Hello, Shimmer fans! I got the idea of the subject after reading the results for Shimmer vol 57. Believe it or not, Cheerleader Melissa, the Shimmer Champion, has turned heel; attacking Ayako Hamada. Because of this, it's starting to make think that either pursuing or being Shimmer Champ is becoming a curse for fan-favorites. With the exception of MsChif, Sara Del Rey starting to show heelish signs during her last two matches as champion. Madison Eagles turned heel when pursuing the championship, and now, it seems like Melissa has done the same and she's the champ.
So, do you fans believe that with the exception of MsChif, the prestigious championship is causing fan-favorites to descend into the "darkness?"

I sure hope not. Hamada as a Heel might be scarier then Saraya!
Yes, that is a prediction.

Generally speaking in wrestling, most wrestlers are better as heels. Melissa is a great heel. Maybe as a heel she will have a longer title reign than as a face.

I'm not denying that Melissa can be a good heel; she has the natural aggression and viciousness for it. However, every Shimmer Champ doesn't have to be a heel.

I was really expecting her to completely snap during the cage match and just start brutalizing Saraya by going after her knee again. Faces would rush in to stop her, she'd fight them off and scream "It's mine and nobody's taking it away from me again" or something like that. Although what happened last night was pretty good too.
(I think way too much about these things.)

The signs were there all weekend too. She had quite a few moments of cheating and just general bullying against Courtney Rush. Then it crescendoed with her match with Kalamity featuring more unnecessary roughness such as a Curb Stomp right into the steel guardrail. And then finally it peaked in the Danger match where Melissa was clearly trying to re-break Danger's collarbone (the one she broke in the first place on Volume 17) and was refusing to tag Hamada into the match since she wanted to keep punishing Danger. Then she just up and attacked Hamada after the match which really made it obvious what was going on.
But yeah, that belt does seem to bring out the worst in the people who hold it. Maybe only demons from The Inferno can resist its evil powers. I think we need to embark on a quest to return this belt to whatever damned volcano it was forged at since clearly the power of being the champ cannot be handled.

This is a strange and disturbing trend indeed.

I was surprised to read that Melissa had turned over the weekend. On the back of two lengthy heel title runs (separated only by Melissa's first short reign), it seemed right to put the belt on a face champion again.
I guess the feeling was that there were more options for potential feuds and title challenges from the face side of Shimmer's current roster than from the heels. Off the top of me head, there's Ayako, Rush and Athena for starters. And perhaps it's also felt that a strong face wrestler challenging for the title is more engaging than seeing a face defending her title.
It's probably also worth pointing out that a Melissa turn is probably one of the least noticable turns in pro-wrestling, at least in terms of her wrestling style. Let's face it, 'good' Melissa was rarely any less brutal in the ring than her time as a heel. And even as a heel, Melissa usually wins clean - she's not one for shortcuts or the more obvious heel tactics.

plus the best heels IMO are the ones who not only act heel but talk heel as well, SDR Saraya the Ninjas, even Daizee Haze are great heels because they also can get heat with the mic in their hands.

Maybe it would help if you guys stopped turning on everyone as soon as they won the title.

Maybe it would help if you guys stopped turning on everyone as soon as they won the title. Has that happened? Perhaps it did a little with Del Rey towards the end of her run, even before she started hinting at a turn. As far as I know, it never happened with 'Chif and obviously Eagles and Saraya were heels before they took the title. I think it's just the nature of the kind of wrestlers that Melissa and Del Rey are that, if they're in a match with another face, they''ll adopt a more heel'ish role. And if a turn is planned (as was the case with Del Rey and Melissa), then it's just a matter of putting them in a match or two against the faces on the roster and let the crowd do the rest.
