.Yes April Hunter is a good wrestler, can win matches & tournments, and is still goodlooking but I cannot even see her getting into the WWE because she would take to much money away from current girls like Candice,Trish,Mickie, etc.and even girls like Barbie Blank(ECW) with no wrestling background(who I think will win that Bikini Bull Riding Contest-so much for wrestling from the WWE-from Dallas on SNME).Why, because they think she is hot looking-but I don`t.Hopefully this show and that contest will boost their rankings with NBC because in past shows viewers were way down(see ProWrestling.com & article "Internal Pressure on WWE Regarding SNME"for 07.11).

Well since a good portion of people are naming wrestlers that are up-and-comers; one that I would like to see is Scarlette Rose. I know someone has mentioned her name somewhere in this thread. First off, I have never seen Scarlette wrestle. The only reason that I would want to see her wrestle is because all of the "hype", so to speak, she has gotten on glorywrestling.com's message board. Who knows she could be a bad wrestler with a person spinning out a good review for her. I still would like to see what she has to offer, even if it is in the form of a shimmer online match.

Looks like I am on again, off again, etc. like a rock band expecting to show up after someone bought tickets.I saw SNME on NBC and ofcourse there was very little wrestling by women-if there was it was real quick. It looks like the Bikini & Playboy models are more important than the wrestlers(and to showcase mens wrestling).Check out what was said on ProWrestling.com articles from 07.16 "Saturday Nights Main Event Rating Bombs, and Brooke Hogan Note" and also "Hulk Hogan Fails to Save The Saturday Nights Main Event Rating."I thought they would show the entire Bikini Bull Riding Contest and showcase stripper Kelly Kelly(Barbie Blank) from ECW because the WWE promoter himself is overseeing the new ECW and since he thinks she is hot looking( like someothers) NBC would be a very good place to show her off.Well it did not happen and I believe this was a major mistake by the WWE and hurt their rankings with NBC which is one of the major networks. As a result,I don`t think there will be anymore shows on NBC.And it would not surprise me if they get dropped from UPN unless they showcase even more the Playboy & Bikini models( add some of them to SD).What does this all have to do with Shimmer-its a big green light for this company and womens wrestling. And it also puts notice on women wrestlers who want WWE contracts because they will probably be dropped first.Nobody has mentioned this I think, but I would like to see the girls that the WWE took from Shimmer come back & wrestle on Shimmer again if the WWE would allow it.Also have an open invitation to the WWE for their women to wrestle on Shimmer. But if Shimmer did pick up Mariko Yoshida,I bet alot of those WWE women wrestlers would wet in their pants(like one guy said on the APW website)if they had to face her.A dream match for me would be her vs Texas NWA June Byers(the best). On Shimmer(like APW),my number ONE is Melissa Anderson(win or lose she is HOT).For me,I think the best match on 4 (which I am getting ready to buy) is going to be Falls Count Anywhere Match with her & MsChif and I saw the pictures from her website.I hope Melissa Anderson gets deeper into wrestling like doing commentary, bookings, promotions, etc. even if its for the WWE(and they start to promote womens wrestling again).

I think that there's a rock solid core of wrestlers for Shimmer in Knox, Haze, Lacey, Rain, Danger, Martinez, Del Rey, MsChif, and Melissa. You couldn't ask for a better group of ladies to be leading the way. Now after seeing the 5 and 6 tapings I'd say that a few of the ladies I'm now becoming more and more of fan of need to get another shot. Amazing Kong, her match with Nikki Roxx was flat out fantastic, she just had so much of that natural unstoppable heel vibe going, and even with winning she made Nikki look like a million bucks. Which brings me to my next pick... Nikki Roxx, the girl just gets better and better every taping with her match against Kong, which personally I thought was just going to be a squash, turned out to be one of my favorite matches of the night. We need to keep this lady around, give her some time and she could honestly move up into that solid core as one of the top faces in the company, plus I'm dying to see her and Knox lock it up. Portia Perez, while she was only in a short match with the Haze, what I saw impressed me, she's young so she's obviously got some growing to do in the ring, but I see a ton of potential in her and I would definately like to see her come back for another show and get a longer match or two to see what she can really do. Serena, it seemed like allot of her offense consisted of quick roll ups to me, she is really quick and crisp in most of what I saw her do, so I actually would like to see what else she could do, she, like Portia, showed allot of potential, so give both of them a shot and see what they can do with it. Josie, she looked good in both of her matches, and showed that she could absorb allot of punishment as both matches she played the face that takes the beating. I've heard about how much more she has to offer, so I'd like to see what she can do. Ariel, she improves every time I see her, so I would like to keep her around for a few more tapings atleast to see how much more she grows in the ring, her trip to Japan did wonders for her and I'd like to see how much farther she evolves.
Now onto folks that I would like to see come in. Lufisto, pretty obvious choice, I'd love to see her come into Shimmer as I think her style would mesh well with most of the folks on the roster. I'll add a third vote for Saraya, she's an incredible talent and an established vet who I think that allot of the young up and coming wrestlers on the roster and those that will be would get mountains of experience learning from. Other than those folks I'm pretty open for anyone to get a shot, I was relatively unfamiliar with a few of the folks that have showed up at the tapings and was impressed, so I trust Dave as a great judge of talent and am sure that he'll bring in the people that are best for the promotion.

