If you want to get into the current era and familiar with the roster as it is now, I would say start with 41. It was the debut of Kana, the middle of the Madison Eagles title reign, beginning of the Kurihara & Hamada tag title reign, etc.

I would always say buy the earliest DVD you can buy while you still can. I got into Shimmer after volume 7 had sold out and I am still looking for that to complete my set. If not that I'd say Volume 29- the start of the Joshi invasion and if you like it then work your way forwards and backwards.

I believe there are pretty much four "eras" of SHIMMER - Volumes 1-18 (the Del Rey era), 19-28 (the MsChif era), 29-44 (the Joshi emergence/Eagles), and 45-today (Melissa/Saraya, the rise of Athena, Skater and Rush amongst others).

I'm getting my buddy into SHIMMER, and I let him borrow 43 as a starting point because I thought it was the best volume considering the matches and roster. Melissa v.s. Kana, Del Rey/Madison v.s. Hamada/Kurihara, Serena V.S. Portia etc.

Not bad, I go by 10's though. 1-10 The Non Title Era (Del Rey/Mercedes, MsChif/Melissa, Haze&Danger/Knox, Ringer, rise of Roxx) 11-20 The Del Rey Era (Del Rey's title reign, Sarah Stock, IHWC, Yeeeaaah) 21-30 The MsChif Era (MsChif's reign, Perez/Danger, Aussie invasion, tag team title, move to 4 Volume weekends) 30-40 The Eagles Era (Eagle's reign, Joshi invasion, The Knight Dynasty, Melissa's chase for the title) 41-50 Melissa & Knight (Melissa's title win and defeat, Saraya's revenge, Eagle's downfall, Athena's rise)

I'd say start with volume 44, where Cheerleader Melissa wins the title

^ If you can find 'em anyway. 22 is history, and who knows how long 20 and 21 will still be available.

I know of someone who will soon be selling off his collection of the first 25 or so SHIMMER DVDs. I've told him to set up an account on here to advertise them.

Now is it worth buying all 25 just for volume 7? Hmm...

^ Considering that I've got quite a few of them; no. But if this dude is selling them individually; then I would be very interested in making a deal. I only need 7-12, 15, 16, 18, and 22.

These volumes are nearly gone and feature of the greatest matches ever in Shimmer imo. Del Rey/Deeb, MsChif/Mercedes and the sublime Del Rey & Danger vs MsChif & Melissa.

All ROH has left as far as their stock is concerned are some copies of 19, 21, and 32. Highspots still has some copies of 13, 19, 20, 21 as far as the older stuff goes. Once they sell through those, we will put the few remaining copies we have left up on the SHIMMER site. Once those are gone, they're out of print.
Neither Highspots nor ROH have any copies of 22 or 28 left. I'll be adding them to the SHIMMER site later today. Get 'em while they last.
