Starting in 2010, I kind of lost interest in wrestling (all promotions, not just SHIMMER) and moved on to other things. I have not attended a live show since Volumes 23-26 or seen a DVD since 30. And when I did check up on the promotion, there were so many new tapings and new, unfamiliar names that I felt kind of lost. But I've been watching my old DVDs again (enjoying MelissChif vs. Dangerous Angels as we speak) and I think I'm ready to come back into the fold! I don't have the money to see every show I've missed since 2010, so maybe you guys can help. What are some of the best volumes you would recommend from the last few years?

Anything from the start of the first Melissa reign is a good recent jumping on point.

Personally, I wouldn't recommend skipping Madison Eagles title reign.

I always suggest buying every one you can!!
From my counting you've missed twenty two DVD's, so I'll tell you ten of the best shows you should buy. Note that I'm doing this looking at the matches on the back of the DVD's and trying to remember them!
Volume 35 This card is STACKED with amazing singles matches! Perez vs Deeb, Skater vs Kong, Matthews vs Hamada, Mercedes vs Ohata, Melissa vs Ayumi are just some of the standouts on a brilliant card and the whole thing ends with McKay vs Eagles in what some think is the best title match ever in Shimmer,.
Volume 36 I'm not going to call this a one match show as there is also Mercedes vs Roxx, Daffney vs Rachel and the Ninjas vs Tenille/McKay, but the selling point really is the amazing Shimmivor Series match featuring eight of the best wrestlers in Shimmer history- Eagles, Del Rey, Haze, Nakagawa, Hamada, Deeb, Ayumia and Melissa.
Volume 37 Three in a row! This features Haze vs Deeb and Eagles defending against Mercedes which are both good/great from what I recall, but for me the highlights here are the tag matches. The Ninjas taking on the spuerb 3S and Pretty Bitcin' against the debut of the Knights. The Knights came into Shimmer like a freight train.
Volume 38 Yep, four shows in a row. This company is too consistent! This one has the heat machines The Knights go up against 3S while Hamada and Ayumi have one of the best main events ever. Plus it's the best DVD cover in Shimmer history.
Volume 39 Yeah, five shows in a row. As Dave says Madison's title reign was sublime. Th title's not on the line here though but we get Madison and Del Rey vs Melissa and Hamada. My two favourites on the card are Mckay and Matthews ending their feud in a 2/3 match and Athena taking on Jessica James in what is one ofmy favourite matches from all 52 volumes I have seen.
Volume 41 This has Melissa taking on Britani Knight, Hailey Hatred vs Kalamity in their debut matches, the Ohio Girls EXPLODE and best of all Eagles vs Deeb which I think is the best of all Eagles title matches, which is a big statement to make.
Volume 44 Superb card here. This has the end of the Melissa/Eagles and Britani/Saraya feuds as well as the start of the Rush/Del Rey and Athena/Mercedes storylines along with Kalamity/Tomoka, Lufisto/Kana and Mckay/Matsumoto.
Shimmer 47 This has Hamada and Ayumi vs Ray and Leon which many say is the best match of all time in Shimmer. That's enough of a reason!
Shimmer 48 Melissa and Saraya Knight reignite their infamous fued, Athena and Ray put on a clinic, Skater holds her own against Kana while Re-Generation X, the Canadian Ninjas and the oddball team of Del Rey and Rush try to dethrone Hamada and Ayumi in what is possibly my favourite match since McChif vs Kong on volume 9.
Volume 50 Every match here is great. Shazza/Santana, Athena/Tomoka, Cruise/Hiroyo, Kalamity/Bomb/Mizunami/Von Eerie are all very good, then there's the main event a ten woman elimination tag match! THEN there's Kana vs Ayako Hamada which again some may argue is the best match in company history.

Just a note, it was 3S (Matsumoto and Ohata) rather than 3G (Skater and Nakagawa) on those shows.
