series on Travel Channel. It wasn't surprising to see her turn up on last night's show but it's a one shot deal. And Trish & Beth have known each other for years. Both were trained by Ron Hutchison.

Still, and angle where it turns out Trish was the Splinter to a group of Canadian Ninjas would be quite awesome

The reason that most fans watch only the WWE, is because it has been estabished for many years on Monday Night TV. Besides, it's only a click away on the TV. Many of those whom only watch the WWE, have absolutely no idea on how many other good wrestlers are out there working. And as crazy as this sounds, many have never heard of Shimmer, although Shimmer has been going very strong for over three years. As for Trish, Monday Night was a one shot deal and it happened to be in her hometown of Toronto. The WWE will always be greatful to Trish, because she made the WWE a lot of money.

You would be surprised how many supposed wrestling fans watch only WWE and nothing else. They don't watch ROH, Shimmer, joshi or other Japanese wrestling, not even TNA. There's more out there than you think. I'm actually not surprised by that. I have noticed an almost resistant reaction to suggestions about trying something outside of WWE for any myriad of reasons from supposedly hardcore, long-time pro wrestling fans. In fact, some of them consider their regular viewing of Impact to be going against the grain. One of my favorite reasons I often hear or read from someone who "loves pro wrestling," but refuses to watch Japanese wrestling is because he cannot understand what the commentators are saying. I think that excuse is laughable... and flawed when you consider that we attend live shows where we hear no commentary. So I understand that perspective. Particularly when the person constantly complains about the presentation of women's wrestling in WWE or TNA and states that he or she wishes they would treat the divisions better... but won't give an actual women's promotion the time of day. Those closed-minded fans are out there in droves, and kind of just have to be left to their own miserable devices. One of the disservices we as fans of alternative pro wrestling, often do for those other niches in the genre is when we come across as too preachy, overbearing or fanatical. We forget that, our perspectives aside, for example, SHIMMER or joshi puroresu are only better than the Divas and Knockouts in our opinion. In reality, it's only different.
