In the October 2009 issue of Popular Science, there was a study called the "Global Affordability of Fluoride Toothpaste" (Globalization and Health, June 2008). The study found that tooth decay is the world's most common noncommunicable disease and points out that "cavity-related childhood malnutrition and infection can impair mental and physical development". The article goes on to explain how this affects the world but I began to wonder what I could do to help closer to home. Many people may not realize but I come from a dental background. I feel very passionately about helping the underprivileged find and receive adequate dental care. And here is where you guys come in.
At the November 8th SHIMMER show in Berwyn, IL. I will be collecting any donations fans can bring. Brand new toothbrushes for adults and children, unopened packages of toothpaste, floss, etc. Anything you can donate to help. Once collected, we will be donating them to a local organization who will distribute them to those in need. If this project is successful then I hope to be able to continue this practice on as many shows in 2010 that will let me.
If anyone has any questions please feel free to contact me directly. Thank you all in advance!

Sounds like a great idea Mrs.Danger. Yeah, I believe that you told me once on your forum you once worked in the Dental Field.

I'll donate. I've never heard of anything like this before and as someone that has had several dental problems, the more public information and care the better. I suppose my problems started more around the time of my broken jaw which didn't get set right. Plus dental care is extremely expensive, though that could just be where I live, I really don't know.

God bless the NHS. Although having braces is what led to my first two fillings as I couldn't clean my teeth properly.

Do we have a gameplan yet regarding whether we deliver these items to you a) at intermission, b) at the afterparty or c) throw it in a box as we enter the Eagles Club?

I will bring dental products to donate, but I may end up giving them to some of the fans in the crowd.
