Here's a preview of the artwork for the SHIMMER Volume 32 DVD. Look for it to be released at www.ROHwrestling.com during early September. We will have it ready in time to have on the merch tables at the tapings. Thanks to Lee (case art) and Shupercousin (disc art) for their contributions to this release.

The front and back covers are very professional and look amazing. I'm really not a fan of making the spines match, as it looks real out of place in the grand scheme of things.

It's "absolutely terrible" that the spine matches all of the other 31 Volumes in the series?

Well, I'd obviously prefer the spine to match its respective cover art. Their decision to have them all match each other makes sense if their stacked like books next to each other, if you care about that sort of thing. But it creatively sets each volume back artistically if the front and back cover don't work with that purple motif and text style. I would rather have each volume stand on their own as unique in that way, rather than caring so much about the spines looking exactly the same. But that's just me.

The cover is nice. The disc art sharing the same drawings as the guys' signs who sat front row gives off the impression SHIMMER hands out signs to the fans cast members in the crowd like TNA. Cool for the guy who drew it that his artwork is featured, but I don't care for it in that respect.

SHIMMER is to women's wrestling what PRIDE means to MMA or any other major organization of serious competitors. It says women's athletes. To have some cartoonish overlay on the disc you would never see on anything but a [do the] HUSTLE presentation is a real shame. I'm sorry ladies, I didn't plan to see your "women's athletes" featured like a guy looking for lucky charms. No matter how much of a treasure the action is.

Sorry to hear you feel that way, but nobody ever said SHIMMER is 100% serious. We've had quite a bit of comedy and such on our shows over the past 4 1/2 years, and have used cartoon artwork on previous DVDs as well. This is nothing different. We're a wrestling promotion, with a variety of styles and characters.

SHIMMER is like the female branch of ROH. I bought ROH DVDs starting in real time, 2002. I can't find this same animation from ROH. Ring of Honor. Superb commentators, hard hitting action, and they also touch the audience in a witty way. I'm not saying it's obvious from the preview of the disc that SHIMMER is not 100% serious about the way they market their shows. I found that out by looking at the DVD releases of WWE, TNA, ROH, and thinking about why any company serious about wrestling action would undermine the presentation like that. Will I buy these? I hope to compliment my modest DVD collection with it at some point. I think of it objectively. If this were a CD and you lost the cover art, how proud would you be to have the disc face shown here in a collection of other top tier action? Thanks for the swift reply. I enjoy a company that interacts genuinely with fans.

The cover is awesome. It can't help being. Ayako and Melissa, FTW. By "PRIDE" you mean the company that used to have an anime intro? You'd only see that in HUSTLE (which was owned by PRIDE)? I see tons of drawings just like that in Joshi. I've got a cartoon Ice Ribbon post card featuring some of the same women on it. "Kawaii" AKA cute stuff in Japan extremely common and not considered incongruous at all with serious endeavors. Certainly no issues with it in MMA or Pro Wrestling. Why do you think Sakuraba came out in goofy, Curry Man-esque masks? This is isn't even a first time for SHIMMER either, look up!

I love the disc artwork. It's very anime-inspired and I'm sure the ladies themselves will love it. And if you don't care for it, just go ahead and slide the disc into your player and mark the eff out for some of the best wrestling you're likely to see this year.
