Nicole Savoy New Fighting Spirit Pro High Stakes Champion

Inter-gender matches are a hot trend and a hot topic in the world of women's wrestling.  A few hours ago, I got to see Nicole Savoy, who was so impressive in her first Shimmer outing a few weeks ago, become the first female High Stakes Champion for Atwater, CA's Fighting Spirit Pro wrestling federation.  Nicole's one of the top stars of the promotion, won their 40-man Royal Rumble in June of this year.  It was a good match, but what really made it special was the audience reaction - FSP has a "kids 8 and younger free" policy that means that the audience is probably 40-50% kids, who were loud and enthusiastic the whole show, but especially when Nicole won the championship - quite a nice scene.  I burned my phone's battery to dust making sure I didn't get lost on the way to the event so I have no photos, unfortunately.

This makes the 3rd recent win of an inter-gender championship by a Shimmer girl, if I'm not mistaken

I love Nicole Savoy -- huge core strength -- her german suplex you will not soon forget (unless you're her opponent -- then you won't remember anything).

Nicole was so impressive in her SHIMMER debut! She didn't look like a rookie at all. Her style fits in VERY well, especially with Mercedes Martinez stepping out of the ring for a while. Congrats to her for winning the title. She definitely deserves all the praise!!!

This issue of core strength is one that I was thinking about a lot during that show. There were a number of wrestlers trying do moves that they had watched on tv and thought looked cool - Lesnar's F5, Abyss's Black Hole Slam, just as a couple of examples - and they just didn't have the strength to do them so we watched them doing piss-poor versions of these moves. Nicole absolutely had the strength to do everything she tried, as did her opponent - making their match one of the best of the night even before the crowd's reaction to the title change took it to another level.
