In other words people who you felt would've been a lot better had they stayed around or a bit longer, the first thing I think of when the term underrated is mentioned is Mena Libra, she had an extremely cool look that stood out even with people like Leva Bates and Kana around at the time, even though she's apparently had a kid (if so then much respect to her) she's someone who I thought could've legitimately gone on a winning streak and climbed the ranks of the roster.
I also liked Mia/Maja Svensson, even though I honestly question her claims that she was born in Sweden, I was listening to the Fight Like A Girl interview with her and she didn't even have the accent I thought she would, considering she's a young girl I thought the accent would've stuck with her for more years but that's besides the point, I really liked her match with LuFisto on Volume 43 and I think that that volume was literally the only time we saw Mia, I'd be interested if she came back and picked up where she left off, she also punched Peegaboo which automatically makes you awesome (or a ultra-heel)
Another one who I think would be great rising up the ranks would be Veda Scott, I could imagine her turning heel on Shazza and thus ending the most adorable tag team in Shimmer history, and seeing her heel work with the equally awesome Gregory Iron makes me confident that Veda could shine rising up the ranks, same goes for Shazza if she were to turn heel and rise the ranks.
Of course simply changing something about them might not make them more believable climbing the ranks, I would've put someone like Jessie McKay as underrated but with all due respect to her, what about her has changed, apart from when we saw that she an heart of absolute pure gold when she refused to cheat to beat Melissa for the Shimmer Championship, to be honest I don't know what Jessie could do to rise up the ranks when she returns but I'd discuss it in the Jessie McKay thread.
So who are your picks for the most underrated Shimmer wrestler

Agreed on Mia Svensson, she is awesome.. would love to see her more often. Obviously I'd say Jessica James is/was super underrated, felt she was just starting to breakout in Shimmer before she was cut off. Always felt Nevaeh has been underrated for a long time, very glad she's been getting to shine in Shine though.

Agreed about Mena Libra. I also miss Hailey Hatred!
Is it just me or do all the bigger women end up doing comedy?

I don't think a lot of them do, the bigger women in wrestling like Libra and Hatred, to even Viper in the Scottish indies tend to be quite serious, take no names ass kickers, Hatred even had some vulgarity to shake things up when she was in the Monster Army and I would've liked to have seen Mena on her own rather than with Melanie Cruise, Mena just seemed like she would shine brighter as a singles star. If she's been around now I'll even say she could be a heel contender for the Shimmer Championship.

I never saw as much in Mena as all you did obviously. Nevaeh is a decent lower-card heel imo and not much more. She's great with the fan interaction, but in-ring wise does nothing that Cherry Bomb and Kimber Lee don't do better.
Jessica James however was brilliant. Great call there, her match with Athena is one of my favourites from the recent few years.
I can't really think of many that were underrated. Perhaps people don't remember just how insanely good Rebecca Knox was? She came to Shimmer while MsChif, Melissa, Haze, Lacey, Del Rey, Mercedes were all there and completely outclassed them all. Sarah Stock had a similar impact when she arrived too. While MsChif is beloved I don't think she's given as much props for what a technically great wrestler she was in her prime. I saw a short, but very crisp match between Haze and Alexa Thatcher so maybe Alexa? But then Thatcher only had four matches in Shimmer.
My answer would be Eden Black. She was brilliant and could have sensational matches with everyone from Lacey to Amazing Kong and the Garden of Eden was one of the most exciting moves in Shimmer. My second choice would be Tiana Ringer, great from an in-ring and character point of view.

Melanie Cruise - Should be way higher on the card, and deserves a title match Evie - I know she's still new, but she's too awesome to not be underrated in her current spot Neveah - Has everything needed to be a big star in SHIMMER Shazza McKenzie - Deserves a chance to move up on the roster away from Veda Christina Von Eerie - Could be a poster girl for the promotion, and could be a top star

I loved Mena Libra. I thought she really struggled as a singles competitor, but when she was teamed with Cruise, I thought that was going to be her moment.
Veronika Vice is on my underrated list. I think she could be so good in the ring; it's a shame she was on so few volumes.
Out of all of the women currently on the roster, I think Miss Natural is very underrated. She is such a solid performer. She plays the heel role really well, but in terms of wrestling ability, she is one of the best.

