So, Emi Sakura is the new EVE champion? That is VERY surprising. I hope Nikki gets it back and gets a good reign. After Nikki, the next person I would like to see holding the belt is KLR.

Viper impressed me. She now seems to be at a level in which she could give anyone a good battle. Her 2 different finishes in the tag matches were very convincing and its hard to see anyone kick out of them. She is big, but seems to have plenty of power to go with it, a decent level of agility and a good variety of moves and skills. Quite likeable and good looking for a larger girl whether as a heel or face. She seems to have worked hard over the last year or two and her in ring perfomances are far better...than they appear in older videos of her wrestling. well worth having her on any wrestling card in my view.

Aye, Viper was the highlight of the night for me. I've been sold on her as a wrestler pretty much since she debuted in Eve, but tonight she also showed a lot of confidence and charisma on the mic' too. Overall, I'm pretty split on the show. The part of me that can just appreciates awesome wrestling knows that it was a great show. But the part of me that buys into the kayfabe, and was over the moon (all-too-briefly) with Nikki's win was proper, proper gutted that she then had to drop the title three minutes later.

Announced to the live crowd after the show - the Sakura/Storm rematch will take place during the February 2nd/3rd weekend, when they tour Preston and Blackburn. Then on February 23rd, back in Sudbury, it will be WAR GAMES - Team Alpha vs. Team Storm.

Proof that Nikki Storm was, in fact, champion for a bit...

I loved it. Her arrogance was her undoing and she payed for it. This can only mean good things to come for the EVE women as far as traveling to Thailand and/or Japan (hopefully!). Solid show top to bottom. April Davids continues to be criminally under-rated, I LOVED her tag team with Yoney. Kay Lee Ray against Emi was criminally fantastic and to think she's still learning and growing as a wrestler is amazing. Really impressed with the Owens Twins, they have a great look. Everyone did an awesome job. April Davids and KLR to SHIMMER~!

Do you really think that whether they gave her a fake pro wrestling title would have any bearing on whether she gets EVE girls booked internationally? Either she likes them and thinks they should be given opportunities, or she doesn't.

Considering that Ice Ribbon and Gatoh Move are the ones who approached EVE and not the other way around; and considering that if Emi didn't like EVE they would hardly have set up a JWP title defense on the show.....
Seriously. Way to sound snotty as all get out. "Gave her a fake pro wrestling title"? FFS, okay, all pro wrestling titles are fake. Lets shut down EVE, SHIMMER, FF, etc. etc. Game over, turn the lights out, thanks for enlightening all of us that pro wrestling titles are fake.

