I'm going to miss every cat expression of Cat Power in the ring and on the way to or from the ring. I wonder if she studied tapes of cats to prepare for that character or if it was all natural.

Cat Power was a feral child, raised by wild cats in the wilderness of Ontario...

First, excellent point in saying on my complaining of the "and a half" chant is hypocritical to me joining in on the "two" chant. I'll keep that in mind next time I get whiny. Now, perhaps I just find it disrespectful to the women in the ring when people chant and shout stuff that has nothing to do with what's going on, whether it's those wrestling, or their storylines. I get that some matches are not everyone's cup of tea, but some of these antics occured when pure gold was taking place, which just blows my mind. So, as you noted, management is fine with what you do. Then I guess it's my problem. Fine. Do whatever you want. I'll sit somewhere else. Someone else who is less annoyed can take my seat. That is understandable.. I can agree with you on that. Which is why I know for a fact us "parrots" were waiting for dead spots and not interrupting matches with chants. I can't say the same for everybody there but I know we certainly did. Our party respects each and every person that is part of that show. I think I found the reason I said parrots. Full disclosure, I like to record audio on my iPod at any event I go to. Here, Joey doesn't say "no audio recorders allowed", and I'm not posting them anywhere, so I figured it was OK. It's a nice, (hopefully) legal way to relive the events until the DVDs come out. Anyway, I was listening to Joey's opening announcements on Saturday, and I kept hearing the word Buggy in a way that "literately" sounded like a parrot, after every sentence Joey said. It certinally didn't happen like that all weekend, but that paticular moment, upon hearing it again, kinda stuck out to me, hence why I said that. Now that I've looked back at it, my comments were certinally out of line, and I apologize for it. We all want to enjoy the shows in different ways, and I need to accept that. Besides, a lot of your chants are great. So what if I don't like a few? These shows are too awesome, and I shouldn't ruin them for myself by getting so easily annoyed.

Audio recordings, huh? That's actually a pretty cool idea, if you can manage 6 hours of audio.

Can anyone tell me the name of the drink that both MsChif and Daffney like? Was it Rumplestiltskin?

I know Chif asked for a Captain and diet at the last afterparty, and I know she mentioned some kind of rum called The Kraken, so if a Rumplestiltskin has a rum in it, I guess there's at least a chance that was it, haha.

For those asking about the dates of the next shows... we're looking into the possibility of running a set in July, and then another set in November, rather than wait 6-7 months to run again. As soon as anything is definite, we'll let you all know. Stay tuned...

We're going to try. On the heels of a strong weekend of shows, if we can swing it schedule-wise, it only makes sense to try to keep some of that momentum going by running in mid July, and then early November. It would get us on a path of running every 4-5 months rather than every 6-7.

More shows means more opportunities, though it also means more shows to miss... look forward to hearing what happens either way.

As much as I'd love to see more SHIMMER, flying out to Chicago is expensive for me and I kind of like the 6 month breaks to save up for a trip back. Obviously, I could just skip the July set of shows, but I would be way too tempted to go and probably end up going to all the shows which would kill my credit card.
Its a real catch-22.

Just an idea at this point, and we're checking into scheduling. All the pieces have to fall into place to make these weekends happen even twice a year, let alone three times. Venue, camera crew, necessary talent, etc. We tried to do this last year and it just didn't work out to get everyone in on the same summer weekend... going to try again this year and see if it can this time. If not, autumn it is.

Not to mention that gas prices will probably be through the roof in the middle of summer... Shimmer tickets, hotel, and merch would be the least costly things in the budget.
My personal feeling is that 8 volumes a year is quite enough. Spacing the events 6 months apart allows ample time for pocket books to regenerate. For a personal example, my minimum Shimmer budget which includes the purchasing tickets weeks to months in advance, gas, hotel, food, and at least $100 for merch($60 of which is usually reserved to buy the DVDs of the previous taping if all four volumes are available) is currently $600(or 6/7 of my net pay from an average pay check), which with just everyday life expenses will take about 6 months to accumulate the minimum funds necessary to make a trip possible now that I no longer have a travelling entourage to shoulder some of the expense... and I'm just coming from Minneapolis. I dread to think what Freaky, Stew, or Amsterdam the Amsterdamian are paying for their travel expenses coming from Europe.
If I'm not mistaken, a majority of the Shimmer Faithful who come to the shows are not native to the Chicagoland area, with most travelling significant distances (i.e. more than a two hour drive) to get there. More than 2 tapings a year might noticbally cut into attendence since most of the regular and recurring fans aren't local and aren't able to regain the funds to do three times a year like we were in Shimmer days of yore when tickets were only $15 and gas was well under $3 a gallon.
With a full Shimmer experience costing 4x (based on general admission pricing, I haven't even figured Front Row cost) what it originally cost during the one day taping period; gas prices going through the roof(which also affects airline costs unless you work for an airline and get discounts or fly for free); cost of food being higher in one of the largest cities in America; cost of hotel not being cheap no matter where you go(unless you happen to work for a major hotel company and can get discounts); and the fact that the selection at the merch table grows exponentially each taping, which we want to buy as much of as we can in order to support our favorites, not to mention buying Shimmer DVDs in order to fund the next set of tapings; speaking for myself (and possibly many others who share my financial situation), doing this twice a year is pushing the financial comfort boundries, much less three times a year. I consider myself quite blessed that I have been able to afford to come to Shimmer each taping (save for the first and the Florida taping), even though there were sometimes when I didn't think I would pull it off, especially since most of my entourage from previous years have dropped off completely due to being unable to afford to come to every taping.
Furthermore, we've only had 2 taping weekends per year since 2009. Near as I can tell, there has never been any lost momentum from the previous show by having a 6 month gap. Quite the contrary, the rarity of tapings in a calendar year, I believe, only heightens the excitement for the next one. It's almost like when there were only 4 pay per views a year. Each of them was special. Now, while most wouldn't see adding a third weekend as being overkill or over exposure; consider that 12 volumes would be taped, but not all of them would necessarily be available for purchase in a 12 month time frame. The great care that is taken in the post production process to make high quality DVDs, which we all appreciate even if it means we have to wait longer than most indy feds take to produce their DVDs, would likely mean that it may be next summer before the second day volumes of the fall taping are released because post production work on both the spring and summer tapings would still be going on as of the fall taping. The back up in the post production means it takes longer to release DVDs which in turn has the potential to create discontentment among the fan base because it is taking too long for the DVDs to be released before the content on those DVDs is rendered old news because it took place 2 tapings prior to its release date.
And if that weren't enough, consider the additional unnecessary stress a third taping puts on you, Dave. I've seen you in the wake of several shows, particularly the morning after(and that was back when it was only one day, I dread to think what Monday morning brings for you on these two day ventures). I have never envied that part of your job. That you make it through at all as mostly unfazed as you appear to be is a great credit to you. However, everybody has limits. One should be careful not to press themselves too far beyond what they are capable of handling. The highest number of volumes taped in a 12 month period is 8. In my estimation, 8 is Shimmer's magic number. It's what has proven to work best for promoter, talent, and most fans alike. It's not broke, so why fix it? Upsetting that balance that has been achieved by 8 volumes a year could be problematic... or it could do nothing at all; none of us can see the future unless we own a DeLorean.
Ultimately, it is your decision, Dave. And I will respect it, whatever it may be. I just felt that as one of the longest tenured attending fans of this great promotion, it was my duty to offer another perspective.
Thank you and have a good day. ;D
