Live commentating? Hmmm, I think Dave is great usually but the worst thing on the iPPV was the commentating by quite a wide margin. Him and Amber both kept joking about being drunk and despite Amber's protests to the contrary it wouldn't surprise me if they were. Also saying that if Thunderkitty was trained by Moolah she would be a better wrestler was a very odd remark. One can only assume he meant that if Moolah was trained by Thunderkitty then Moolah would be a better worker. But this just adds to my arguemnt against live commentary.
I can only assume this was done in Berwyn as a tester to see if they could handle live iPPVs from the Eagles Club, but I hope it doesn't mean we no longer get the usually brilliant production values and commentary that we are used to.

Nothing to do with a tester re: iPPVs. It's to try and get the DVDs done quicker.
This way, they don't have to try and find a several day hole in their schedules where Portia & Dave can get together to record post production commentary. Now it's done, the only major post production is the video edit, which hopefully will get done faster.

Live commentary >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> taped commentary, especially in Dave's case. While the SHIMMER commentary is usually entertaining, you just can't replicate the emotion and reactions you have to seeing something live. Part of what made Jessicka Havok's debut so memorable to me is Prazak's commentary, screaming into the mic about how she's not a member of the roster so how dare she crash the show and lay out Deeb. I'm all in favor of SHIMMER moving to live commentary for that reason alone but the sped up production time is a sweet bonus as well.

I heard a lot of the commentary, and it seemed fine.

Agreed. I heard a good amount of the commentary and it was fine. Also agree on the iPPV. Amber sounding like she was loaded was really, really bad.
The LuFisto story...man. I hope there's some kind of satisfying or interesting something. Ending her chase in a promo and possible heel turn no one wanted..eh...I don't know. In my little area a lot of people were audible in their confusion on why she was wrestling the third match and not doing something with Melissa on the second volume.
Yesterday was very much a marathon. Didn't end until after 10, which is an hour-ish later than normal. Overall, volume 63 was fantastic. 64 is worth it for Kana vs Thunderkitty solely because it's freakin Kana vs Thunderkitty!

The champ loses tag team main events all the time. Quickest way to establish a new challenger. That may be true as an industry practice, but both MsChif and Eagles lost their championships to challengers who were uninvolved in the preceding tag team loss. In fact, if you want to go that route, Portia Perez and Nicole Matthews won the tag team main event on Volume 29, and the first time either of them got a title shot wasn't until Volume 45. Hamada and Kurihara both received their only title shots before their tag team main event win.

While that makes sense Shine record their commentary live and it still takes over a year for their DVD's to be released.

SHINE is in an production queue with Dragon Gate, Evolve, and (I believe) FIP, and all those promotions' events are released in order of the date they occured. SHIMMER is their own queue, and while the production work of those promotions could delay work on SHIMMER, ultimately when a SHIMMER event is ready, it'll go to production. The live commentary and (if I understand how the new equiment works) lack of capture process will be extremely helpful.

Hopefully the delay on Shine DVD's and all the other WWN Live DVD's will get shorter. For a while, they had the philosophy that they should encourage people to get the ippv's. Late last year, Gabe Sopolsky said that they had re-assessed and had decided to put more resources into DVD's, and they certainly put out a good amount of Evolve and DGUSA DVD's (the only ones that I was really paying attention to) over the next few months.

The general consensus amongst the guys I've talked with is that this may have been the most consistent SHIMMER weekend ever, if not the best. Just too much to really sum up right now.
There's so many amazing women on this roster - heck, Madison Eagles couldn't wrestle on Sunday and the in-ring quality was still freaking amazing. With any luck, the implementation of live commentary speeds up the release of the DVDs, and we can enjoy this fantastic weekend quicker than normal.

Getting the barrier slammed into your knee really, REALLY hurts.

Yep. You don't think about protecting your self until it happens (or two or three times for me )

I scooted my chair closer so I wouldn't have to keep doing squats to get over the barrier so it's my own fault. LuFi kept apologizing and I told her hey, I'm just glad to be part of the show!

Wasn't that bad over at my side, and that's usually Melissa's favourite area to do damage. We did have a few landings, but they stopped short of ramming into the guardrails.
