As for Mercedes destroying Skater, I'm hoping Skater starts having some stronger showings against the upper card talent. Her getting destroyed by Mercedes and Melissa were great fun, but I'm hoping she gets a big win soon. Then again, I was the guy wearing wrist tape with "Rate Tank" and "Die Wankers" written on it, so I might be bias, hehe. Brilliant move on Skater's part, that getting destroyed by Mercedes. Someone told me at the afterparty that Skater came up with the idea that she'd get chopped and chopped and chopped until the fans wince and grimace. By allowing herself to get destroyed in such a way, then keeping the "delusions of grandeur" gimmick, she pushes herself in a manner similar to how Mick Foley and Terry Funk used to get themselves pushes. I imagine that now, more people will look forward to Skater's mateches to see if something similar will ever happen...just like we used to watch Foley's and Funk's matches to see how their respective insanities would manifest themselves next. Well, played, Kel.

I, personally, don't need convincing anymore, I want wins, haha.

The ibuki girls are only midcarders because of their experience. They're actually as good as some of the main eventers, it's just that they have such a shitty tier system that you get your push based on your level of experience instead of purely on talent. And I'd say our best girls are as good as any of the modern joshi's. Since the ring skills progression in Japan is much faster and the structure of the card is more seniority and time based (with good reason) it makes sense. There's something to be said for experience. "purely on talent" results in hot shotting and after that, the only place to go is down. Also, in-ring talent does not always max out or become equal to all you have to know even in joshi.

I, personally, don't need convincing anymore, I want wins, haha. Oh, I hear you, pal. I'm right there with you. April 10/11 was my first Shimmer show and I hadn't even watched any videos of Kellie, so this was my first exposure to her. I walked away from the shows a Skater fan and wanting to see more of her in the future. Let me explain why. Her in-ring ability was fine. No particular moves set her apart and (with much respect toward Kellie) she likely won't have much success pushing herself through excellent technical ability or mindblowing spots at this point in her career. Where she certainly shines is in the apparent development of her "Rate Tank" gimmick. A small woman challenging larger wrestlers and getting beat would be interesting for a short time as comedic relief, but Kellie managed to transcend that. Now, I'm thinking "woah, this girl is nuts! What's she gonna do next?" Hopefully the next stop is a Skater-Martinez rematch in which Martinez dishes out punishment like she did in April...but Skater manages to score a surprise (cheating?) victory. I think you and I are on the same page (or at least in the same chapter) and it's going to be interesting to see how Kellie's character and career develop.

Consider the 2 MsChif prints placeholders (I actually only just bought those tonight at AAW) as the new MsChif Your Soul's Tormentor shirt and the new Canadian Ninjas We Put Awesome to Shame shirt that I bought are currently in the wash and thus not available for photographing. I'm proud to say this is the start of my very own Shimmer binder.

Daizee Haze and Nakagawa - that's certainly one team I'd want to see more of in the future..

I keep forgetting to compliment Sassy Stephie. Not only did she do well in her matches, but she gets props for fan interaction on Saturday night. A number of girls showed up, but only stayed for a short time. Stephie, on the other hand, did great PR in hanging out with a number of fans. She came across as genuinely nice and appreciative of the SHIMMER fans; in fact, she appeared so nice, it was weird watching her wrestle Sunday as a heel.
I thought Stephie should get some special recognition for her public relations.

The screen caps reminded me of another mark out moment: Madison Eagles' awesome NJPW t-shirt.

Random thought to be acknowledged or ignored: As one who originally didn't have much desire to buy a bunch of 8X10s, after doing so at the recent tapings, I've discovered that it appeals greatly to the collector in me. Now I want pictures of everyone. Shimmer wrestlers have become like Pokemon, gotta catch 'em all.
