Is their any correlation at all between Shimmer Women Athletes and Chicago based band from the 90s Veruca Salt who had a song called Shimmer Like a Girl?

Yeah, Dave said that the name of the group came from that very song.
When Dave booked the IWA:MS womens division, they had a tournament called "Volcano Girls", which was named after the VS song of the same name. I think plans were in place for a second tournament, which would have been named after "Shimmer Like A Girl" - but before that happened, Dave left IWA:MS and promoted the first SHIMMER show using that name as inspiration.
If you have it and haven't noticed, the girls come out to "Shimmer Like A Girl" for the opening segment on Vol 1.

The alternate name for what wound up being an 11 woman "Volcano Girls" tournament was "22 Arms To Wrestle You." Just kidding. Sparkle while you can.

Why kid? If SHIMMER ever starts subtitling its events, there are loads of Veruca Salt song/album titles that can be used... "American Thighs", "All Hail Me", "Best You Can Get", "Born Entertainer", "Awesome", "Earthcrosser" - and God forbid the day ever comes when SHIMMER runs its last show, there's "Officially Dead" I still think the tapings for either Vols 7/8 or 9/10 should be a new "Volcano Girls" tourney.
