I wanted to post this here on the board for everyone to see. It's reading fan writeups like this that reassures me that our efforts with the SHIMMER project and all of the headaches involved with putting the shows and DVDs together are really worthwhile. Thanks for your support!

All that SHIMMERS is gold.
SHIMMER volume 1 review.
If any ounce of you is a wrestling fan you need to read this review. Better yet, buy the SHIMMER DVD and watch along with this report. Go ahead, I'll wait...
Let's bottom line this right off. Woman's wrestling on TV nowadays sucks. It's not Trish's fault or Mickie's fault. It's not the wrestlers' fault. But come on. That "match" with the water guns between Torrie Wilson and Candice was [image] ing embarrassing. For them and for the viewers. So what's the solution to this problem? SHIMMER. One word. Like Madonna. Watching this DVD for the first time was like having my faith renewed. And it was. In Woman's wrestling. These ladies didn't need storylines or silly gimmick matches to entertain or tell a story. They did it with superb wrestling in the ring.
Rightfully, the first wrestler to appear on the debut SHIMMER show is Allison Danger. She leads the SHIMMER roster to the ring. She takes both command and the mic. She says SHIMMER is here to make a mark on Woman's wrestling. The roster poses for a group photo. I must say, this is the classiest opening for any debut wrestling show.
Before any in ring action begins it should be noted that every wrestler does a great job of letting the audience know who is the face and who is the heel. Keeping in mind that this is most likely the audience's first exposer. Allison Danger and Dave Prazak give commentary. I adore Allison Danger's fingerprints being all over this product. I can't get enough of her. Dave does a tremendous job of giving background info and finishing holds the wrestlers use. Allison provides listeners with experience history of those in the ring.
SHIMMER starts strong with Tiana Ringer vs. Shantelle Taylor. Ringer puts Shantelle in a waistlock and Shantelle cartwheels out. Shantelle puts a waistlock on Ringer and they both cartwheel AT THE SAME TIME with the waist lock still applied. I must have watched that spot 20 times. Play, rewind, play, repeat. So good. You need to see it to believe it. Ringer hits one of my favorite moves, the curb stomp. I warn you now, I might use the word impressive a lot. Tiana Ringer impresses me. She kicked Shantelle over the top of her head. The crowd is throughly into this match. That is nice to see. Shantelle Taylor finishes her off with a missile dropkick from the top.
Team Blondage have an awesome theme song. It fits them like a glove. Cindy Rogers is from my neck of the woods, so she is cool with me. Blondage has heel psychology down pat. They make for awesome prissy rich girls. Team Blondage's antics are throughly entertaining. Blondage steals the victory from Cindy Rogers by cheating.
Rain reminds me of Lacey. By getting up the fans' faces and whatnot. A female ref? That rules. Ariel can really lay in some chops. Ouch. Ariel nails Three Amigos but does snap suplexs instead of the normal version. Ariel kicks out of Rain's Rain Drop. Ariel nails a Diamond Cutter for the 1,2,3.
Lexie Fyfe is a beast of a women. (Don't tell her I said that.) Her theme is the only Sugar Ray song I can stand, RPM. Christie Ricci favors chain wrestling which is my favorite style of wrestling. You can see the Mexican influence in Ricci. Fyfe slaps on submissions that you know are painful. Even more so because it's her applying them. I have no idea how Ricci superplexed Lexie Fyfe off the top turnbuckle. That's pure power. Fyfe powers Ricci up and drops her down with her version of the TKO for the duke.
MsChif has to be the wittiest in all of wrestling. Of course she stands out from the other athletes. Her gimmick owns. If I was wrestling her I'd be freaked out if she screamed right in my face. She is also very innovative in the ring. Cheerleader Melissa slaps MsChif into a very unique submission hold. She folds MsChif up, turns her over and makes MsChif kick herself in the head. Yes, you heard that right. I'll say it again. Cheerleader Melissa made MsChif kick herself in the head. I wouldn't believe it if I had not seen it myself. That is worth the price of admission alone. If you've never seen someone kick themself in the head, buy SHIMMER volume 1. I want to know how to do the submissions MsChif does. They are so good looking. MsChif and Melissa take the fight to the outside. Which you don't normally see in Woman's wrestling. These two make for such a great match-up because they are so different. Melissa uses the guardrail to stretch MsChif. Almost sickening to watch. These two tear each other apart. MsChif hits her Desecrator DDT and beats Cheerleader Melissa. This match ruled.