Maybe it's just me, but this question seems like a poor one.
If you want to establish a promotion, a constantly rotating roster is absolutely NOT the way to go about it. It would be far wiser, IMO, to focus on the wrestlers available, use them as best as possible, and start bringing in new people when you have an audience that is solid.
Bringing in stars from Japan and stuff is cool; but what's the point if you'll have them for one, two shows? What SHIMMER needs are wrestlers you will be there every show unless something gets in the way to prevent them.
There are better and worse wrestlers in the company, but there's nobody who NEEDS to go, yet.
That's what I think.

Well I started a thread to remove Amazing Kong. You can read that later.
Honestly you have to add Japanese talent to the roster.
You have to bring Mariko Yoshida for Shimmer. True wrestling fans have already noticed her. Also another Joshi star who has wrestled in a regular basis in the US as of late.....Sumie Sakai. You're well aware that she's the brains of the upcoming Dragon Gate supershow in the Northeast. She's a talent that I wouldn't mind seeing in the ring.
Also Melissa and Tiana Ringer really need to be pushed as bigger heels, especially with Melissa.
Veronica Stevens aka Ronnie Stevens. She was trained by Shawn Michaels. She can bring it on with her unique talent. She has wrestled in the US, Japan, and Mexico. You'll see why she was the only female trainee of Shawn Michaels.
Here's another wrestler I would recommend bring...by the name of Trina. Trina has wrestled in the Kentucky and the rest of the Southern States. She has wrestled with one Shimmer star before in Serena Deeb. She's a former Miss Kentucky who can really sell in the ring.
One last thing. You have to have Portia Perez to have matches on the DVD and not on the internet. It's a shame that she came from Canada to wrestle in an internet match.

