I just sent this in to prowrestling.net. Figure I'll post it here too. ---------
Volume 19 tapings.
(1) Jetta won a battle royal to win a title shot in the main event of Vol. 19. It was old school rules (royal rumble rules) with 2 starting and subsequent entries. People came out in 10 or 15 second intervals. In the battle royal, Lufisto made a surprise SHIMMER return. During the battle royal, Sara Del Ray and Amazing Kong were most dominant, with Kong press slamming Portia Perez over the top rope onto a bunch of other recently eliminated contestants. It took 3 people to surprise Kong from behind to eliminate her. Also during the battle royal, an eliminated and enraged Del Ray pulled Ariel out, setting up a match for later. Well booked battle royal to accomplish multiple things including giving a reason for Jetta to get a title shot when she's not a main eventer.
In an in-ring interview, Daizee Haze explains why she can't wrestle on the taping due to a rib injury, but she vowed to win the championship when she returned.
(2) "Frickin Awesome" Portia Perez defeated Shark Girl.
(3) Serena Deeb defeated Danyah. Good back and forth match. Danyah was much improved over the previous taping.
(4) Ashley Lane & Nevaeh defeated Cat Power & Veronica Vice. Of course they won, they wear matching outfits. Vice is new to SHIMMER. Cat Power was another that has improved in look and confidence since the previous tapings. The fans sang the "Meow Mix" commercial jingle at Cat Power.
(5) Amazing Kong defeated Lorelei Lee. There wasn't much to it. Kong squashed her. Kong finished it with an absolutely brutal spinning backfist that looked and sounded disgusting and looked to catch her on the jaw. Lee was crying after the match and had to be helped to the back.
(6) Nikki Roxx defeated Nicole Matthews. Finally. SHIMMER fans had waited approximately a year to see huge fan favorite Roxx again, who was pulled by TNA after Vol. 12. With the new SHIMMER-TNA working agreement she was able to return. She had a buzz cut and was wearing a gothy fishnet outfit. Quite the change in appearance from her old SHIMMER days. But as soon as she came out it was evident this was the same Nikki we remembered. The crowd did the old "Nikki...Roxx! Nikki...Roxx! Nikki...Roxx. (Insert opponent here)...sucks!" thing and she seemed to love it and both played into it. This was a really fun match. Nicole Matthews has "it". She plays her character perfectly and her wrestling is improving. At one point she was choking Roxx and the ref was doing the obligatory count to 5 for her to break. When he said "1, 2, 3" Nicole shot her arms up into the air and yelled "WINNER!" Nikki finished her off with the Barbie Crusher.
(7) Allison Danger defeated "Dynamite Girl" Jennifer Blake This was a very good match and is probably the best match I've seen out of Danger, surpassing her match against Cindy Rogers on Vol. 14. Great back and forth throughout with little to no slow points. Blake sat Danger in a chair on the floor and hit a move at one point. She put Danger in the corner and hit her with Kenta Kobashi rapid succession chops. She didn't hit quite as hard as Kobashi, but it was still awesome to see. There were some very cool pin attempts in this one, and Danger caught Blake with one just long enough for the 3 count.
After the match, Danger got on the mic and said she was really proud (she didn't specify what she was proud of but I'd guess proud of the new kid giving such a good match or just the fact that it was a good match). She said she was 50% and 50% American. She said she and Blake are the top Canadian talent. "Edge of Seventeen" hit and out came Portia Perez and Nicole Matthews wearing t shirts that confirmed that they are, in fact, ninjas. Portia was casually eating a cookie and Danger asked if her mom packed that in her sack lunch. Portia said they took offense to Blake & Danger saying they are the top Canadian talent when Nicole & Portia are. They set up a tag match for Vol. 20.
(8) Lufisto defeated Rain. Lufisto was very over in her return and got Welcome Back chants. She put Rain away with a Burning Hammer.
(9) Sara Del Rey defeated Ariel. Del Ray has gone full blown killer heel. She has Bull Nakano make-up and has a new hair style and new black outfit (as seen in ROH recently). She dominated Ariel and finished her off by catching an Ariel offensive move and using her strength to turn it into the Royal Butterfly. She slammed her for the win.
