There's a Hampton Inn in Westchester that worked out really well for me on the tourney weekend. About 5-6 miles down 22nd from Berwyn and the Eagles Club, a Dominicks less than a mile away, a Panera Bread and a few other restaurants and retail within walking distance, quiet surroundings, close to a lot of good things in Oak Brook and environs even though 22nd gets hella congested, quality hotel, good staff, really good breakfast buffet and free wifi, comfy beds. It's in the $80-100 range... split amongst three or four, it's not that much more. Hilton's website has it for $85 if you're checking in on 4/26 and leaving the next night. Also on 22nd and 17th ave is a really good Polish buffet called Old Warsaw. As for the after party, is it really inclusive for the fans? I usually end up sitting in the bar part and if you try to be friendly the rasslers just run in the other direction. Also, there WILL still be the party, right? Just asking cause my friend knows the owner Tony, who just a month or so ago sold the business to some other relative, and I was wondering if they would still affiliate with Shimmer. Don't see why not, they could use the money, cause they've have a bunch of bills come up like having the freezer break down and such.

Well, it looks like I've got my front row ticket, it looks (fingers crossed) like I've got the time off work, so it looks like I'm on my way to my SHIMMER show! Quite a trip, but with what I've seen Volumes 1 - 12, it should be well worth it!
Appreciate if you guys and gals from the States can keep throwing names of recommended hotels around as that's the next thing I've got to look at - somewhere nice but lively would be perfect!
Hope to see everyone there!

What would Lacey want you to do? She'd tell you to call off work, pretend youre giving birth, you lost a hand, foot caught in a bear trap, suffered a leprechaun bite ...something if all else fails quit! Priorities are at steak!!
I for one will be listening to The Ramones "I wanna be Sedated" "Just get me to the airport And put me on a plane Hurry hurry hurry before I go insane."
Okay Lacey would not say "leprechaun bite", thats pure Casey right there.

Problem is the company I work for can be funny when it comes to holidays; the directors believe that you should show the same levels of commitment as they do (without the £100K Salary and Millions of Pounds they have in Share Options though, obviously) and if you are in the middle of larger contract negotiations, then they expect you to kinda stick around. That and the main fact that I've probably already used all those excuses you listed (and then some) for time off before. I'll be doing my level best though to get time off as it won't just be my first SHIMMER show, but indeed my first trip to the States.
And I don't think Lacey would miss me that much anyway; unless of course it was to spit on or hurl verbal abuse at.
;D

Yes, it's true; I've been quite a few places East of here but never made it to the US yet for one reason or another. Seems strange too that my first such visit will probably be a 'whistle - stop' trip to watch SHIMMER! Although I'm looking forward to the show in general, obviously the prospect of seeing Lacey live (Rain too hopefully, but that sounds like that may not be a certainty at this moment!) is the real big draw for me.
And I'd love to recommend a trip over to the UK for you....I'd love to, but I can't!

Volumes 17 & 18 of the SHIMMER DVD series will be filmed during the course of the taping. From the very beginning, SHIMMER has prided itself on utilizing the very best women athletes from around the world in an effort to present the most complete women's pro wrestling show possible. As we head into the Volumes 17 & 18 taping, the ever growing SHIMMER roster is both larger, and stronger than ever. Added to the mix on April 26th is one of the most world traveled female pro wrestlers of the past ten years. "The Croatian Panther" Wesna Busic comes to SHIMMER on 4/26! WESNA BUSIC - Height: 5'10" Weight: 143 lbs. Hometown: Zagreb, Croatia. Pro Debut: 1998. "The Croatian Panther" has become one of the most respected and feared female fighters in Europe, with her explosive repertoire of lethal kicks and signature CB4 Driver finisher. Much of Wesna's European notoriety has come from her battles in German promotions GWF and GSW, EWA in Austria, British organizations RQW and ChickFight, and NWE in Italy. Wesna briefly appeared in the United States in 2005 for Afa the Wild Samoan's WXW, where she battled Mercedes Martinez in a match fans still talk about today. In 2006, Wesna debuted for ZERO-1 MAX in Japan, and began to appear on Pro Wrestling SUN events. On April 26th, Wesna returns to the United States to enter SHIMMER competition. No Larry, we're not the same person, you must have met him too or something, lol, I'm fresh03 pretty much everywhere I bother to post at depending on my current agendas, lol.
Anyway, I'm 100% confirmed for coming to this taping now, so hopefully we'll get a few of the title tourney crew we had rolling around back together, plus a few of more folks that I've talked into showing up from around the country.

Just a bit of info about Wesna's showings in the UK last year for you guys:
In June 2007, Wesna won the Real Quality Wrestling Women's Championship from the Jezebel Eden Black in a 4-way match which also included Jetta and Kong. She won ChickFight VIII in April, defeating Pandora, Jade and MsChif to take the tournament, and at ChickFight IX in June, she fought Cheerleader Melissa to a 45-minute draw.
And just so you know, Melissa ranks Wesna as one of her toughest opponents ever.
You guys are in for a treat.

With this announced I can't wait to see who her opponent is announced as, probably won't know until the show dang it, because who ever it is is going to get hit about as hard as they've ever gotten hit, lol.
Man, my decision to come to this show is looking better and better, I've always hoped she'd get a shot in SHIMMER, but as with all foreign talents you have to wonder about visas and availablity for shows.
Anyway, thanks Dave, my day just got a little brighter.

For quite a while Wesna has struck me as the most obvious "missing" member of the SHIMMER roster, in that she's so clearly a great fit for what SHIMMER is all about. Glad she's making her debut now. Fantastic news.

Fantastic news. My thoughts exactly, I'm really excited for all the great match-ups she's going to have. This is the best debut news since Sarah Stock, wish I could be there.
