I have to talk about this... You guys can't go off on TNA like they are the taliban. You guys have to understand, TNA is a MAJOR company trying to compete with this monster called WWE that have multi million dollar budgets. As a matter of fact, you guys should thank TNA for letting their wrestlers still compete in the indy scene and most importantly SHIMMER. They are not pricks about it, they are just doing bussiness. We are lucky that they don't just sign the talent and go "No you can't work for SHIMMER only for us". WWE would never let Serena, Nattie, and Nikita go to SHIMMER, it's the same with TNA, that weekend they are on, wich means NO. Tough luck for us. Now, is Daffney, Kong, Melissa, and Lane will not be there... Will it really hurt SHIMMER that much? In the words of "Stone Cold" Steve Austin "Wrestling is a running machine and I'm just a gear. At one point you take me out and put me in a pile of old gears, you put a new one in and the machine keeps rolling.". I think SHIMMER would actually benefit if they could push the likes of Rain, Amber, Blake, Lufisto, Blake, Mathews, Wesna and others to the main event and that way we could get awesome and fresh main events. And god knows that Roxx and Rain deserve title shots... Anyways, relax you all. You are all blowing a gasket for something that is not set on paper yet. The tickets have not been sold yet. Plus it's SHIMMER... You'll get a quality show even if the only ones that show up are the IHWC, the Ninjas, MsChif, and Casey

Of course we know that it'll likely be a great show anyway (cf ChickFight XI where Dann Read booked an excellent show despite Melissa being injured, someone being in a car crash and two people who were hoping to carpool with her cancelling on those grounds all three days before the event) but fairweather fans might not see the big names and not part with their money. Does SHIMMER really have "fairweather fans", though? This isn't like a popular TV show, that has a small core of dedicated fans and then a whole lot of casual viewers whose viewing is what keeps the show on the air. As has been noted in other threads and other discussions, women's wrestling is a niche product. Having been to all but the first two tapings, the vast majority of the live crowd appear to be the same people almost every time, with a few casuals--and, I have to note, it's seemed to me like a decreasing number of casuals as the tapings have gone on. I don't have any knowledge of what the DVD sales figures are like, but I expect they follow a similar pattern: they're primarily purchased by SHIMMER's dedicated, core fanbase, with a few copies bought on a curiosity factor. Again, I think the amount of grousing over a show or shows without them would exceed the actual impact of their absence on SHIMMER's profits.

The greedy part of me wants there to be two tapings which result in 4 DVDs, instead of two, because that means more DVDs for me to buy ... because I know I would enjoy any Shimmer show I buy, no matter who is missing. I mean I wouldn'r end up NOT buying these DVDs because of certain people not being on them
However, wasn't PWG's 2008 BOLA affected by TNA being in the area, because it ended up causing fans to chose which show to go to? I hate to see that happen here and cause financial stress and affect business. Yes a lot of US would chose Shimmer, but to most people they would probably jump at the chance to see a TNA show because of the "bigger stars"

Look; we're going to see the best in woman's wrestling on whatever particular weekend Shimmer is scheduled, irreguardless of who is booked. It is going to be a hell of a show reguardless of who is there and the talent is going to put their best efforts to put on a good show. Besides, without the TNA talent there, doors will open for others to come in. We can see some amazing matches from people we don't really know. Also, we're going to buy the DVDs because we were there. I have faith in DP to figure this out and I'll wait until he has everything set in stone. Deep breaths everybody, deep breaths.

The whole "it's going to be a great show regardless of who is there" is flawed. Dave doesn't need to worry about us regulars. Me, Ryan, British Jason, Stevie, Rik, Jon, Billiken...he knows we're going to buy the DVDs. However, the people on here who are going to buy the DVDs even if they don't have Melissa, Kong, or Daffney on them, we're not going to keep SHIMMER alive on our own. You need to reach out to as many people as possible, and it's easier to sell them on buying a DVD if it has Melissa, Kong, and Daffney on it rather than Tenille, Skater, and Rayna. It's not a knock on those girls, but it's the recognizable names that are going to move copies beyond this forum.

I can't say I'm overly bothered by this. TNA has to do what they feel they have to do. While it would be great to see Sarah Stock and Melissa on the show, as long as Daizee/Ariel/Portia are there then I'll be buying the dvd's.

But it isn't. Again, women's wrestling is a niche product, with a small audience. As such, yes, it actually IS the core devotees that make it the bulk of its revenue--and whatever else you can draw in from casual fans is gravy. Very helpful gravy, but gravy nonetheless. Sure, you MIGHT get a few more people if you can advertise a Melissa or a Kong or a Daffney. But not so many more people that it would make a critical difference. SHIMMER is bigger than one or two names. And its anniversary is an occasion that deserves a celebration. Keep the dates, and keep it as a two day event. That would be my recommendation.

And also Dave mentioned it saved a bit of money to run the 2 day, 4 show schedule as well. If you acquiesce to TNA's bullshit and only run one show, do you lose more money? That obviously cannot be in the best interest a struggling company. And an even worse option is to try to compensate by jacking up prices even more for only one show (for example $60 front row, $30 general admin). This is a craptastic decision to come to but I still stick to my opinion of run on the original date or possibly bump it up a week or two but whatever you do KEEP IT A 2 NIGHT, 4 EVENT SHOW since a) it's an anniversary show and b) the company makes more money that way.

I really hope the show is on November 8th and not November 1st. November 1st is the day after Halloween, which will be on a saturday. A lot of people may have party plans that weekend. So November 8th would be a lot better.

In an alternate universe where Vince McMahon isn't our model for god:
"TNA would like to congratulate SHIMMER Women's Athlete's on reaching it's historic 4th Anniversary! We at TNA are also passionate about women's wrestling, as you can tell from our red hot Knockouts Division. We especially look forward to being a part of this historic weekend as our upcoming live events will feature a special appearance by SHIMMER Champion MsChif and our TNA Knockout's Division Champion, Tara, will for the first time be participating in SHIMMER'S Sunday event. Also SHIMMER fans, be sure to bring your SHIMMER ticket to TNA Friday night for FREE entry into that nights event!"