(10) Mercedes Martinez defeated Cheerleader Melissa. Very good hard hitting match as you'd expect from these two. Mercedes avoided the Kudoh Driver (AKA Cop Killa AKA Gringo Killa) 2 or 3 times and Melissa avoided the Fisherman's Buster before finally falling to it. Mercedes is still undefeated since returning from injury to SHIMMER.
(11) MsChif defeated Jetta to retain the SHIMMER championship. Some nice comedy in this one. Jetta seemed awfully sure of herself. She was playing up the England vs USA thing due to it being 4th of July weekend. She said she was taking the belt home to the Queen. After using cheap shots and running away from MsChif she was eventually caught on the outside and MsChif destroyed her shoulder using the ring post. Jetta eventually got the advantage again but spent too much time chatting with the fans and got caught with the Desecrater for the pin.
Volume 20 tapings:
(1) Shark Girl defeated Veronica Vice. Not much too this. Some nice comedy for the kids in attendance (the kids next to me loved it).
(2) "The Canadian Ninjas" Portia Perez & Nicole Matthews defeated Allison Danger & Jennifer Blake Perez whispered into ring announcer Joey Eastman's ear to announce them as the Canadian Ninjas, which he did. Good match. Blake hit the Kobashi cops again. Towards the end Danger got hit in the arm and sold it like she re aggravated her injury. Portia saw this and immediately locked on an armbar as Danger screamed in pain. She either tapped or the ref stopped the match, giving the Ninjas the win.
Post match, Nicole made like she was going to go after Dangers arm after the match but Blake and the team of referees held her back. With them distracted Portia walked right over and gave Danger's shoulder a divorce court. The Ninjas then threw Blake into the barricade and walked off as Danger screamed in pain.
(3) Amazing Kong defeated Danyah Danyah got a respectable amount of offense in and got Kong off her feet. In the end she inexplicably tried to give Kong a Death Valley Driver. Kong was annoyed by this and picked her up and gave her a sitout powerbomb for the win.
(4) Cat Power defeated Daffney.
5) The International Home Wrecking Crew (Rain & Jetta) defeated Ashley and Neveah Lane Before the match, Rain had ring announcer Joey Eastman announce that Rain & Jetta miss Lacey.
(6) Ariel defeated Nikki Roxx. The crowd loves both, but loved Nikki more. Roxx went for the Barbie Crusher but Ariel turned it into a small package. She picked up the upset win with a pinning combination.
(7) Sara Del Rey defeated Serena Deeb. Now that Josie is out of SHIMMER Deeb may very well have the worst theme music in the promotion. Regardless, this was a good match. For virtually the entire match, Del Ray worked over Deebs knee. Del Ray busted out the indian death lock but Deeb got to the ropes. No worries for Sara, who just dragged Deeb back into the center of the ring and reapplied the hold for the tap.
(8) Cheerleader Melissa defeated Lufisto. The crowd loved both women. This was an absolutely great hard hitting match. On the floor Melissa grabbed Lufisto by the legs and flung her head repeatedly into the guardrail. Melissa had big plans for a spot with the guardrail but she couldn't get it detached so she seemingly improvised and hung Lufisto in a tree of woe on the guardrail and kicked her repeatedly. Then as Melissa went back in the ring, Lufisto fell from the guardrail directly on her head onto the floor (and it looked like the top or back of her head hit the metal base of the guardrail). In the ring, the two had a forearm battle that went on forever and brought the crowd to their feet going nuts. Lufisto went for the burning hammer but got hit with a sick Kudoh Driver for the pin. Standing ovation for these two.
(9) MsChif defeated Mercedes Martinez to retain the SHIMMER championship Another excellent match. The greatness started right at the bell, as MsChif did her usual primal scream, but instead of being frightened by it like most of MsChif's opponents, Mercedes simply poked MsChif in the eye and shrugged. It was great. On the outside, they traded some absolutely tremendous chops that not many in the wrestling world would be able to match. After a number of these chops, MsChif began bleeding from the chest. One of them was flung extremely hard into the stairs. Just 20 or so minutes of non stop hard hitting action. MsChif finally hit the Desecrater for the pin. Go out of your way to see the last 2 matches on Vol. 20 when it comes out.