So, two days later and I'm nearly over the events of Saturday. Nearly.
As I mentioned immediately after the show, I've got quite contradictory feelings about how the show went. The wrestling was, for the vast majority of the matches, excellent. Indeed, there was barely a match that could even have been described as simply average, as most of the action ranged from very good to absolutely phenomenal.
Where the show didn't quite work for me was the booking. For one thing, it was one of those nights where, with the exception of a couple of matches, all the 'wrong' people kept winning. Now obviously, a lot of my disappointment in that regard simply comes down to my own personal preferences. But there are other factors to consider too.
The Blossoms going out in the first round of the tag-sort-of-tournament was a shame. Given this was their last appearance prior to British Bootcamp airing in January and their possible progression to TNA's main roster, it would have been nice to see them in two matches on the night. And to come out on top in one of them.
With regards to the subsequent tag-match, I'd have been happy for any of the three teams to win. But I was less happy that Rhia and Ayesha's appearance ended up being little more than a cameo. More puzzling was Rhia's statement as they walked out that they had already beaten the Blossoms so were already in the tourny. Which is true. But then begs the question, what were they doing in this match in the first place, then?
Shanna vs Janey was a good match, although I hoped/expected a little more focus on Shana's long awaited return to an Eve ring. A win on her comeback seemed appropriate, and as it turned out, the actual pin/cradle that won the match for Janey wasn't very convincing.
Erin vs Fiona Fraser was the only less-than-solid match of the night. Not awful by any means, just a little off kilter at some points during the action.
KLR vs Emi was, of course awesome. However, once it had been announced as a JPW title match a few days before the actual show, we already knew what the outcome was going to be. Knowing that did take a little edge of the match cos it was always going to a matter of when, as opposed to if KLR would lose.
Kirsty Love and Blue Nikita put on a proper face vs heel match that had everything except the triumphant ending for Kirsty. I just thought Kirsty was due a big win, and she's definitely at a level now where a win over Nikita wouldn't have been completely implausible. Plus, that's twice now I've seen her do the moonsault she only learned a few months back and that's twice she hasn't won with it... which hardly seems fair, after all her hard work!
Angel and Carmel becoming Angel/Angel vs Carmel/Sarah was good stuff, although again without the 'happy' ending. Still, to be fair, if Angelina had won, I guess Eve would have been accused of being predictable. And I can't be the only person who suspects that Erin was not originally going to be Angelina's partner for this match.
Viper and Bette's win over Davids and Yoneyama ended up being my highlight of the night. Not in terms of the match itself (although it was very good). But moreso, it was about the result. After a couple of heel wins (and the faces who had won, I hadn't wanted to!), I needed something to really cheer for. And that's what this result was.
That said, I did cheer even louder after the result of the following match. Very loudly indeed. Which was understandable after a fantastic match with a deserved winner and VERY worthy Eve Champion. I know Nikki's a heel. But come on. She's been one of Eve's strongest performers since her debut and she's second to nobody on the mic'.
For me, she's exactly the Champion Eve have needed for some time. Yes, Jenny and Alpha are fantastic wrestlers, but their in-ring personas were very much the strong/silent/steely-gaze type.
And so yes, I cheered when Nikki won. Cos it was one of those "It doesn't matter that she's a heel, this is about a fantastic wrestler rightfully being recognised for her hard-work and talent" moments.
But unfortunately, that's exactly what it was. A moment. Cos then Emi won it. And it just felt.... meh. Actually no. It felt wrong. Not just because Nikki lost the belt on.. well, we can't even say on her first 'defence'. That could have happened and, whilst it still would have been very disappointing, it wouldn't have seemed quite so frustrating. But the manner of the title change, that's what really ruined it for me.
Because it didn't happen in a proper match. But instead, in 3 second little moment that was all about being a 'shock'. At the expense of Nikki Storm. Yes, it was supposed to be about her 'arrogance' and yes, she had just barely survived an immense battle with Alpha. But she still lost the title in 3 seconds.
And that doesn't seem right at all.

I agree, I very much enjoyed the show, but I didn't feel any sort of satisfaction when Nikki Storm lost the title. In fact, I felt quite the opposite.

Guys, it's okay. It was just a match for a fake pro-wrestling title. No worries.

Your post indicated that EVE giving Sakura their title "can only mean good things" in that it would somehow increase the EVE wrestlers' chances of getting booked in Japan or Thailand. This can only mean good things to come for the EVE women as far as traveling to Thailand and/or Japan (hopefully!). Whether it be giving her their title, or having her win another particular match, what is booked to happen with her character on a pro wrestling show as part of the storyline would have no bearing on whether she would get the other wrestlers booked somewhere. She will get them booked there if she wants to, and still would have even if Nikki Storm had remained EVE champion at the end of Saturday's show.

It's called looking on the bright side of things. Everyone is so down about Storm losing that I was giving another point of view. We all know its about if there's interest in the EVE women from Thailand or Japan. Doesn't mean you have to bust in and say it, and then use language like "giving her a fake wrestling title" - completely ruins the fun and breaks Kayfabe.
You've been very rude and negative in other threads. Try looking at the glass as half full and be more positive.

I can't be the only person who suspects that Erin was not originally going to be Angelina's partner for this match. After I interviewed Angelina, I asked if Velvet was meant to be the tag partner, and she said it was never the plan. Velvet was actually booked for a show on Saturday, but it was cancelled because of the after-effects of Superstorm Sandy.
