What are you talking about? She beat Mercedes on Volume 25. This is about volume 24........ she talks about losing to Del Ray on volumes 20 and 21 and then losing again on volume 23...... didn't think my post would need much explaining to be honest.

Best commentary EVER during the main event where Portia basically breaks character and her and Dave get into a giggle fest about Melissa almost kicking Del Rey's head in and then Portia begging Dave to keep repeating the instant replay. Classic.

Serena Deeb Promo Pretty good promo, though it did remind me that Serena's lost three of her last four matches. Not the best record for a main eventer. You do realize the subject of the promo was a babyface overcoming adversity, right? To do the promo, she has to, you know, talk about her adversity.

Maybe someone should send a tape of that to Triple H and explain about triumph over adversity as opposed to triumphing over...easiness. Can't wait to hear the giggling, I do love some good corpsing but it'll be a while before I can afford some more Shimmer

Classic. It gets better if you think about it. Portia's constant demands to see a replay sounds like the Teletubbies constantly screaming "AGAIN! AGAIN!"

Classic. Sounds vaguely similar to Royal Rumble 2000 when Taka landed right on his face when being thrown out of the ring and Lawler kept wanting to see it over and over again. The only difference being that Lawler wanted to see it again because as he put it "there's nothing interesting going on here" as the Rumble match was very boring that year, and MelissChif vs. Death Rey + Kong was a totally awesome match. But otherwise, the two situations are similar.

I get that, but I agree with Perez- one fluke victory over Del Ray does not mean she overcame adversaries. It'd like like Barry Horrowitz saying the same thing after beating Skip. Yeah MC it reminded me of that awful 2000 Royal Rumble match where Lawler laughed at TAKA getting a concussion again and again. Sadly the most entertaining moment in that match. It also reminded me of the year later at the Rumble where he laughed at Y2J's sick chair shot on Benoit and had that replayed lots too..... Lawler loves his concussions doesn't he? Closer to home it was also a bit like that great spot at Volume 14 where Rain was laying on the mat, refusing to let go of the ropes. Melissa slaps her left hand off the ropes, Rain uses her right to grab them. Melissa slaps her right hand off the ropes, Rain uses her left to grab them. Melissa slaps her in the face! Awesome.

Overrcoming adversity, not adversaries. The whole Serena story was not letting setbacks stop her from achieving her goals. There's no comparison to Horowitz. Serena's record going into that DVD was 7-9, not 1-15.

Classic. It gets better if you think about it. Portia's constant demands to see a replay sounds like the Teletubbies constantly screaming "AGAIN! AGAIN!" Absolutely. Honestly, I'm wondering if it was pre-planned to do that since Dave hinted about breaking out the instant replay earlier in the card but still.... I'm literally falling on the floor listening to them. The best part was 7 or 8 minutes later, they've calmed down, Portia has gone back to being the snotty heel commentator and then all of a sudden... Portia - "Dave Prazak?" Dave - "Portia Perez?" Portia (in a little schoolgirl voice) - "Can we watch the kick again?" I love Allison Danger to death but that one match cemented my opinion that Portia should be permanent commentator on these dvd's.

I would love to see Jetta guest commentate once, though that probably wouldn't be feasible. It's a little odd how Perez goes from being super evil during her segments to a commentator laughing at Melissa's kick that quickly. Perez is awesome though. I remember in the old 'Who do you want to turn?' thread I said Allison Danger as I love heel commentators, but this option was far better.

Mine arrived today. Have to say while I didn't think very much of the cover art (the concept, not the artwork itself) when it was first revealed, in the flesh it looks wicked. Nice job.

Well that's 24 watched. And all is again right in my world. Head and shoulders above 23 in my opin, and one of the strongest volumes in a long while. Absolutely loved it loved it loved it from start to finish. So much just demands to be watched again and again, from the engrossing, fascinating game of human chess between Mercedes and Madison, to the superior rematch between Haze and Matthews, to the utter war between Wesna and LuFisto, and so much more besides. I can't quite decide if The Mega-Powers vs. The Twin Towers was as good as the headliner from 17 or not, but it was still a strong strong main event. I also never, ever thought I'd hear the words "Lex Luger" uttered on a SHIMMER DVD - but I guess that's why Portia Perez is the best colour analyst in wrestling today Absolutely cannot wait for 25 to come out now and am psyched to the max for November. Bring it on.
