All the cartoon stuff has always been fan made art which is awesome. A company letting the people who watch and buy the DVDs contribute.

We're not ROH. We're hardly the only promotion to use similar artwork on promotional materials or DVD releases. Below are two examples of New Japan and Dragon Gate instances of using cartoon artwork. Three-quarters of all CHIKARA DVDs are illustrations. We've used drawings on 2 of our 32 releases. It's not like we plan on doing this all the time.

You don't have to worry. I have an audience that enjoys cartoons.. i41.tinypic.com/311x99h.jpgOnce she gets her green belt in Crayola I will submit her work for future pressings.

I did NOT expect the disc art to be controversial in the least. I thought it was a terrific shout out to the fans, especially the one that created the art in honor of the Japanese talent. If I remember correctly, after Hiroyo’s match, as the fans were shouting “please come back,” and tears were streaming down her face, she grabbed that very sign and brought it in the ring with her.
Featuring this artwork on the disc shows a great deal of respect for the fans, as does the cover art of Volume 24 and the recent advertisement “teamblondagefan” did for this upcoming set of shows.
Thanks to Dave et. al. for showing such respect to the fans.

That's precisely why we decided to include them on the artwork for this release. It's one of the memorable moments from this particular DVD.

Lee, I gotta be honest with you, that Rate Tank picture really disturbs me. I have no idea why--it's kinda Thomas the Tank Engine-like and should be heart-warming...but I always and up feeling anxious when I see it.

I should note that my previous comments were coming from a graphic design/art standpoint, and those criticisms in no way reflect how I feel about the product. I never judge a book by its cover (or a DVD for that matter), and I know when I buy Shimmer I'm getting the best pro-wrestling product anywhere. I offer my financial support [even though I'm broke] every time a new Volume is released.

Like the cover.
I don't have a problem with the cartoons in general, but they do look very out of place.

Awesome. I'm very glad those cartoons were featured on the disc, when I saw those on the sign, I thought they were great.

I'm surprised this seems to be causing as much controversy as Vol 30 (Stock/MsChif) when it so obviously rocks my socks. Obviously everyone has their own opinion but I think the cover art has that great "danger, do not cross this line" look to it and as for the spine, for the majority of time DVDs spend their time on a shelf or on a pile, stacked up front to back, not side by side and open so I'm all for uniformity of spines.
The disc art is obviously very subjective, I'm getting a kick out of imagining Hamada and the joshi girls being some sort of superhero team with sass. Justice League meets Josie & The Pussycats.
And yeah, the Rate Tank sig is scary. I htink it's the absence of hair.

And yeah, the Rate Tank sig is scary. Get used to it, because that's the disc art for Volume 33.

I think the disc art is really nice. I can see why it looks out of place to some people, but how often do you have the disc sitting next to the front of the case, anyway? It won't matter that they don't "match".