It's now time for my favorite, Allison Danger. I love saying her name. Allison Danger. She's off commentary and ready to kick some ass. Her theme music is pretty even though I have no idea what it is. Let's go Allison, let's go! What I love about Allison is how she works a crowd. Beth Phoenix should get credit for her running the ropes comedy spot. Allison had me in stitches when she drops down beside Beth Phoenix and poses. Poor Allison's chest.. Er... I mean those chops looked like they stung. You gotta love Beth Phoenix's interaction with the ref. Allison Danger gets the win by reversing a roll up. Yay!
I said seeing MsChif kick herself in the head was the reason to buy this DVD. Your bonus for that is Sara Del Ray vs. Mercedes Martinez. Sara Del Ray is the best Woman's wrestler in the world. No one can hold a candle to her. You are in for a treat. They start off by counter wrestling. They start trading stiff forearms. Sara Del Ray hits a beautiful butterfly suplex. They also trade innovative submission holds. Del Ray hits a series of big boots. She nails a mighty powerbomb. Martinez rolls Del Ray up into a ball. It's hard to describe and it has to be seen. Martinez puts Sara Del Ray into a camel clutch with a dragon sleeper added to it. She then wraps Del Ray into a butterfly submission. Mercedes Martinez and Sara Del Ray go bell to bell. This match is unbelievable. I don't remember a Woman's match ever going Broadway before. I could be wrong. I know I haven't seen that before. Standing ovation from the crowd and deservingly so.
Another theme song I love. Lacey comes to the ring by Disturbed "The Game." I feel bad for Lacey and Daizee for having to follow Del Ray vs. Martinez. But they do it. I enjoy disliking Lacey. She makes being a heel fun. I'd let her spit on me. She has this cockiness few male wrestlers have. Daizee twists Lacey up with several submission moves. Lacey uses a lot of underhanded moves to take control of the match. Lacey loves to talk to the crowd and sometimes herself during her match. Lacey catches Daizee with a Russian leg sweep into the corner. Lacey bends the body of Daizee around the ring post. Lacey hits a vicious spin kick. Daizee hits a spinning stunner from the turnbuckles. Very impressive. Daizee kicks out of Lacey's TKO neckbreaker. Daizee finishes off Lacey with her heart punch/Mind Trip combo. They had a tough act to follow but they did it. The crowd seems out of breath from what they have just seen. Lacey and Daizee get a nice round of applause.
The show finishes the way it started, with Allison Danger. She says what I feel. This is how Woman's wrestling should be done. I don't know if she will read this. If she does I hope she understands how grateful I am. Mostly to her for leading me to SHIMMER. But to the entire roster of 18 Women who gave of themselves to provide the best Women's wrestling today. Thank you, Allison Danger.

My 6/3 Ring of Honor "Destiny" experience.
Last night I went to my first Ring of Honor show. In East Windsor, CT. In my backyard, my hometown. I had a BLAST. Sports World is great for ROH shows. I'm glad they are returning September 15th. More on that later. I get there a little early. I hit the merchandise stand. A pre-show match is taking place. I drop $100 on DVDs. I get ROH Best of Samoa Joe vol. 1, ROH Best of AJ vol. 2, ROH Best of Paul London, Samoa Joe's TNA DVD which isn't even out yet, The Matt Hardy Show season 1, and ROH Fate of an Angel.
I take my second row seat. Another pre-show match is next. A Women's match, no less. That has my interest. It's better than any Diva match WWE has right now. The finish came with an Impaler DDT. I really enjoyed this match. It was quick, yes. But it flowed smoothly. Little did I know I would see another, almost better, Women's match later.
The crowd fills up and it's show time. No pyro. It's not needed. Or missed. Just lights and music baby. Davey Richards makes his ROH debut against Jimmy Rave. The crowd threw toilet paper at Jimmy Rave which struck me as odd. Richards seemed amped. He did a back hand spring into a wheel kick. I'll let you think about that for a second. Back hand spring into a wheel kick? Unbelievable. I think that was impressive.
