Don't ROH charge a very small amount for TV tapings? Like $5 or something.
Running in the same market at SHIMMER and Chikara will assuredly hurt both of those companies, especially with regards to any sort of walk up business. Yes, the hardcore SHIMMER/Chikara fans will still want to go to "their" company, but I think both those companies (and the rest of the WrestleCon related shows) are trying to draw the casual/walkup/WWE audience that weekend on top of their usual fans.
If you were a casual wrestling fan in the area who were considering trying SHIMMER (for $25 GA), I imagine the chance to see the perceived "bigger" indy stars of ROH for $5 might be a welcome option on what is likely to be an expensive weekend anyway.
So yeah, I'm sure ROH will do alright, but I'm equally sure both SHIMMER & Chikara were wishing they didn't have this direct competition.
The wrestling business really is eating itself that weekend, isn't it? WWE have the weekend booked with Axxess sessions from April 5th-7th and the Hall of Fame on the 6th. Of course, TNA are running in the NY market on April 5th to try and leech those WWE fans, WrestleCon has an entire weekend of events on April 6th-7th to leech the same crowd. Now ROH are trying to get in on the act too by running 5th-6th.

The walk up ROH ticket will be $20.
Eating itself? There will be 60,000+ fans in the area that weekend. Plenty of options for everyone. This is not unwise on ROH's part, especially since they need to film their TV, and get going on the build to their next iPPV, which is one month later.
I will say that ROH would be a more preferable option for the fan going to the HOF, since the two buildings are basically right by each other, so there's the convenience factor. I know it's going to be a hassle for our group getting from CHIKARA to MSG (but we'll gladly do it).
Also, didn't ROH announce the 4/5 show before WrestleCon announced everything? And hadn't they been doing this for years? And weren't they the first ones to do this in 2004? That doesn't sound like they're "trying to get in on the act."

MsChif vs. Mia Yim signed for Saturday night's TV tapings. I'd have booked Melissa as a heel myself, the day before the Super Bowl...

The Supercard of Honour show was announced ages ago, I believe before WrestleCon, but their TV taping the following day was a later announcement.
You're totally right though, I've seen a few places refer to ROH trying to get in on the act when, as far as I can see, piggybacking off WrestleMania was started by them with the first Supercard of Honour when they brought in all the Dragon Gate stars.
With 60,000 fans in the area there's probably enough business to go around, but not all 60,000 fans will be up for it. I know some people can't afford even the HOF show and Mania, plus a lot of WWE don't really recognise wrestling beyond it. Here's hoping there's enough business to go round and for everyone to get a major boost, especially Shimmer. Not quite so keen on Extreme Rising's free beer show promotion.

Why? Seems like a good offer.

Not quite so keen was probably a bad turn of phrase. I think it sounds like an awful idea on the part of the promoters, trying to keep control of however many fans turning up trying to prove how extreme they are. Should make for an interesting spectator sport, though.

Just seen! Just bought! I saw a Daizee Haze vs Alexa Thatcher match from ROH once which while short was pretty good, so shame not to see that here.

If they get decent time, Chif, Athena, and Cherry Bomb should make that a fun one.

A quick catch-up of WOH events since that last post...
*NEW YORK CITY TV TAPINGS - Veda Scott interrupts a match between MsChif and newcomer Daviene, and attacks MsChif in revenge for Chif misting her in Chicago Ridge.
*TORONTO TV TAPINGS - Veda Scott goes to Nigel McGuinness and demands a match with MsChif - later, she costs MsChif her match with Cherry Bomb.
It'll be MsChif vs. Veda Scott at the TV Tapings in Baltimore on June 23rd.
Before then, it'll be Athena vs. Barbi Hayden at the house show in San Antonio this Saturday, June 1st.

Athena beat Barbi Hayden with the O Face. There were around 800 fans in attendance, and quite a lot of them were Athena fans, as it was described as being more of a spillover ACW crowd than a real ROH crowd.

MsChif vs. Veda Scott airs on this weekend's TV.
Coming up, at A Night of Hoopla on July 11th, MsChif teams with Michael Elgin and BJ Whitmer against Athena, ACH and Tadarius Thomas, plus it will be Athena vs. MsChif in Milwaukee the following night. Athena is also scheduled for the night after that in Dearborn, Michigan, though her match has not been announced.

In recent weeks, ROH started to upload matches, some old, some new, of the "Women of Honor" to youtube: Amazing Kong vs Sara del ReyLeah Von Dutch vs Crazy Mary DobsonVeda Scott vs Sumie sakaiSara Del Rey vs Taeler HendrixDaizee Haze vs Taeler HendrixMandy Leon vs Deonna PurrazoLooking at LVD vs Mary, it looks to me that they changed their style, compared to what they usually do in other promotions. The whole match was running, jumping, striking, without even locking up just once. From what I remember, the matches from MsChif, Athena and ohers two years ago also were quite different from their usual stuff and not what I expected. Is it just me? What do others think about the matches?