I don't know if Heidi Lovelace is under-rated, but I was very impressed by her performance in Saturday's National Pro Wrestling Day match vs Joe Pittman. It's got to be a challenge for a petite woman to wrestle a much taller man and not just take big bumps well, as Heidi certainly did, but to make her offense believable and make it a credible match. Heidi definitely impressed me, with kicks that reached the top of Pittman's head high in the sky. Even though it was an un-finished match, being interrupted by a whole squad of anti-Chikara types, who were then fought by the pro-Chikara forces, which led to the announcement of Chikara's return on 5/25/14.
That whole brawl was rather a mess, and watching on Youtube I was unable to understand anything that anybody was saying - it was turned into something exciting by the incredibly live crowd - I had tears in my eyes seeing how much that audience craved the return of Chikara. But anyway, back to Ms Lovelace - her performance is what really stuck with me and made me want to see more of her - good stuff!

Good call. Heidi has been a highlight every time that she's been on SHINE, she's fantastic.

Melanie Cruise - Should be way higher on the card, and deserves a title match Evie - I know she's still new, but she's too awesome to not be underrated in her current spot Neveah - Has everything needed to be a big star in SHIMMER Shazza McKenzie - Deserves a chance to move up on the roster away from Veda Christina Von Eerie - Could be a poster girl for the promotion, and could be a top star I don't agree with some of those myself. -Melanie Cruise isn't main event level yet. Her match with Hiroyo is the only one I would say was great. She's got plenty of potential though. -Evie's place on the card is just right for her. She's a current midcarder who's only had one trip to Shimmer thus far and when she returns she'll be mixing it up with the upper midcarders no doubt so she's in the perfect spot right now. -Nevaeh is still to have a real break-out singles match. I'm all for her getting chances to impress, but until she shows she's the equal of the Eagle's, the Kana's, the Mercedes' then she'll be tagging still. I would love to see Kana vs Nevaeh though! -Shazza McKenzie is pretty great. I'm not sure if you're implying Veda is holding her back though, because I think Veda's got huge potential with her superb heel lawyer character she does outside of Shimmer. I'd advocate for more tag teams though if you want to end theirs. -Christina Von Eerie however I totally agree with. I feel bad for her in that what was meant to be her big break-out match against Saraya was hampered by an insane stipulation that ruined the match and the venue's time limit which hampered the last three matches on the show. But she's got main events in her future for sure.

Did that match go on so long that it busted time limits? It seemed brief and to the point to me. I got over my fascination with "hardcore" matches a while ago, so I wasn't much of a fan of that match. But it showed the toughness of von Eerie, which I thought was the whole point. Part of the great-ness of Saraya Knight is her ability to build up her opponents. The challenge for Christina is to follow up on that match and be a believable force to be reckoned with in the ring. She's inconsistent, in my opinion, though she's a very appealing character.

Since it's no longer PG, maybe this trend will change?

I recall the ring having to be fixed for quite a while and I felt the three way match between Kana/Eagles/Shida was very short, though incredible while it lasted, and Lufi/MM was also very short hence why I think they brawled through the crowd to make up for it. If I remember correctly the stipulation for Saraya/CVE was announced the volume before so they had to have the three stages of hell match, but it seemed like the match had to be made shorter so they had 5 (or was it 10?) minute time limits. The first fall ended in a time limit as expected, and it appeared that the 2nd fall ended in a time limit draw too while CVE had Saraya in a submission. That ending was fine, it meant that we were level going into the street fight, but it also showed that Saraya was saved by the bell... what happened next I don't know, but either the ref, Kevin Harvey or Saraya seemed to pull an audible and announce that Saraya had submitted. However this was odd because a) it didn't appear that she had submitted and b) it meant that even if Saraya won the final fall she could only tie the match. Very strange. I dunno, maybe that was how the match was always laid out, but it felt like something was off with it.

I think it was 5 minute rounds and round two was really confusing. I'm assuming it was intentional comedy, maybe, but Knight kept trying pin CVE in the submission round.
