Is it wrong that the match I want to see most here is actually Toyota vs. Quackenbush?

And judging from Dave's post in another thread, I can only surmise that the board will mourn and lament what might have been for years to come.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who saw Toyota and September and got excited. Still, perhaps this will engender her to coming back to Chikara at a time when it's more feasable for Shimmer. If not, we still have a veritable King's ransom of talent.

I'm not that fussed, to be honest.
Toyota's best years were in the early to mid 1990s. It's 2010. I'm not doubting that she can still turn it on - but I don't think SHIMMER's going to miss her that much, considering how deep the talent roster is these days, coupled with four fresh joshi stars and the looming presence of Ayako Hamada.
Still, for a one-off exhibition, Toyota should get a great reaction in CHIKARA.

That doesn't say much considering her best years were better than anyone else in the history of wrestling, and in 2010 she's still often better than the vast majority in modern wrestling. She's still doing drop kicks from the top rope to the outside kids. She's still lovely and gracious and vicious and awesome. And Sara Del Rey will kick her, hard, for stepping into her ring/country.

You guys, she is doing the shows because she has always dreamed of working NYC. Its like a bucket list. Its not like she is trying to just break into the US market now.

Is it wrong that the match I want to see most here is actually Toyota vs. Quackenbush? Not at all. Not at all. Toyota is a legend of wrestling in general. That's a bit of a stretch. Toyota is still the most widely known joshi outside of Japan over Hokuto and over Aja; she's also a living legend just like Hokuto, Aja and other women of the big 90s bump era. She may not be 18-26 years old any more (Ayako's not the same 17 year old she was in ARSION anymore, either) but she's still incredible to watch and still has some of the most insane momentum on dropkicks I've ever seen. It's a bit of a stretch to say she won't be missed/lamented over. In fact, I'm tempted to say her change in persona is similar to Sara Del Rey's change in persona. It brought fresh life into the Manami we'd been seeing for almost 2 decades. Just because she can't be booked doesn't mean what she can bring to the table, in terms of the experience and legend status should/can be underplayed. Manami is a lot like Itsuki Yamazaki, when she returned she was just as good if not a little bit better.