Next was my first taste of Shimmer. God. This is what Woman's wrestling (in WWE) wished it was. Sara Del Ray owns. Quite simply. I want to take a moment and apologize for the lack of names of wrestling moves. The reason for that is I've never seen these moves before. Sara stood out during the whole show to me as innovative. She turned a sleeper hold into a takedown into a crippler crossface. Trust me, I'm not during the move justice by trying to describe it. After her victory ROH champion, Bryan Danielson, heads the to ring. He tells the crowd the Shimmer match was better than anything seen on TV. And I agree by standing up and applauding. He also says this show is named "Destiny", as in it's Homicide's destiny to win the ROH title. He says that won't happen. He also runs down CT.
Number one contendership for the ROH title is up next. It's a four corner match. Colt Cabana and Delirious were the stars that shined in this match. I still have Colt's theme song stuck in my head. Thanks buddy. This cat is funny. Colt is quick thinking on his feet. Someone in the crowd asked if he could take Colt out for a drink after the show. Colt replied with Diet Coke, hold the ice. Hehe. And wouldn't you know it, Colt Cabana won setting him up for a future title match.
This ROH show brought my many good things. Including my first experience of seeing Fallen Angel live. I consider Fallen Angel the crispest wrestler today. Everything he does is smooth. Accompanying him to the ring is hopefully my future, in the form of Allison Danger. Is it possible to be smitten with another woman? Yeah. And if that's wrong I'll gladly serve my time in hell just for the chance of seeing her. Back to the match. I'm not impressed with BJ Whitmer. Eh. He didn't tap to the Koji Clutch and he kicked out of the Angel's Wings. Screw that. Fallen Angel got the duke with the BME.
Intermission time. I thought I had gotten all I wanted from the merchandise stand so I sat in my seat. Until I see Allison Danger there. I head on over. She takes one look at me and says you look like someone who likes Women's wrestling. I say Hell Yeah! I notice Sara Del Ray is standing beside her at the merchandise table. Allison tells me about the Shimmer DVDs. She asks which volumes do I want. I say all three. This pleases her and Sara. And I'm already sold because I want to see more great Woman's wrestling. Allison says I'm the customer of the night. Sara Del Ray and Allison Danger sign all three of my DVDs. I tell Sara I enjoyed her match. You might ask yourself why I called Allison Danger my future earlier. It goes like this. It hit me like a brick to the skull. Wrestling isn't just a hobby for me. It's something I'd like to be a part of. WWE and the Divas haven't been interesting me lately. I think if I were to be a female wrestler my future lies with Shimmer. And Allison Danger.
Not much to report about the next match. Although the manager Smokey stole the show. I love that guy.
Bryan Danielson defends the ROH title against Homicide. Three things occur to me before the match even starts. One, Homicide is over with the fans. Two, Bryan Danielson makes for a tremendous heel. Three, the crowd wants a new ROH champion. Enter Samoa Joe. He is the special ring announcer. Danielson asks Samoa Joe to refer to him as the "best wrestler in the world". Samoa Joe announces Danielson as the "palest wrestler in the world". That was funny. Danielson and Homicide take the match all around the ring including the outside right in front the crowd. They were really close. Danielson slapped on a submission on Homicide and the bell rings. Homicide doesn't tap. Homicide doesn't submit. The ref used his discretion to call for the bell. Homicide is pissed. The crowd chants bullshit. Samoa Joe asks for five more minutes. Everyone but Danielson seems to think this is a good idea. Jim Cornette is called by a suit to get a ruling on the match. The ruling stands. Homicide flips out and attacks the ref. Samoa Joe tries to pull him off. Danielson attacks Joe from behind. Joe is carried away from the ring. Homicide grabs the mic. He says he's been fucked over from day one and he quits. He slams the mic down and heads out through the crowd. The crowd, and myself, are stunned by these turns of events. I would have liked to see a decisive victory but this ending was different. And like I've said before, I like different.
The last match was for the Tag titles. The thinking behind this was to send the fans home happy. You couldn't leave after Homicide storming out. Great tag match. Lots of double team moves. Austin Aries and Roderick Strong keep the tag belts.
What I loved about this show was no outside interference, not even from the managers. No countout or DQ endings. And no simple roll up and school-boy pins. Wrestlers were doing moves right and left that should have been finishers. I met some cool people as well. Talked with a lot of cool cats. On the way out I purchase two front row tickets for next time. ROH returns to Sports World September 15th. I'm going and I'm bringing Asia with me.
I took tons of pics. You can view then along with more insight at Wrestlingfigs.
But that wasn't the end of my night. I still had to go to work. But that's a whole 'nother story.