Regarding Talia and April...I really don't think they're right for SHIMMER. Not only because I think in the ring they're a slight cut below all the other current members of the roster, but I doubt SHIMMER wants to feature anyone heavily associated with NWWL, if only to retain their image as a forum for legitimate female wrestling with an emphasis on athletic competition. And how many girls has SHIMMER used that are associated with WEW? Which mind you is a Women's "Tits and Ass" promotion? What fed they're associated with is meaningless. Work is work. Esp considering with women's wrestling there isn't a vast pool to pick from. EXACTLY! I'm always a little bothered when I hear people asking for April Hunter and Talia over and over again.I have nothing against them but it's not an exact fit. I think that if Hunter was straight up serious with no cheesecake involved she'd be an unstoppable fear-inspiring big red wrecking machine but as it is, she's not the "shimmer type". Of course, I never said this before because I didn't want to be rude.
I know shimmer has a lot of fans who are into the whole "cheesecake" perv out factor of womens' wrestling. . .
I've seen several matches with April that were serious. Sure there's an effort of comedy around her whole "look at my body, you'll never have it" attitude as a heel she puts out, but if you think all she puts out is "cheesecake" perv, you apparently haven't seen enough of April. Lest we forget she was also a RoH and an AtoZ wrestler and an accomplished gajin wrestler in Japan. April can have serious matches if it's required. Tracy Brooks, Ariel, Roxx and others can tell you I'm sure. The only reason I asked for Talia was because I haven't really seen her. I do know she wrestles, and even if she worked a SHIMMER dvd taping, it would at least give me a chance to get familiar with her and her work. And considering you feel she had no place along with April in SHIMMER, the fact that we have a topic debating on who "fits" in SHIMMER, shows there are others some people don't think do that are on the roster currently. Personally, you don't think she fits, I do. If it were my choice, I would take April Hunter over Lexie Fyfe any day. Not only do I think she could take Fyfe's place in the same role, but I also find April entertaining, which Fyfe, I don't. And since I'm on the topic I Fyfe, I think there are others who could fill her shoes better. Like Amazing Kong who is more convincing in her role. 1) SHIMMER is using the girls from WEW with wrestling street cred, not the wrestler's who only have T&A to offer. Secondly, he mentioned NWWL which is a whole 'nother level of exploitation of women in wrestling as anything other than wrestlers than WEW ever was.
I know April Hunter is good but I'd rather see others get into SHIMMER over her. She doesn't entertain me all that much and her T&A with Talia got old with me. She's not the type of woman wrestler I'm interested in. I've seen her AtoZ work and my most favorite match of hers in AtoZ is her match with Taylor Mattheny.
My preference in womens' wrestling is a little bit different. I'm not all about "sexy, sexy", as I'm a girl I just want to see kick ass wrestling from women without too much pollution from the peanut gallery. I'm all about humor (by cheesecake I meant something else), I think that makes a great wrestler be multi-faceted in working a crowd. Lacey, Danger and Portia are all capable of humor. People look to shimmer for different things and I look to it for hard hitting competition I could care less who's "good looking" and who's not. I just want to see working the crowd, working the match, working the fued, telling a story not a "battle of the babes" type thing.
If Panther Claw was given a mask and a black magic gimmick (like Norman Smiley in Mexico) I could get into that and it'd be far more interesting than a "sexy" gimmick. Maybe someone should don a sort of "Tiger Dream" type gimmick and claim they're from Japan? I don't think they use the classification "diva" all that much in Mexico.
I've been wondering about Luscious for awhile. .. why isn't she in shimmer?

The roster is seriously in danger of over inflation. Right not we have a pretty could group but moving some "to the back burner" would make room for these joshi cameos people are raving about wanting to see. And I'm not being condscending I'm just pointlessly trying to point something out.

true, but at the same time, bringing in japanese joshi to the states is part of what SHIMMER is about. Exposing the mainstream to women's wrestling. What better way to give these girls exposure and help the joshi cause? You're giving people a chance, who have never heard of the Mariko Yoshidas, the Tamuras, the AKs, a chance to be seen by the mainstream, which not only helps them in terms of getting over, but allows the possability of fans being interested in japanese joshi. And any added fanbase would help the industry, esp considering the current state of joshi over there.
And while there is some concern over the "overinflation" of the roster, keep in mind, not everyone needs to be booked on every dvd.

but at the same time, bringing in japanese joshi to the states is part of what SHIMMER is about. Says who? Just because Allison mentioned that they proved "American Joshi was possible" in her post Vol 1 promo doesn't mean SHIMMER is a conduit to introduce the like of Yoshida, Tamura, KAORU and whoever else to the United States audience. SHIMMER is about western womens wrestling. While SHIMMER may owe a debt to the joshi scene for some inspiration, I don't think adding a bunch of Japanese ladies is the way forward. The scene in Japan may have collapsed from its 80s peak, but there are still plenty of outlets for them to display their talents without taking spots in SHIMMER. Again, what business is it of SHIMMER's whether the joshi industry in Japan lives or dies? I mean, I'm sure Dave's a fan - but his main priority has to be the Western women. By all means, bring in the odd joshi star for a dream match or two if it's economically viable and there's a real demand, but I think it would be very depressing if SHIMMER started to focus on the Japanese girls ahead of the Western ones.

You have a point there stew about the joshi wrestlers, but look at ROH. Sure they're more established, but they have brought over a number of puro wrestlers from NOAH and elsewhere in the past few months. That hasn't taken away anything from ROH's US wrestlers.
SHIMMER can still be SHIMMER even with the addition of a few joshi wrestlers. Putting them in the odd match wouldn't (nor shouldn't) take away the attention from the other girls.
Hence I think there could be a limit to the number and frequency of them.

