I had debated about posting anything concerning this after the show, but since I had so many fans asking me about it at the after party, I felt I should be totally honest and up front with our fans concerning Rebecca Knox.
We booked Rebecca Knox for April 26th. She didn't come. The exact details of her thought process, or what's going on otherwise with her in life, I'm not exactly sure. All I can say is Rebecca was in contact with both Danger and I roughly six weeks ago and agreed to do the show, and we had everything set for her return. This was about the same time that ChickFight announced her to return on their show which is coming up this weekend in the UK. Shortly thereafter, she ceased regularly keeping in contact with wrestling people in general.
We received no word from Rebecca prior to the show that would indicate that she had changed her mind, or that she wasn't coming. We just adjusted the card on Saturday afternoon to accomodate her absence.
I got a text message today (Monday) from someone who heard back from her about not being at SHIMMER and concerning whether or not she plans on showing up for ChickFight this weekend, and the message that she sent to that person was "right now, pro wrestling isn't for me." Please don't take this as a "she's not going to be at ChickFight" announcement, because maybe she will be at their show this weekend. It's closer to home. That is between Rebecca and ChickFight management to settle. I hope, for the sake of the fans who bought tickets to their show when she was announced for it, that she does indeed make it.
I wanted to post this now to give some sort of an explanation to fans of hers who were perhaps wondering "why didn't SHIMMER bring back Rebecca Knox for 4/26?" We simply book the talent that we wish to use for each show. After that, it's up to the talent to actually honor their commitment.
We wish Rebecca well in her future, whether she decides that it will involve professional wrestling, or if she chooses to put her focus on other interests from this point forward.
