Wrestling fans don't have to act like jaded twats all the time. Just had to get that off my chest.
Anyway, I think Volume 23 is pretty solid. Between the title match, Melissa/Wesna, and Nicole's coming out party, I feel that two matches almost got lost in all of that. Kong vs. Mercedes and Death Rey vs. Madison were very good, in my opinion.

What? You mean wrestling fans can actually enjoy the product they claim to be fanatical about? That's blasphemy. Being a fan means hating everything and knowing you can do it all better.

Wrestling fans don't have to act like jaded twats all the time YES. Yes, they do. If you can't make difference between wrestlers and styles of wrestling what the hell can you do? It's their right as fans to get all elitist and negative- knowing that they can do it better.

I got this volume during the sale, and while not as strong or consistent as what we would see on the second night of wrestling, it was good stuff.
Roxx/Cat was good for a curtain jerker. Cat has a lot of potential, and I think she could have done more with a win here, but it worked. Amber and Tenille had a decent match, but nothing really special; it was Tenille's SHIMMER debut and another standard Amber vs. low-carder performance. I think Amber deserves better than that role now, after what she showed us against talents like Mercedes, so it bugs me that they keep using her that way. Daffney/Melanie served its purpose, but Cruise could have looked a bit stronger and made a lot more of her height and weight advantage.
After three matches that were decent but not really anything special, we got a very good showing in Del Rey vs. Madison. Before this I thought that Eagles was just a pretty good tag wrestler; she opened my eyes here with a huge singles performance against Sara (and an even better one against Mercedes). Everyone knew Sara was winning, but Madison opened a lot of eyes that night, and I can't wait to see her back. Next came Serena Deeb's promo, which didn't impress me very much. She didn't stumble over her words, but she didn't say anything beyond the obvious, either.
Kellie Skater was fortunate enough to make her debut against a real gamer like LuFisto. The Rate Tank could have gotten a little more offense in, but overall they had a pretty good match. Nicole Matthews vs. Daizee Haze was when business really picked up on Volume 23. They had an impressive technical performance, and Nicole proved herself once and for all to the SHIMMER fans--while for her part, Daizee really made the match flow smoothly and stay unpredictable to the very end. When your match ends in a time-limit draw and the fans applaud anyway, you know you've done something special. (I just wish their rematch on 24 had lived up to this encounter.)
Kong/Martinez was shorter than I thought it would be, but great. All the nice spots were there. Martinez looked very strong, and Kong kicking out of the Fisherman Buster was a real moment. Not as awesome as the matches Kong had with Roxx, Chif or Wesna, but still a thrilling performance.
The tag title match was good stuff all around. The only big problem with it: the ending. The IHWC have lost before; if Lane and Nevaeh were going to keep the belts, we could have handled a 2 to 1 finish in their favor. The "Dusty finish" where the ref called back and restarted the third fall was a first-time thing for SHIMMER, and did not seem to come off well with the fans.
Wesna/Melissa was not a hardcore war like the ones these two had in Europe, but it wasn't meant to be. They were great, going at it tooth and claw the whole time. The forearm exchanges got to be a little much toward the end, but Annie Social was introduced well, and cost Melissa the match without making her look weak. A very nice brawl.
Deeb/MsChif was pretty good, although Chif has had better defenses and I was never a huge fan of Deebious. I was glad the belt did not change hands, and ending this particular story allowed Chif to move on to more impressive challengers in Wesna and LuFisto. Overall 23 was a good volume of SHIMMER action, but I thought 25 and especially 26 were a lot stronger. I could only afford to buy two volumes, and 26 won't be out until December--so I picked 23 and 25, deciding to pass on 24.

We can agree to disagree on that one. ;D
Personally if I had to single out one volume as the weakest, I would take 24. Besides Kellie and Jen getting their first singles wins, Mercedes/Madison and Wesna/LuFisto II, nothing really grabbed hold of me from that show. Danger/Portia could have been a lot better, but Danger wasn't in ring shape, so the match was very limited. Haze/Matthews was all right, but not like their first encounter. And it made sense for Chif and Melissa to lose in the main event, but they were dominated too much for my liking, and the aftermath where Chif and the tag champs lay motionless for five minutes looked like a mistake of some kind.
So my order would be 26, 25, 23, 24.

Volume 27 had lots of great matches including Ayako Hamada vs Mercedes Martinez, MsChif vs Nikki Roxx plus two awesome perfomances by Jessie McKay and Nicole Matthews against Sara Del Rey and Cheerleader Melissa and every single match is worth the money you spent
Volume 23 had a crazy match between Melissa and Wesna, one of the best of the entire 2009 and some other good matches but not so epic. Madison Eagles vs Sara Del Rey, even if was just more or less 10 minutes longs is awesome and should be seen at least once
The same for Volume 24 which however had an awesome tag team Main Event

I'd go with 23.
MsChif vs. Serena Deeb - The culmination of Serena's rise to the main event of SHIMMER.
Wesna Busic vs. Cheerleader Melissa - Their first SHIMMER meeting, just brutal.
IHWC vs. Ashley Lane & Nevaeh - 2 out of 3 falls culmination of the series of matches between these two teams.
Amazing Kong vs. Mercedes Martinez - First time singles meeting, very hard hitting.
Sara Del Rey vs. Madison Eagles - Fantastic match. Lance Storm called it one of the best women's matches he's ever seen.
Daizee Haze vs. Nicole Matthews - Nicole's breakout singles match, and a 20 minute technical wrestling clinic.
