There you go being ageist again. What difference does it make? Even if I was a kid when Hulkamania was runnin' wild I would probably not be all up into that. I was a huge surfer Sting fan as a kid for a reason. I loved the way he wrestled back then, over the top rope when few people were doing that, howling, double dropkicks and all that athletic stuff- not just punch, kick, punch, kick, repeat X 1000. I'm not the kinda fan that would be all into Hogan cause it was big, bright and popular. I never have been that kind of wrestling fan. Bright lights never bought me in, I looked for substance in wrestlers. A wrestler with substance and spectacle was/is the ultimate to me. It's not enough, for me, to just be a Hogan hyped up guy if you can't deliver in the ring. Wrestlers who are the total package are my kind of deal, not wrestlers who are more bark than bite. Substance is wrestling is a great satisfaction.
4 years ago, 7 years ago- it all blends together for me. It's all the same nonsense. They try to be more than just "wrasslin'" but end up being wrasslin' with a crappy taste in music. Sorry, I can't be pointlessly precise but it's always the same old same old in WWE land w/ musical acts. Bad musical acts, sometimes. Motorhead is worlds above Limp Bizkit and Kid rock combined- funny, when Motorhead was there performing Triple H's theme live the PPV was better and WWE was more entertaining. I remember cause I bought that one.
It got press, it became successful, people outside of wrestling were talking about it, Rourke was almost a comeback kid. It was successful. At first, when how it would do was uncertain it was ignored by Titan then BAM! It's on WWE Tv, being endorsed.
She means a channel showing alternative wrestling products. A lot of alienated WWE fans make up the ROH/Chikara/PWG/Shimmer faithful.
[qupte]"I find myself wondering why is it so hard to put together a HBK-Bret caliber match?" This should be more specific. HBK-Cena had an hour fight in 07 after Wrestlemania. People didn't enjoy the Lesnar/Angle Iron Man in Raleigh? Perhaps you mean a classic HBK match each year at Wrestlemania like say, HBK vs Jericho, HBK vs McMahon, HBK vs Angle, HBK vs Undertaker, HBK vs Flair? Do you mean in general, because if you talk to die hard Bret Hart fans there is only one of this man and he can't be duplicated. Why would anyone want to do better and then this example of wanting more of the same match is made?[/quote]
Remember when the wrestling mattered more than the glitz? I mean the glitz will always have to be there in wrestling, it's part of the magical of pro wrestling but remember when matches meant something?

Rourke himself was a no name boxer though I really cant say anything about ROH over the weekend except that, they hotdogged WWE's flagship PPVs name to sell tickets Even in cockfighting, both animals have a 50/50 shot. The point is, going 4-0-2 against a bunch of nobodies is not exactly an illustrious boxing career. Savior seemed like he wanted to make me humble be picking apart my statement about Mickey's boxing career, so that's where that came from. Don't they do that every year, though? Supercard of Honor II was in Detroit, same sight as Wrestlemania 23. Supercard of Honor III was in Orlando, same sight as Wrestlemania 24. You could argue that they ran the first Supercard of Honor in Chicago because Wrestlemania 22 was being held in Rosemont. It's true that they did shows in Detroit and Chicago before those shows, but it's no coincidence they held SOH there the weekend Wrestlemania was to be there. If, at the end of the day, it gives me a great DVD to watch, it doesn't bother me. What bothers me is sh!t like Best of American Super Juniors Tournament. Furthermore, I don't think WWE cares. They've been known to halt or shut down another promotion's show entirely if said promotion is holding a show too close to WWE turf. Hell, a lot of the ROH kids probably attended 'Mania as well, so it's not like ROH is picketing the event, either.

Motorhead is Motorhead and Kid Rock is Kid Rock. Lemmy is a respected rock musician and the other is a joke. Don't mince words and "album sales"*, it is what it is. *quantity does not equal quality.I think sentences like these sum up your posts in a nut shell. Overboard, zealot, personal attack and self aggrandizing. That's awesome. You keep doing that and maybe, if you one day show up and actually talk about shimmer (instead of jumping into the fray to "show off" your conventional logic failures) you'll have more than 13 posts. Everyone and their mama knows ROH is "influenced by the WWE" (thanks for the shocking revelations, ShockMaster). Except it's not the "let's put wrestling in a canned, over processed food format" parts of the E. The names you listed are people who are very highly thought of in indy circles because they are all about the wrestling and know how to make a show work- balanced, not lopsided like the current state of E affairs. My Grandma got me into wrestling. She used to babysit me and watch WCW's Main Event. Not to mention that at the time, there were still UWF relics hanging around this part of the country. EDIT: When I lost my taste for North American wrestling- I focused on joshi. Then I realized what made me like wrestling in the first place and I sought to get back to those "basics". That's an incomplete thought. What are you even talking about in that last paragraph? Things that aren't there? Some people don't watch the E at all.