Was wondering how the Jetta/Chif match went? Seemed to be a long one judging by the length of time between updates. I'm also hoping Jetta stepped up and managed to silence the critics. It was definitely something of a comedy match, with Jetta running from Chif all night and making her running commentary. I thought she was funny and sold well, and I look forward to seeing more of her. Glad to hear that. Not to play cheerleader or anything (ignore my sig for just a second) but I can't think of anyone who has entertained me more in a live setting than she has and for me personally it was fantastic that she got the top spot last night. Proud of ya, Jetski

It's good to hear Portia got some wins. Kind of sucks to see no Lacey, Daizee Haze, Sarah Stock or Cheerleader Melissa in action. CLM was in action. I see she was, I guess I missed her name when I was reading over the results.

I never really believed she would actually do it but there was no way in HELL I was going to bed until I knew for sure. How nuts is it that I got more caught up in waiting for match results to come through in text form than I have been by anything that, say, WWE have done in probably years?

I liked the young talent brought in at the start of SHIMMER like Tiana, Shantelle, Krissy Vaine and others, -and the madusa sig...Hummm...Someone likes Blondes. -I am missing the logic of locals not asking about a local show. -Guys, It's up to you to yell down those other guys..after their where 4 of them and dozens of you. -Rfury, ...man... MM is good, but brother..she is not Hulk Hogan. You spent the entire thread talking about her and how she should get the strap or not have to Job clean because it hurts her "spot". I know she's not Hogan, besides no one should be similar to Hogan...especially with recent events. I mean now what's next? her and Del Rey "not IV the gold" and make it the last ever encounter (but all things can change and we might see the 5th match) to establish that both come off losses to the champ and whoever wins this match will be the #2 behind MsChif and the loser will become the #3. If Del Rey wants "HER TITLE" she's gotta beat Mercedes, Mercedes even though she lost to Del Rey # Vol 5, that was a "Mercedes beat herself" situation when she pinned herself while having sara in a submission hold, she's never really lost fair and square to del rey and sara now with the Gina Carano/Bull Nakano crossbreed hybrid monster heel gimmick is totally different than the "Fan favorite" "respectful" Del Rey that we saw in 2006. When SHIMMER happens again in the fall allegedly, that should be one of the matches, the winner getting a title shot that same show is a different story. But it's 1 a piece, time to final chapter it.

It's just too bad 10 shows or 5 tapings encompasses over a year and a half time. A lot of momentum can be killed in that much time. Nikki Roxx CLEARLY wasn't as over as she used to be mainly, I think, to it being a somewhat new group of Shimmer fans in attendance. The ones who started the "Nikki" "Roxx" "Other guy" "Sucks" chants don't go to Shimmer anymore so her return kinda lost something I think. The problem is the taping date. Myself and others are part of that group that couldn't attend due to it being over the 4th of July weekeend.

Very nice write up, thanks a ton for sharing it. there is a RoH show from 03 in either MA or CT that has us Chanting "Matching Tights" at Rick Blade and his partner..its an undercard match and we were all about how it was the way to victory..as it of course proved to be then and now. Thank You AD for putting so much effort and time into developing and putting over my favorite rising star, Portia Frickin' Perez.

