OK, so first of all I don't mean in a literal sense. Although I do kinda worship it, I guess ;D
No, I'm referring to the comicbook named Preacher written by Garth Ennis and drawn by Steve Dillon. So now you're wondering what the greatest female wrestling promotion ever has to do with the adventures of Jesse Custer, Tulip and Cassidy the Vampire? OK, so you might be wondering that. Possibly. Whatever, I'm gonna tell you anyway ;D
Despite my being a big old comic book geek, I never caught Preacher in it's original comic form. I jumped a board a little later, picking up the first collected volume. I read it and loved it. So I had to have more. Back then the first 8 volumes had already been published so I bought the next volume. And the next. The problem was, they were so good that just buying each subsequent volume wasn't enough and I had to get the next one, regardless of other things like food and bills and stuff. Eventually, I had all those available and then had to eagerly await publication of the final book.
So what does any of this have to do with Shimmer exactly? Well it's happening all over again. I've seen Shimmer matches online a fair few times via Clickwrestle and obviously they all rocked. A few weeks ago I finally got around to purchasing my first Shimmer DVD's (vol's 9 and 10). Having the opportunity to watch a whole show, on the TV rather than a computer monitor, that was when just how good Shimmer is really hit home. And so I had to get more... vol's 7 and 8 came next.
And so here I go again. Working my way through what's already out there and looking forward to the new releases. And again, all that real life stuff is gonna be taking second fiddle.
So that's why Shimmer is my new Preacher. Actually Daizee looks a little bit like Tulip ;D