Here are my picks for indespensibles (in no particular order) Sara Del Rey - Best in the world. Period. Mercedes Martinez - SHIMMER's very own ECW-era Taz. I humbly request that she get booked that way too. Just a vicious, angry, no-bullshit wrestler. Lacey & Rain - Both of them are full-on awesome. Everyone who is tired of Lacey needs to realize there's WAY more to what she can do than just insult the fans. When she's out there, not only is she working a good match, but she's also constantly listening to the crowd for things to react to. She's also barking orders at the ref to pay attention and to get in position to count or ask her opponent if she wants to give up. When she's not doing that she's jeering her opponent's partner. She's always doing like 4 or 5 things at once out there, and let me tell you that takes a TON of talent. Allison Danger - Obvious reasons. MsChif - A huge draw, a huge talent, and a unique character for the promotion. Cheerleader Melissa - All-around excellent talent and has been workng an awesome program with MsChif. Rebecca Knox - There's nothing I can say that hasn't already been said. That kid is amazingly talented at just 19 years old. Nikki Roxx - An excellent mix of wrestling, charisma, and hotness. Daizee Haze - Arguably the top babyface in the promotion right now. The fans love her to death and she's got it all. She's got a ton of ability, she's got charisma, and she's cute as a button. Lexie Fyfe & Malia Hosaka - Mega-awesome heels. I could watch them do classic heel stuff all day. I'm disturbed to see so many people taking a dump on Amber. I would say that she is easily the most improved worker in the promotion since its inception. When I first saw Team Blondage on Vol. 1, I could take them or leave them. I thought that they weren't very good in the ring, but more than made up for it with their characters. I saw Amber as a not-so-hot, nothing-there part of a tag team I didn't really care about. After having seen Amber at the last taping, she's come a LONG way in a very short time. She's put on muscle (and curves as a direct result), teased up her hair, gotten some cool outfits, and has turned the volume up on her character and shown that she doesn't need Krissy Vaine to succeed. Most importantly she's a lot better in the ring. She's no Sara Del Rey, but she went from way low on my list to much higher in the span of one night. She still has some improving to do (doesn't everyone?) but she's shown me that she's willing to work hard and improve, and I hope she gets more of an opportunity to do so. I can see her doing great things down the road. I also think people should stop crapping all over Loralei. She's still getting her act together and establishing her ring style. Give her some time to develop before you say she should definitely get gone. Most importantly she hasn't won a match yet, and I think that's making some of you look at her like a jobber, but everyone has to pay their dues and remember that Rain lost her first two singles matches and is only 2/5 in singles competition. I know I'm in the minority here, but bring back Christie Ricci if you can. I love everything about her. Cindy Rogers and Ariel show me something new every time I see them, so keep them around too. Cindy may not have a real character yet, but she's got charisma and ability, and she just needs some time to find that little something extra that makes her stand out. The only person I would say to not bring back is Josie. I have nothing personal against her, and the last taping was the only work of hers that I've seen, but she did not impress me at all. She may be very talented, but I personally didn't see it. Maybe it's just me. Everyone else you can rotate in an out, as far as I'm concerned. Just an observation and not a criticism, but Tiana Ringer and Serena Deeb look the same to me. If you bring them both back, please be sure to do something that distinguishes them from each other or put them together as a tag team. As far as foreign talent, I agree that it should be kept to a minimum, the way ROH does it. Bring in big names occasionally to draw people in and to put on a good showcase for the fans, but not to be permanent members of the roster. I agree with the people who said that the promotion should focus on its domestic talent, and refine it. That's all I got. Flame away.

I never said anything about the puros being mainstains. I simply said them being used is a good outlet for exposure. Keeping in mind this is women's wrestling and something SHIMMER is working very hard to legimize and appeal to mainstream fans. They're still out there for the best interest in joshi, otherwise the company wouldn't be in the running to begin with.
I'm also one that's inclined to agree SHIMMER could do without Josie if it means there's room for the likes of Nattie or Lufisto etc.
Here's another name I don't thinks' been mentioned.. M'Style's own Michiko Omukai.

I was saying that the roster could have some sort of "split" down the middle with half of the talent on one DVD and the other half on the other.
Shimmer is about proving north american women can get it done in the ring, too but joshi stars wouldn't hurt unless this becomes the "book all joshi stars, all the time club".