What is the time WWE wasn't using guest celebrities and musical acts on WrestleMania? Liberace line dancing with the Rockettes is back to basics? Rourke was a terrible boxer? Mr. T only played one in a movie. That's WrestleMania I. I don't know how anyone can say WWE has deviated.

Don't forget if you need a good laugh or have forgotten to take your medicine Bill & Doug updated their video diary. Perhaps Prazak should have sucha video log for the Shimmer weekend.

- Wrestlemarinpiad '89: Crush Gals concert (along with nearly 100 other joshi performances I don't care to list) - Show-Ya plays the entrance themes live on NJPW/WCW Starrcade 1992 in Tokyo Dome - Great Muta's NJPW entrances always had ninja acts and theatrics - All of the NOAH Christmas shows feature the wrestlers singing... "Christmas Eve" (Tatsuro Yamashita), "Christmas Love," "Tsunami (Southern All Stars)" "Happy Xmas" (John Lennon), "When You Wish Upon a Star" (Eikichi Yazawa) - AJPW had Metallica on to play - Lyoto Machida's live musical performance entrance on NJPW Ultimate Crush 2003 - Bob Sapp's dance performances on Wrestle-1 - Attack Haus plays "Shita," "Rush!!," and "Trans Magic" live on AJPW Love & Bump 2004 - Kengo Kimura sings to Antonio Inoki on the NJPW 2.20.2005, Tokyo Ryogoku Kokugikan show - Toshiaki Kawada sings "Sakura" on Hustle House, Vol. 22 - Toshiaki Kawada sings "Sen no Kaze ni Natte" with Moody Katsuyama on Hustle House, Vol. 23 - Toshiaki Kawada sings "Takada Monster Gun no Nande Daro" sings with Tetsu & Tomo on Hustle House, Vol. 24 - Nobuhiko Takada and Kawada sing "Yah Yah Yah" on Hustle Aid 2007 - Ayumi Nakamura sings "Kaze ni Nare" on Minoru Suzuki's 20x20 Birthday show
All that is just off the top of my head. Don't try and say any other brand of wrestling doesn't bring entertainment to their shows.
This idea that Japan's wrestling shows are more wrestling based is ludicrous. If you prefer the action bell to bell or the wrestlers involved, that's one thing. In Japan, their entrances are 3 times as long and all the matches have in-ring introductions eating up time. All the main events have promo video packages the same as here. When they release matches on home videos, they clip them down to the main highlights. WWE doesn't do this to their PPV events. I can cite just as many examples of celebrities and musical performances on Japanese events the same as any North American ones.

Funny that "GOD" can't remember the lyrics to his own songs. not that i would ever defend Kid Rock. J

Sting... hahaha... having RoboCop chase off Arn Anderson, Black Scorpion spooking Sting with his magic acts, having a tug of war with Vader across a table of fire in a magic castle, Vader and Sid blowing up his speedboat. Yep, wrestling "basics."

"Both you and DC have stated that you have attended limited live shows and opt for DVDs. Thats not real time money and a large percentage of these items are on sale after the fact. This doesnt seem like a die hard passion to follow anyone nor contribute to the affairs of their current product."
Not everyone has the time nor the money to follow ROH around like some nasty groupie.

All the namecalling and bashing each other, and you said it. Do you want us folks to go broke following our favorite shows all the time, some of us are lucky to go to Shimmer three times a year. Maybe a ROH, WWE, TNA show if they are in the area, some can afford to follow around their favorites a little more. Let's just stop bashing each other all right.

Personally, I think it's pathetic that you seem to have targeted Tamika (at least from what I can tell) as someone to heap your strange invective upon. Jon, savior, whatever you wanna call yourself, get yourself a life please. There are more important things to do then sit around and write endless paragraphs to someone that you know won't agree with you.

I'd love for the crap to be cut, so to speak, but that doesn't seem possible as long as this guy has this strange urge to come into a message board and argue endlessly for no reason.
