Oh, and thanks for getting my chair back (I think that was you?) If you're talking about following the Shida jumping knee spot, that was me.

Goddess-I took two direct knee shots last spring. Both knees, which are already scheduled for replacement, looked like water balloons on Monday. I learned my lesson. Knee pads are now part of my SOP. Of course this weekend I did not need them, but if I did not wear them....
GREAT weekend. Old and new friends to share memories with (Kumera, Tony, the person that ate with Tony and I Saturday, Donald, Stew, and the gentlemen I ate dinner with at Paisan's on Sunday). Too many good matches to talk about, but a number of short thoughts. We have a new star in the company in Nikki Storm. The crowd (including me) now loves the Backstreet Boys! Kimberbombs are the bomb. Kay Lee is sneaky good, Havok is as scarey as Saraya, and Shida is, well, beyond description. Eagles and the Ninjas, can't wait to see where that goes. And the best tag team on the planet is 3G!. Heidi gets better by the minutes. Courtney is going to threaten Melissa soon, as well as Athena. Kiwi Kicks. Melania, Kay Lee and Nikki made me cry for a second time at Shimmer, this time with laughter.
In Dave I trust.
As always, breaks are too short, and I so admire the toughness and condition these athletes (and we can't forget the back stage people) are in. To put in that much work and be so very responsive with the fans. Having Lufisto come and shake every Shimmer fans hand on Sunday says it all. Class acts. And we all saw the human being part of many of them on Sunday.
And I said that verbally in a fast run on sentence!
And Chicago drivers use their turn signals. It was a strange sight for a Kentuckian! I spend way too much money!
Hurry Up October!

Top to bottom one of the best tapings I've seen live. Everyone did an amazing job. I had the good fortune to be able to bring my boyfriend with me, he's a huge indy wrestling fan just hadn't been able to attend before. He loved all of it and came away with a largely positive opinion. Always love seeing a first timer's reactions. ^_^
The only thing that didn't make sense to me was the LuFisto story. Yes she did lose to Melissa at the iPPV but if Danger is going to be some kind of authority figure then she should have mentioned the cheating and either gave LuFi another shot or put her vs Mercedes as a number one contender match. The tag match could have set up a rematch nicely. Hamada got her title shot after pinning Eagles when it was her/Melissa vs Eagles/SDR, which set up some tension between the aforementioned partners.
But to see LuFi go back down to midcard against Nevaeh (nothing against her, the match was good), then Danger proclaims that M&M are right and LuFi needs to climb back up the ladder - that makes no sense. Yumi got a title shot after one win after being gone from Shimmer for a year, the argument could be made she didn't earn one either. At least Mia Yim did by beating Mercedes. The stuff about LuFi having a shot if Yumi were to win pretty much sealed the deal that she wouldn't and LuFi would interfere.
Then Melissa & Mercedes lose the tag match, Melissa beats Yumi and Mia, Mercedes beats Shida, loses to Mia - yet M&M get the tag title shot. What?
It was very inconsistent booking and yes I'm a LuFisto fan and proud of it, but the details were very confusing and threw me and others off. Plus to tease a heel turn for her just confused the crowd. Maybe her beating Saraya will lead to a title shot but at this point who knows. It was the main thing that soured me on the tapings. Hopefully in the Fall there will be a plan and more consistency. And yes I do hope LuFi gets a fair shot at the title - even Eagles beat Melissa fairly and cleanly in their first title match.
3G can stay tag champs forever though. I'll never get tired of watching them wrestle.

If you want to be technical, Ohka had actually won three in a row - Matthews, Mizunami and Athena - that Danger felt put her in title contention. Though for sure under the same circumstances, Kana should get the Volume 67 shot, with three big singles victories.

Leaving off Mia Yim and Nikki Storm? That list has no credibility for me.

I raised the same point about Nikki Storm, especially considering Cherry Bomb is on the list for some reason (I guess to better highlight Kimber Lee). Mia's been on SHIMMER since volume 37. Although she is still very young, I think calling her new blood would be a stretch when KLR literally debuted last week and is already over.

Btw who was the Spider-Lady? The two names I heard from people were Lexie Fyfe and Miss Natural... but until then, she wasn't exposed, so it should really remain a mystery.

A woman hiding her identity under a mask? Hmmmm, who do we know who did that before?!!! So who is under the mask is going to be an ongoing story? I read the result and assumed it would just be a throwaway thing like Skilled Death Artist #2.

Btw who was the Spider-Lady? I dunno, but she was definitely fabulous. I could see her raking in some real moolah.

Thank you for posting that, I listened to the whole SHIMMER/Women's portion. I was trying to Google out how Joshi 4 Hope was structured literally yesterday so it was good to find some elucidation on that. Same goes for the SHIMMER hierarchy too, I wasn't aware Portia was involved in booking (totally agree that she's national fed quality with several hats).
