Hey gang!
This may be a rambling post of sorts but I am beyond exhausted from this weekend. But here goes! First off, I want to say thank you to everyone that came out and supported SHIMMER this past weekend! It was an amazing weekend on so many levels.
Secondly, I owe an extra thank you to all of you who came out with dental supplies to donate to my project. I was overwhelmed with how much support and generousity you all showed. We raised:
41 large tubes of toothpaste 8 trial size tubes of toothpaste 102 adult toothbrushes 23 children toothbrushes 3 bottles of mouthwash 13 containers of floss
I realize that a group donation of this sorts sounded a bit strange when I was contacting the first recommended shelter but the woman working there actually HUNG UP on me when I called to arrange a drop off (a second phone call got me a heel promo from the same woman and a refusal to acknowledge what we were trying to do). However, her loss is another shelter's gain. So tomorrow, at 7:15 am, I will be meeting with Christine of New Moms Inc. to give them the boxes of supplies. New Moms is a wonderful group based in Chicago which helps support, educate and protect young moms who are in desperate situations, whether it be homelessness or escaping abuse. This organization gets these moms and their little ones back on their feet and helps them carve out a better future. For more information, please check out their site at: newmomsinc.org

This makes me feel better, Allison. I left thinking I was the only one who donated. I was in the middle of the line when entering and was the first to put anything into the box with the two bags. That first shelter certainly lost out on quite a generous donation.

Hey,Allison!Always happy to oblige, especially when a great cause is involved Too bad about what happened with the first shelter.but it's their loss.I've always thought that Shimmer fans were some of the best(and in this case, most generous)wrestling fans there are,and you and your dental project have proved my point.

Hey Danger since Dave is at AAW (usually) every month is there any chance y'all can work something out to make this a regular thing for dropoffs at the Eagles Club if AAW allows it?

As of right now the plan is for me to collect at shows all over throughout 2010 and donate the supplies locally. We are planning to do another collection when the next SHIMMER season starts. I would rather hold off and collect a ton at once than have them brought monthly considering I do not live near the Chicago area so someone else would have to house everything until I come back. But thanks for thinking of it!
