If Shimmer goes for event names can I make the suggestion of "Everyone Hates Andy Long"?

I'm still scratching my head as to why the crowd went nuts during the four way like they did. Yeah, they rode Andy hard but then to turn it around onto the talent in both boos and cheers...truly puzzling. Andy was doing his usual clueless ref deal, but nothing out of the norm. I mean, Shazza and Mia got sustained Road Warrior pops. In my five years of Shimmer and AAW, I've never heard it that loud in the Eagles Club before.
Bottom line, that was one of those special moments that just kind of happened and it was AWESOME!

Doing the same old ref cliches is one thing. But when in one of the most recent matches he reffeed, he literally watched Yumi Ohka hit someone repeatedly with a whip and also got blatantly kicked in the head to break up a count and he did nothing except shrug, that's too damn much for me to take. To hell with what the finish is supposed to be, call for the DQ. What's the point of having rules if breaking them has zero consequences? So yeah, Andy earned absolutely every second of those boos he got in my eyes.

I was frustrated by that finale. I'm kind of new to attending wrestling shows, is that how heels usually retire? Nakagowa (deservedly) got champagne and streamers, Portia got diddly. Love her, but the Cheerleader Melissa promo rubbed me the wrong way. Maybe Portia was more friendly/talkative at the after-events. I went to Cigars & Stripes but it was soooo crowded I didn't stay long. I always say I'm going to go to Paisans but then I always feel drained after watching two days worth of wrasslin'. I don't know if there is a "usual" way for heels to retire. It's an old-skool way for a heel to retire, as opposed to breaking character and doing some "oh, I really appreciate the fans" routine, and I respect Portia for sticking to her old-skool principles. It almost seemed she was a little taken aback by the post match show of respect for her. But she went out exactly the way I would expect Portia Perez to go out. It was perfect

One thing I did notice this weekend was the crowd seemed to embrace the face/heel dynamic more than usual. Seemed like there were less of the 50/50 split chants and I thought it was great.

Maybe now that Portia is retired she can pass her copy of the rulebook down to Andy Long...

We'll have the VOD of the Q&A from this past Saturday up on www.WWNLive.com within the next 24 hours. SHIMMER 10th Anniversary Q&A SessionAs part of the SHIMMER 10th Anniversary weekend festivities, a Question & Answer session with the wrestlers was held at Cigars & Stripes in Berwyn, IL. The Q&A took place on Saturday, October 10, 2015, with Amber Gertner serving as moderator. She fielded questions from the intoxicated SHIMMER fans in attendance, as the SHIMMER crew downed a few themselves. While SHIMMER events are typically a "family show," that was not necessarily true for this Q&A session, where the alcohol was certainly flowing! Q&A Participants: Madison Eagles Kellie Skater Shazza McKenzie Jessicka Havok Mia Yim Leva Bates Heidi Lovelace Portia Perez Nicole Matthews Kimber Lee Cherry Bomb Tessa Blanchard Vanessa Kraven Veda Scott Kay Lee Ray Rhia O'Reilly Saraya Knight Courtney Rush Allysin Kay Evie LuFisto Cheerleader Melissa Lexie Fyfe Allison Danger
Nearly 2 hours of SHIMnanigns!

Yeah, the "Let's Put Ourselves Over" dick fans quota was way down this weekend. It was the best, least obnoxious crowd I can remember in a long time.

Saturday was delightful as far as the crowd goes but some of the more unpleasant fans did show up on Sunday. Namely the guy sitting right under the hard cam who completely adores Saraya for some reason. Although he definitely did himself no favors with declaring Vanessa Kraven's chops "weak" and demanding fans boo Rhia O'Reilly but then chanting for her later in the same damn match. He was the only real problem though as thankfully that bearded dickhead in the sweater was missing all weekend.

I got sick two days after the show, but a lot of people are sick at my job too, so it may be a sheer coincidence. *cough*SHIMvirus*cough*
"Boo this woman!" (*crepe paper streamers return, just like the first joshi invasion!*)
I sat by some snarky, jaded fans on the weekend (left side as you come in, for those who are curious), but it didn't ruin the experience. Yeah, they cheered for violence, cheered the heels, booed the faces, and generally acted like they were as bored as could be for anyone who would listen. Far worse than that for me was the atrocious AAW ring that was used. That thing should be condemned!
Cigars & Stripes seems like a fire trap, too.
Great weekend otherwise. I loved interacting with the wrestlers for an extended period, even though a ton of my faves weren't there. The cameramen were in the way a lot but not as bad as some past shows, and we were only told not to stand on a chair once, when the weekend was almost over (and then fans did it anyway for the final main event). Overall I felt like quality and aesthetics of the costumes and gear this weekend were far superior to what was seen generally for 67-68.
I put up my thoughts on the shows elsewhere but nothing, nothing compares to my first show in Oct 2011 (and it's not just rose-colored glasses, when I fire up the DVDs I can watch them all over again with a big smile on my face). Nevertheless, this was quite enjoyable, even if the crowd was almost dead for some great matches (by the end of Sunday, the crowd was more hyper than I've ever seen, which was a nice change). Great job to Dave, Allison, Portia, Amber, refs, announcers, all the wrestlers, staff, shills, plants, vendors, etc. !
Great job Nicole Savoy & Evie, especially!

Thanks for putting up the Q&A, Dave, but I'm curious, will this be coming to DVD as well? (a bundle perhaps? though a stand alone disc may make more sense)

VOD only. Not enough demand to make a DVD. A few portions of it will be extras on the 76-79 DVDs.

So yeah, Andy earned absolutely every second of those boos he got in my eyes. I actually completely disagree with this. If we're looking at a non pre-determined sport then your argument makes complete sense. But lets be real, the refs KNOW what the finish is. If they suddenly become logical and call for earned dq's it screws up Dave's finishes and chances are he's not too thrilled. The heat is all over the refs and that's TOTALLY the fault of the wrestlers here. Namely Saraya, Ohka, Melissa & Rhia who were too lazy? disrespectful? whatever adjective you want to use, to cheat the right way. Case in point - Ohka with the whip. You mean to tell me Melissa hasn't been around long enough to know to distract the ref so Ohka can do it? OR how about when they just decide to double team Xandra for 30 seconds right in front of the ref and THEN tell Andy to look at Spinelli who's just standing dumbly in the corner not doing a thing and Andy goes over to chew KC out? Yeah it makes Andy look stupid but its the wrestlers that did it, not Andy. Saraya holding a choke for 12 seconds because she cant be bothered to break the choke and re-apply it? So what happens, Percy the ref counts to 4 then stops because he EXPECTS the heel wrestler to do just that! Instead of the heels having all the heat its on the refs because the so-called "leader" veteran heels were too lazy to follow simple heel protocol. Completely and totally ridiculous.
