What about Lenny? Get the old 2005 ROH team back together? I hope it is Lenny Plus it could continue the feud of Lenny Vs John "Go sing a song of sixpence Stalker McGee" (if you're in the SHINE FB Group you'll know the whole story) Far be it from someone in the wrestling business to be less than truthful, but Lenny says he'll be in attendance as a fan only today. Dave & Lenny is a good team though, but that John guy doesn't need any further mention or attention.

If you hadn't watched 62 yet, just buy it. You will get your money's worth.

(non-spoiler mini-review). I thought the new ippv was good, but I know Shimmer can do better. The last three matches were great, but the rest... just lacked something compared to 53. It felt like most of the wrestlers were saving their energy. If that's the case, I can't blame them, since they've got another round of tapings so soon. If there were no horrendous injuries this time, that's a blessing. The venue looked surprisingly good, though nowhere near the grandeur of Wrestlecon. Seems there were sound problems making some of the in-ring speech hard to understand (other than the announcer of course). I'm sure it was better in person, though. I will confess I was also tired when I was watching this online, so maybe it'll be better on the replay tomorrow/whenever. This wasn't a bad show by any means, but it felt like something of a let-down compared to the last ippv (which set the bar so high). I really hate to say all that, but that's my opinion. PS: Interesting use of cross promotion this time.

I personally thought that SHIMMER 62 was better than SHIMMER 53; at least in terms of matches. Not that the matches in SHIMMER 53 were bad, but overall I enjoyed SHIMMER 62 better. I think that SHIMMER 62 having a smaller crowd/venue atmosphere is what might be giving the impression to some people that the show lacked something in comparison to last year's IPPV. Also, seeing so many new faces in SHIMMER might at times have made people not feel that they were watching SHIMMER.

I loved 62, and felt it was a better total package than 53, even with the smaller crowd and the not so great visual of the building, but the fans were way more into it.
Evie vs. Shida was a world class match, and both Ivelisse vs. Lee and Athena vs. LeRae were great. The main event was really good until the finish.
I also like the development of the dilemma Nicole Matthews has found herself in, as it appears she may have to choose between Portia and Madison. Wouldn't be surprised if this leads to her breaking away from both of them and going it alone.

I'm surprised some of you guys liked SHIMMER 62 over 53. I absolutely loved 53, and consider it my favorite SHIMMER volume to date. I did not feel this way about 62 today watching it live.
It had it's moments such as Shida v.s. Evie which was excellent, and it did have a good crowd, but there was a lot of sort-of unimpressive matches on this card. The main-event was interesting, but not great. It could have been great had it not been for the crappy ending which cheapened the whole match; which was otherwise pretty good. I really hope this isn't the end of Mellisa v.s. Lufi; This feud deserves better.
I must admit that I missed most of Leva v.s. Veda, and About half of Rush v.s. Martinez, but I'll catch those tomorrow on vod. I did love seeing Daffney as announcer, and I enjoying seeing all the new faces. On the other hand; there were a LOT of missing talent that made me like something was missing (MsChif, Christina Von Eerie, Made In Sin, Serena Deeb, etc.), and the Commentators were drunk for Christ's sake (Amber Gertner was anyway, Prazak seems to be liquored up any time he has an excuse to be so I gotta assume), lol.
Overall, I thought 62 was a pretty "meh" kind of a show. Comparing it to 53 for me feels like comparing a TV Dinner to a homemade Lasagna. Just a huge difference in quality IMO. I still hope they make it a tradition, I think SHIMMER would draw a great crowd out here in Cali next year, and If they put out they kind of booking and marketing effort that they did on 53; it could be awesome.

I'm surprised some of you guys liked SHIMMER 62 over 53. Some? The general consencus on Twitter and around the interwebs so far would suggest almost everybody feels that way. I know I do. Overall, I thought 62 was a pretty "meh" kind of a show. Meh? Meh!? That was the least meh show in the history of meh. It was almost completely devoid of meh. The opening and midcard matches were all considerably better than than average and the stand-out matches were immensely standout. For me the only weak points of the entire show were the commentary (and to be fair, I'm not a fan of any commentary, good or bad) and the finish to the title match. But after a show of such mind-blowing awesomeness from start to finish, the good stuff vastly and overwhelmingly outweighed the bad.

I expressed genuine surprise at your summation of 'meh', but I wasn't having a pop or anything. At least, not intentionally. I am curious which matches you considered "sort-of unimpressive", simply cos I honestly can't think of any that fit that description. I'm struggling to think of match on the card that I would even describe as 'just' average, let alone anywhere approaching unimpressive.

Yeah, I have to totally disagree with the notion of it being "meh", and of 53 being better.

Thought 62 was really good. Kay Lee Ray vs. Vanessa Kraven, Athena vs. Candice LeRae, Hikaru Shida vs. Evie, Ivelisse vs. Kimber Lee, and Melissa vs. LuFisto were all pretty stand out matches. Can't do much about the venue, but it didn't look that great on the hard cam, but at least you could hear that there was a lot more people there not on the stage.

I don't tend to assume a later show will always be better than a later show. It could be that an earlier show will be "less intense" because the performers are saving their energy for later on. On the other hand, it could be fatigue and/or injuries accumulate and make a later show less intense. Intensity alone isn't the sole determining factor of quality either. Still, I'm always interested to see what other people thought of the show, even if we disagree. Take these reviews for example: www.pwponderings.com/2014/04/05/shimmer-62-live-ippv-results-and-review/Match average 2.73 stars pwponderings.com/2013/09/25/shimmer-53-review/Match average 2.86 stars (for reference, he gave Vol. 56, 3.02 star average) Yet the same reviewer says 62 had better wrestling. Go figure.

Can't do much about the venue, but it didn't look that great on the hard cam, but at least you could hear that there was a lot more people there not on the stage. This catches what I thought were a lot of the highlights. The Matthews/Eagles interaction was awesome - and points to something I particularly liked about this show as compared to 53. This show felt more like a Berwyn-style Shimmer show in the way it built towards new relationships, as compared to 53, which seemed like it was oriented to the larger crowd, needing to be conclusive. As a Shimmer fan, I enjoyed this more. Nikki Storm is just a joy factory for me, so any second that she's around, I'm happy, and I thought the tag-team match was solid. The first couple of matches were not very intense or anything, but they were fine getting-into-the-show matches. The main event made me think how lucky people were that were going to next week's Berwyn shows, because it seems like things could get really crazy. Ivelisse and Mercedes had a rematch from the most recent Shine show at the final DGUSA show Saturday night. It seemed like Mercedes was legit-injured at the end of that match, but I saw her and Melissa at the airport very early this morning, and Mercedes seemed perfectly fine, wasn't walking strange or anything.
