I heard about this promotion for a while. I recently signed up to the board because of my interest and my search for reviews. But yet still after all the praise, I'm STILL on the fence. I'm STILL not sure whether I want to spend some money here. I'm not huge on women's wrestling, but I've never been against it. I enjoyed the womens matches that were IWA-MS shows that I bought once in a while. And the rare good WWE women's match (like Trish's last match was pretty good).
I've seen Shimmer in Best Buy. I've thought about it numerous times. So convince me. Make me BELIEVE.

It can be very simply put. If you like good wrestling, you'll like Shimmer. Look beyond any preconceived notions (thanks to its portrayal on the largest global stage) of what a woman's match is supposed to be... the matches are all at least good; as good if not better than the womens' matches you've seen in the past, light years beyond the E's notion of female wrestling. Visualize a series of ROH-style matches, but with combatants that are easier on the eyes as it were... that's what you'll get. There's kind of an old-school feel to it character-wise, but the styles of work employed are up-to-date. If you enjoyed the IWA-MS womens' stuff, you'll enjoy Shimmer as well... the women aren't all the same, but the quality is there in the matches.
Plus, the copy you saw in Best Buy was what, $10? (I picked it up at Moviestop for $8 earlier tonight.) It's not too expensive to try it out and see if you can't get hooked on it. Your interest is already there, obviously... just drop a Hamilton on it and see if that interest was well-founded, which I think you'll see that it was when you do.

If you liked a Trish Stratus match, especially Trish vs Lita '06, for the wrestling, then you will love the mid and upper card matches in Shimmer. Trish isn't a Shimmer calibur ring performer.

If you have a general preference for a solid Trish/Lita or Trish/Mickie WWE-style match, then SHIMMER might take some getting used to due to because while the work is just a solid, the overall atmosphere is completely different. But if you've liked the IWA stuff, then I think that means you might be satisfied with what SHIMMER has to offer. The bank isn't exactly being broken with 10 bucks, so you might as well give it a try if you're the least bit curious. I believe that the promotion has a lot of kinks to work out and that there are better volumes, but you might as well start at the beginning to take in the entire vision.

So convince me. Make me BELIEVE. ahem...I rest my case It sure convinced me...Lacey, Melissa, and Mercedes are the reasons I watch. Oh and the fact that female wrestlers have a place to show some long amazing matches without t&a.

Just letting people know, I gave in. I picked up Volume 1 today at Best Buy after my workout. I haven't actually watched any of it yet. But that should come soon enough. I'll let you know what I think of it in this thread and I'll let the SHIMMER office know if they've got another fan they can count on.