Here are my thoughts, for what it's worth.
EVERYONE stepped up big-time last night. In particular, Jennifer Blake really won over the audience and had a fantastic match with AD. Also, Ashley and Nevaeh looked better than I've seen them look before. Serena was wrestling like a superstar, and Danyah definitely looked like she belonged. Nikki was over like Grover, I don't know what comments to the contrary are about. The "Nikki!" "Roxx!" "Opponent!" "Sucks!" (or "Roxx!" as well) chants were in full force.
I was sitting beside the guys chanting "Under-Taker!" at Sara. I did not join in. Not saying it's good or bad, but these guys counted along with virtually every one of the ref's counts, near-pins, count-outs, choking, ALL OF IT, and they did it in Spanish.
Both Nikki and Lu received HUGE "Welcome Back!" chants.
Quite frankly, I thought the spot where Portia set the chair up and Blake dropkicked her out of it was pretty frickin' cool. But then, it was my chair she used, which I gladly gave to her. Portia was doing her "break outside of the ring" bit and taking a seat, but Girl Dynamite would have none of it. Two big wins for Portia pushes her up the card, and she looked solid in both. Also, I'm not sure if this will keep on keeping on or not, but last night Portia debuted the "$1000 BODYSLAM CHALLENGE", declaring herself unslammable. AD took her up on it, saying she could do it in the first minute of the match, but Portia quickly tagged out and thus remains UNDEFEATED in the $1000 Bodyslam Challenge.
Both Ariel and Jetta were elevated tonight. From what I hear, that was in fact the plan, and it worked for me.
Kong worked the battle royal and her two singles matches with an injured knee, and should not have been working at all, but Lacey and Daizee weren't there, and Kong is Kong, so she wrestled. She blew it out at the last TNA taping doing the $25000 Challenge with someone who shouldnt have been in the ring with her - or so I was told by a "higher power". She had it wrapped and was noticeably limping at times, and wasn't nearly as mobile as the Kong we're used to, but she still looked damned good. She KILLED Lorelei Lee with that backhand strike. Also, she was ABSOLUTELY OBLITERATED at the after-party, which was fun to see, despite the pain she was smiling, laughing.
LuFisto vs. Melissa and Mercedes vs. MsChif were undoubtedly the matches of the night, but to be honest, if the card looks weak on paper to some, I'm pretty sure the actual viewing of it will yield a different reaction. I think that knowing that they were missing some key figures really brought the roster to rally.
On the down side, yeah, jerks were there. And now I feel bad that I didn't do my part to shut them up, but I didn't feel like engaging in an exercise in futility with half a dozen Cro-Magnons. Seemed like it might've ruined Allison's night a bit, I hope not, but I fear so.
Next time I won't hesitate in my attempts to shut such ass-clowns up.

Good to read some more complimentary posts after the earlier ones suggesting the two volumes were on the weak side. I was not at the tapings and look forward to the DVD. Nonetheless my first thoughts on seeing the results was that the card was weaker than normal.
But really Dave was faced with a number of absentees, Lexie Fyfe, Hosaka, Sarah Stock (presumably known about for some time) Lacey (not sure when her absence was known and then what I think were two late injury withdrawals Cindy Rogers and Daizee Haze. (And possibly also losing Lorelie Lee to injury during the first taping) So all credit to the youngsters for stepping up.
I think Shimmer has some useful talent developing, Ashley Lane, Neveah, Nicole Matthews, Jennifer Blake and of course Jetta. All they need to do is to continue improving and developing a presence for fans (Jetta may have already done this)

This small group just attaked Danger & Del Rey all night long. Del Rey you could kind of understand since she's gone all demonic and stuff but even with her it went beyond heel heat. Stuff like "You've got nothing Del Rey, you're all blown up, you're a has been, put more make up on because you're still ugly". Del Rey got hot and actually pulled Ariel over to the ropes right in front of them and tortured her and said "this is for you" to the ringleader. But Danger? Jeez, I actually felt embarrased to be a wrestling fan and even embarrased to be a local fan for fear she thought she these people were "ours". (They aren't locals, by the way since they were asking people around about AAW, our local promotion that also runs out of the building that Joey would plug between matches). Since they were on the hard cam side you figure it's going to show up on the dvd soundtrack unless Dave can find a way to get it off of there. It wasn't heat, it was disrespect. Danger's trying to do a promo on Portia and the ringleader guy is yelling OVER Danger so you can't even hear her. It was during her 2nd match that she just snapped and yelled at the guy "Why don't you shut up! No one paid to see you! You're what's killing off wrestling fans" and he went right back to yelling at her "No one paid to see you! How much Reynolds Wrap did it take to make your ring outfit? blah blah blah" and on and on... you just wanted to crawl under your chair. Man, sounds like some people need a real life ass kicking What really really pisses me off is these AREN'T "lokel yokel's" as someone put it. Yes, there were about 10 or so AAW fans that came out but we're all Shimmer fans as well. These dweebs actually TRAVELLED here for the explicit purpose to razz Danger, Del Rey and a few others all freaking night. It's called a "life" people. You should look into it.
