There are tailored trends in the US. Odds are whenever you see something involving an indy trending, that's just a tailored trend. They made them the default when they implemented them, so you'd have to change it back to regular trends if you actually want to see what most people are tweeting about.

I've never seen anything with an indy trend in the US or anywhere.

mashable.com/2012/07/03/are-tailored-trends-ruining-twitter/"When Twitter announced Tailored Trends, it didn’t spend a lot of time explaining the reasoning behind the change. In a short blog post, Twitter simply said it wanted to show “emerging trends that matter more to you.” Twitter is right, of course, you will see what matters to you most. If you like your world small and self-satisfying, this is a good thing."

When Sara Del Rey was trending worldwide ( when she signed with WWE) , was it also implemented ?

I honestly don't remember. I just know whenever I see a fan, wrestler, or promoter's Twitter account say "We're trending worldwide!" it never shows for me as I have tailored trends turned off.

For instance, #Bananaversary was trending for me in my tailored trends, as a lot of the people I follow were also tweeting about it. For the vast majority of people on Twitter, that would not have been trending at all.

To actually trend worldwide, a gigantic number of people need to be tweeting about it (which is why they are typically associated with major global news stories or live worldwide television broadcasts). With the tailored trend, it just takes a large percentage of those you follow to be tweeting about it.

I've never seen anything with an indy trend in the US or anywhere. Eddie Edwards trended in the US when he won the title, back when ROH was still indie and well before tailored trends. The show wasn't even an iPPV. It was a pretty awesome moment.

He actually trended worldwide for about an hour or so.

How? Probably fewer than 50,000 people on the planet know who Eddie Edwards the pro wrestler is, and much fewer than that were likely to have been tweeting about him.

It's an increase in discussion over a period of time, and he triggered their machine.

His name was tweeted in a very short span of time by the required thousands (or probably tens of thousands) people it takes to make something trend on Twitter. I believe Colt Cabana trended as well, after Punk's "Hi, Colt Cabana" thing.

If you're not careful, I may actually make that his new nickname.
