as u know I just received and watched SHIMMER Vol 1. and it was the best American DVD of wrestling i have ever watched, Mercedes Vs Del Ray lived up to all the hype and even lived beyond it, I can't fathom a rematch between these 2 in the near future. MOTY has been decided already for 2005/2006 and this one is that

I just got my copy today! I have only seen one of the matches so far. I was really suprised at how good the Shantelle/Tiana match was. For having so little experience they were very good. By watching that match you would think that they have been wrestling for a few years.

I'll probably write a longer review when I watch this DVD again, but based on my first viewing I'll only make these observations:
- Best match in my opinion was the main event, Lacey vs. Daizee Haze. Haze makes an excellent underdog and Lacey has quite a few moves up her sleeve.
- Another match I really enjoyed was the first one, Tiana Ringer vs. Shantelle Taylor. No fuss, just 7 minutes of straight in-ring wrestling.
- Wow, that MsChif sure is flexible!
- Beth Phoenix has a great physique, can beautifully work comedic moments into a match (kissing the ref to distract him!) and if she's not misused in the WWE, I think she can go places.
Anyway, that's all for now, I'll have to watch this again before I make further comments!

Hi everyone,
I'm a 20 year old female wrestler in Australia. Yes, Australia has an indy wrestling scene! I am lucky enough to be a part of the best federation in the country, PWA. I am close to debuting.
Anyway, I had the DVD shipped over and all I can say is - WOW! I am so excited about discovering Shimmer and its quality women's wrestling. I am very impressed with every single wrestler on the DVD, although I'd have to say Sara Del Ray is awesome.
Good to see chicks kicking ass like they should be, not just strutting around like eye candy.
I will definitely be buying every volume!
To the Shimmer girls - you are so inspirational. Thankyou for doing what you do and giving hope to us female wrestlers.

Welcome, Amber.
I feel the same way about SHIMMER altough it may sound hack coming from me.

Well, just as I promised I watched "Shimmer - Vol.1" a second time and here are a few comments on the matches. Keep in mind that they are extremely subjective. 1) Tiana Ringer vs. Shantelle Taylor. Good stuff here, two promising young women and fast-paced action confined inside the ring - just the way I like it. I'd give it 7/10. 2) Team Blondage vs. Cindy Rogers and Nikki Roxx. This match is little more than a textbook execution of the usual tag-team formulas. 5/10 3) Ariel vs. Rain. The worst match of the night, it gets the grade it does mostly thanks to the three successive suplexes by Ariel. 5/10 4) Lexie Fyfe vs. Christie Ricci. Just average, though Ricci does a good job considering her size disadvantage - very nice armbreaker by her at one point. 6/10 5) MsChif vs. Cheerleader Melissa. At first I thought MsChif was all about her gimmick, but her flexibility is indeed impressive - and the highlight of this match. 6/10 6) Beth Phoenix vs. Allison Danger. Well, Beth Phoenix ROCKS, it's as simple as that. She has a great physique, she can wrestle, she can entertain and if the WWE wastes this talent it will be a damn shame. 7/10 7) Mercedes Martinez vs. Sara Del Rey. These two are undeniably technically gifted and hard-hitting wrestlers, but I wanted to like this match more than I did. Maybe it was a case of too much hype setting up impossible expectations. 7/10 8) Lacey vs. Daizee Haze. The best match of the night. It has a variety of wrestling moves and a lot of emotion. Lacey is quite resourceful, and Daizee Haze just seems to give 100% of her heart into this match. 8/10 That's it. If some of my ratings seem harsh, rest assured that I hardly ever rate men's matches above 8/10 as well. I will certainly buy Vol.2, if that tells you anything.
