Anybody have suggestions getting to the Oct 19th show from Detroit? Southwest's pretty cheap right now and Midway airport isn't that far from the Rodeway/Eagles Club. Unless the transit time factor is important, Amtrak is significantly cheaper, only $66 round trip. |

Wouldn't it end up in Union Station though? Cab fare might be expensive. (I haven't been down there in years so I have no idea how far away it really is. It's probably still cheaper though.)

There are three train lines from downtown that can get you relatively close. A cab for the rest of the distance won't be too much more. |

If you're staying at Rodeway, just take a Metra to Brookfield and it's a quick ten minute walk to the hotel. That's been my go-to plan for most of the weekends I've been down.

Stopping at Rodeway from the Friday through to the Monday. Any help in getting to/from the shows would be greatly appreciated and the same if anyone is flying in/arriving on Friday evening (not due to arrive until around 9 in the evening)

For those doing stuff downtown, I recommend that you read up on the new Ventra transit payment system that launched today, which is required for CTA Trains and Buses, and PACE Buses (but not Metra, yet). My advice is to get the main card ahead of time online, before you get in town. If you buy it at a vending machine, you have to pay $5 for the card, and then get it back as transit value by registering it online. Do the registering online now, and have it mailed to you, avoiding the fee all together. The alternate is to pay an extra $1 for a one time pass everytime. |

I'm flying in from NY, and am a first timer at this thing. I have no idea what to do and could use the help. Willing to split rooms and get a rental car if someone can help point me in the right direction.

The Rodeway Inn is the place to be. It's the closest hotel to the venue (not counting motels), and dozens of fans will be staying there. It's your best chance to pick up a ride and share a room. |
