scarletspider, well after the last set of tapings. I believe there was some dissatisfaction shown, by a couple of posters, to Cheerleader Melissa and the Shimmer#53 title shot. Calling for her to maybe even be left out of the next tapings. That she needed to freshen up her performances....

^ Exactly. There were plenty of people on here criticising Melissa and acting like her performances had dropped off and that she didn't deserve to be in the title picture anymore. Melissa was super popular leading up to her winning the title, but as soon as she won it people were moving on. She's not the only person who it's happened to, it seems to be reasonably common for indy fans to jump off a bandwagon once the title chase has ended - but it was pretty weird the way that people were so quick to start quite heavily criticising her.

I didn't feel that her in-ring wrestling performance dropped off. However, I do/did feel that her performance in playing her character had. Personally, I think that she played the "face" role much better years ago than she had lately.

Melissa as a face ran its course. The heel turn allows for a more interesting direction for her character to go in the future.

Nobody turned on Del Rey until she turned heel. I feel like I always have to argue this point every few months. She was cheered when she won the belt, again at Vol 13, again against Lacey, Kong and even against fan favourite Sarah Stock. Then she subtley turned heel on Vol 17 and it was only then that the fans turned on her.
As for fans turning on Melissa, I don't buy it either. I recently read the thread here from the tapings where she won the belt and the two or three fans complaining about her winning were complaining about everthing that weekend. Maybe they weren't as loud in support for her as usual, but the fans seem a lot quieter in general over the last set of tapings and the main vocal ones seem to be cheering all the heels annoyingly.

once again, cheering all the heels. seriously, we weren't cheering all of the heels, we were cheering who we liked. if it happened to be more heels than usual, what's the big deal? but we weren't cheering ONLY heels

I didn't say you personally, or all the heels. But I was watching Athena vs Nicole Matthews on DVD recently have a superb match, but the fans were very quiet, I'm assuming they were tired, except for one fan loudly cheering Matthews and it annoyed me. Storyline wise there's no reason at all you can cheer for someone like Nicole, it was the reaction Matthews didn't want and when the loudest fan in a small venue is cheering the wrong person it doesn't come off well on DVD. If you enjoy her work boo her out the building, make her the top heel in the company and she'll be pushed to the title. That's the reason Saraya won the belt, because fans boo her.

There's nothing wrong with going against the face/heel lines for a few wrestlers based on your fandom of them and what they bring. Athena and Kellie come to mind, and perhaps Melissa in both directions. No one is saying you have to follow those lines 100%. But when you (and again, not "you", and not all heels) often proclaim "I like heels", and cheer for nearly all of them based solely on that aspect, and nothing else, it's a problem, because it comes across as you spitting on the show as being presented.
If two wrestlers had a match one day, and then switch roles the next day and have another match, and you cheer/boo the opposite of their roles on both days, then you really are telling management "I will always do the opposite of what you want me to do." And that sucks.
It's a problem at all shows, from WWE on down. Obviously it's just more noticable at indy shows.

I would just like to point out the irony that the guy getting upset for fans cheering heels has a Portia Perez avatar.

I would just like to point out the irony that the guy getting upset for fans cheering heels has a Portia Perez avatar. I have a Saraya avatar. I do want to get away from this crowd complaining though. Despite my issues, in the end it is what it is, and in the grand scheme isn't a huge deal.

I don't see why my avatar is an issue. I'm a massive fan of Portia Perez. I happen to think she'd make a great champion, so I'd boo her as loudly as I could to help her get to the top. Besides my avatar is also making fun of her.

I just realized that the tag titles also have a curse. Once you lose them one of the team disapears! Lane, Misaki, Haze, Del Rey! Thankfully the Ninjas seem to be curse-proof!

I don't think the folk that cheer the baddies are doing it for the sake of cheering baddies . . they're just cheering for the people that entertain them the most. And being an interesting face is about ten times harder than being an interesting heel. The babyfaces I enjoy most are Lufisto and Tomoko . . and they're complete heels! Courtney Rush has got it right though, how can you not cheer her? Hamada, Kana and Mercedes have that cool badass charisma that makes you root for them. Nikki Roxx, Haze and Jessie Mckay are all great 'spirited underdogs'. For some reason I think Rhia O' Reilly will make an awesome face one day. But, yeah, I've been a heel fan since I was a kid, cheering on Owen in his feud with Bret. I'd still go along with the show and boo who i'm meant to boo but I don't think I could help myself popping when my favourite baddie wins.
I like that SHIMMER is seemingly a heel promotion. It's a much better dynamic and makes things feel more fresh. I can't overstate how much I enjoyed Madison Eagles as the champ. Nobody else has a better all round game (look, character, promos, wrestling skills etc..) and carries themselves like such a star. I think she could be the 'ace' of the promotion one day.
(On a slightly unrelated ramble, I always thought one huge missed opportunity in SHIMMER was not turning Allison Danger heel. Her angry sounding promos and her ability to banter with the crowd suggest she would have been an awesome heel!)
