5. How did you first learn about SHIMMER?

Being friends with The Radiant Rain and her telling me that Shimmer was the best women's wrestling around. And she was totally right.

6. What was the first SHIMMER DVD you purchased, and when did you buy it?

Shimmer Volume 1 when I attended my first taping (Volumes 3&4)


7. Which Volumes of the SHIMMER DVD series do you currently own?

All the volumes available as of the date that I post this.

8. Which are your Top 3 favorite Volumes in the series?

That's a tough one because I've liked them all, but I'd have to say Volume 7, 9, and 6.

9. Who are your Top 5 favorite SHIMMER wrestlers?

In no particular order of rank(so's not to offend anyone) Rain, Lacey, Allison Danger, Daizee Haze, and Malia Hosaka.

10. Who do you think is the best heel in SHIMMER?

Malia Hosaka - she is a text book example of a heel. From her mannerisms to her offense to the fact that she is one of the only heels that none of the fans ever cheer for, even for the sake of going against the grain. That particular fact is what I believe makes her a great heel. Some heels on the roster seem to elicit too positive a response, as though they were more tweeners with heelish tendancies than full fleged heels, but you always know where Malia stands. She hates you, and you believe it.

11. Who do you think is the best babyface in SHIMMER?

Daizee Haze. Like Rocky Balboa or Rey Mysterio, Daizee is the ultimate underdog. Many of her opponents can easily overpower her on size difference alone, but, she has the heart, determination, and the technical prowess of a Mike Quackenbush to defy the odds and snatch victory from the jaws of defeat. Rare is the occasion when the entire crowd isn't behind her 100%, and that only strengthens her will to win. Plus, she advocates peace and love, which are both noble causes.

12. What are your Top 3 favorite SHIMMER matches?

The Minnesota Home Wrecking Crew(Rain, Lacey, and Jetta) vs. Daizee Haze, MsChif, and "The Jezebel" Eden Black on Volume 16- based entirely on the Chikara-esque craziness that it was.

Allison Danger vs. Cindy Rogers Street Fight on Volume 12 - Danger proved she didn't need weapons to beat Cindy Rogers, even when they were available for her to use.

Sara Del Rey vs. Nattie Neidhart - it's hard to find the words to describe a battle between two truly gifted combatants such as Death Rey and Nattie, so I won't even try.

13. Who do you think has the most promise out of the wrestlers who debuted in SHIMMER during 2007?

Alexa Thatcher. Her match with Cheerleader Melissa at the most recent taping is the single most telling piece of evidence of future greatness. Melissa is second to none, and Alexa gave her a run for her money. I think we can expect great things from Alexa Thatcher. No doubt in my mind.

14. Have you been to any of the SHIMMER tapings live? If so, which ones?

The only taping I have not attended thus far was the first one in November of '05. Other than that, I haven't missed one yet.

15. What is your favorite wrestling promotion (other than SHIMMER)?

Chikara - I like a good blend of comedy and wrestling, and Chikara definitely fits that bill.

16. Did you follow American women's wrestling prior to becoming a fan of SHIMMER? If so, how long have you been a fan of American women's wrestling, and which companies did you watch?

I've watched women's wrestling since I was a kid. WWF/E and WCW(when they had it)were my main sources of women's wrestling. I was a big fan of Wendi Richter, The Jumping Bomb Angels, Madusa, Aja Kong and Akira Hokuto(at the various times they appeared in either promotion). Other than that, my only other source of women's wrestling was the short lived WOW: Women of Wrestling from late 2000/early 2001, which I thought had real potential, but for whatever reason didn't get over with the wrestling fan nation at large.

17. Do you follow foreign women's wrestling? If so, what companies do you watch?

I'm not sure where to look to follow the foreign women's scene, but would love to know what they are up to should I ever be pointed in the right direction to have a looksee.

18. Do you closely follow any other American women's wrestling promotion(s)? If so, which one(s)?

Not sure where to look for other promotions outside the Midwest, but like my response to the foreign promotions question, I'd probably look in to them if I was pointed in the right direction.

19. What wrestlers would you like to see in SHIMMER who have yet to appear on our DVD series?

ODB and Alere LittleFeather

20. Other than DVDs, what other types of merchandise would you like to see offered by SHIMMER?

T-shirts in extended sizes(XXL or XXXL, preferrably), baseball caps, action figures, trading cards, a year book featuring the entire roster similar to what Chikara does, a replica Shimmer Championship Belt. In a truly ideal case, a Shimmer video game for console or PC.

