SHIMMER - WOMEN ATHLETES returned to the Eagles Club in Berwyn, IL on Sunday, February 12th. Volumes 3 & 4 of the SHIMMER DVD series were filmed over the course of the event. Here's what went down...
1. RAIN def. NIKKI ROXX with the Acid Rain (Japanese Ocean Cyclone suplex).
2. LORELEI LEE def. MALIA HOSAKA with an Oklahoma roll. Immediately after the three count, an irate Hosaka put the boots to Lee and was joined by LEXIE FYFE in the beat down, until CINDY ROGERS hit the ring to make the save.
3. LEXIE FYFE def. MsCHIF with the Attitude Adjuster (TKO). Late in the match, CHEERLEADER MELISSA made her way to ringside and served as a distraction to MsCHIF, until finally tripping her as she hit the ropes, allowing Fyfe to gain the advantage and score the victory.
4. CINDY ROGERS def. AMBER O'NEAL & TIANA RINGER in a Three-Way Elimination Match. O'Neal was the first eliminated, courtesy of a facebuster by Rogers. Cindy then made Tiana tap out to the TCB.
5. CHEERLEADER MELISSA def. SHANTELLE TAYLOR with the Air Raid Crash in just under 20 minutes of action.
6. SARA DEL REY def. DAIZEE HAZE in the main event of SHIMMER Volume 3 with the a german suplex in approximately 20 minutes.
7. NIKKI ROXX def. AMBER O'NEAL with the Cruncher.
8. REBECCA KNOX def. ALLISON DANGER with a Falcon Arrow in her SHIMMER debut. After a very competitive first 10 minutes of mat wrestling, Knox blew out her knee on a leapfrog, causing several officials to rush to her aid in the ring. Just as she was struggling to get back to her feet to leave on her own power rather than be carried out, Knox booted Danger off the apron to the floor with the supposedly injured leg, and proceeded to dance an Irish jig as the crowd became furious. For the remainder of the bout, Knox used every dirty tactic in the book until finally scoring the pinfall in roughly 25 minutes.
9. SHANTELLE TAYLOR def. ANN BROOKSTONE with a bridging cradle.
10. LEXIE FYFE & MALIA HOSAKA def. CINDY ROGERS & LORELEI LEE after a double team flapjack on Lorelei.
11. ALLISON DANGER def. TIANA RINGER with an inside cradle.
12. CHEERLEADER MELISSA def. MsCHIF in a wild Falls Count Anywhere Match. The first ten minutes of the bout was spent inside the ring with both women trading the advantage and utilizing lots of hard strikes and submission holds. Melissa continually tried to lock in the inverted cloverleaf on MsChif throughout the bout, but she was able to block each attempt. The action finally spilled into the crowd, through the lobby, and out into the parking lot. Back inside, a bloody MsChif went to blow the green mist, but Melissa was able to block the attempt with a steel chair. The two battled onto a stack of tables in the back of the building, where Melissa was finally able to lock in the inverted cloverleaf, place the chair on the back of MsChif's head, and then repeatedly ram her own foot into the chair and her own head. MsChif tapped after just under 30 minutes of match time.
13. SARA DEL REY def. RAIN with the butterfly lock into a powerslam.
14. DAIZEE HAZE def. REBECCA KNOX in the main event of SHIMMER Volume 4. The closing moments of the match saw Knox hit the T-bone suplex on Daizee, and attempt a double springboard legdrop, but Haze was able to move out of the way. Daizee hit a missile dropkick of her own, followed by the heart punch and the Mind Trip to score the pinfall in roughly 20 minutes.
Due to the heavy snow in the northeast on Saturday evening and into Sunday, Lacey, Ariel, and Mercedes Martinez were unable to make it to the taping due to cancelled flights. We look forward to having all three back in SHIMMER competition shortly.
Mary-Kate Grosso shot ringside for the duration of the taping, and will have photos from the event up later this week. Additionally, Jill McKee shot posed locker room photos of everyone who appeared at the taping.
The Chicago Tribune was in attendance covering the event for a story on SHIMMER. Keep your eyes peeled to the Trib for their report.