21. If you could change one thing about SHIMMER, what would it be?

One thing that I have noticed is that many times the first volume taped at a given taping is booked so strongly that the second volume, which is booked just as strongly, suffers a bit because the crowd is so drained from the total awesomeness of the first volume of the night, that they might not have enough energy left to get through the second one and make it not seem as hot... or the semi-main event ends up being so good, it overpowers the main event(a couple of examples would be MsChif vs. Kong on Volume 9, The Minnesota Home Wrecking Crew vs. Chif & Melissa on Volume 8, Daizee and K-Nox on Volume 5). I am by no means complaining about how the shows are booked because I think they get better and better each time there's a taping and Dave and Co. are very masterful in their match making abilities, I just wonder how we can acheive balance so the odd numbered volumes don't overpower the even numbered ones from the standpoint of fan energy levels.

I've liked what I've seen out of European workers Wesna, Jazzy Bi and Blue Nikita. If her contract allows, I would love to see Gail Kim matched up against some of the SHIMMER wrestlers someday.

I'd honestly make the number one priority growing the fanbase before I would worry about merchandise.

21. If you could change one thing about SHIMMER, what would it be?

"Five minutes have gone by in this contest, X minutes remain." This is the most annoying habit in indy wrestling. It completely takes me out of the match I'm watching, and makes me want to strangle the announcer with his own microphone cord.

There was a time when WWE had more actual women wrestlers -Madusa, Bull Nakano, Molly Holly, Trish, etc.. Most of the time now it is very weak, using "divas" instead of trained women who have a desire to wrestle. The image is portrayed as sex objects rather than athletes. We rarely even watch WWE programming. Back in the day, GLOW was fun to watch as well.

Individual wrestlers' t-shirts available, currently only a few of the wrestlers offer t-shirts.
Making them available through Shimmer/ROH would be convenient.

I know some may disagree with me here, but I would like to see only one Volume taping per show. I feel as a fan I get more than my money's worth out of seeing one show. I find myself somewhat exhausted for the second volume, the crowd also loses some steam.

The last four. It's been the most pleasant and satisfying live wrestling experience in my 22 years as a wrestling fan. It's a great evening of wrestling.

15. What is your favorite wrestling promotion (other than SHIMMER)?
Good question. Probably ROH, although I don't follow it religiously or regularly .

16. Did you follow American women's wrestling prior to becoming a fan of SHIMMER? If so, how long have you been a fan of American women's wrestling, and which companies did you watch?
Yes, I first noticed performers like Lacey & Rain and some of the Canadian talent on the glorywrestling site in 2002. I watched some of the IWA Mid-South women's stuff that pre-dated Shimmer.

17. Do you follow foreign women's wrestling? If so, what companies do you watch?
Not closely anymore. I used to love GAEA but also followed A to Z and AJW. I've been meaning to check out ChickFight's UK stuff and maybe Mariko Yoshida's Ibuki. I follow the Canadian scene more closely than anything else lately. Ontario has, and has always had, a hell of a lot of talent. ALF out of Montreal runs montly women's shows with increasingly solid talent.

18. Do you closely follow any other American women's wrestling promotion(s)? If so, which one(s)? Not really. IndyGurlz seems the most interesting, but I haven't checked it out.

19. What wrestlers would you like to see in SHIMMER who have yet to appear on our DVD series? Wow. I'll take this question to mean realistic options. Melissa Stripes. Mariko Yoshida (she's wrestled in the States a handful of times and is still one of the best in the world). More Canadians: Danyah, Cherry Bomb, Vanessa Kraven, The Fox, Stefany Sinclair.

20. Other than DVDs, what other types of merchandise would you like to see offered by SHIMMER? No idea. I'm too old for wrestling merch. Shimmer Soy Milk has a ring to it, however.

21. If you could change one thing about SHIMMER, what would it be?
Now that's tough. Shimmer really is one smart and well booked promotion. I simply love the serious manner with which the Shimmer belt has been booked. Perhaps a bit more emphasis on storylines--nothing hokey, just a bit more emphasis on feuds. Obviously, more shows would satisfy me, but I don't object to the company's business model. Don't forget Tag Team belts that look good on Lacey & Rain.

These days? None. I used to visit glory but not regularly in years. I am registered with the Chicago board, but I don't visit too frequently.
