Cena's Law: If you lack the ability to discuss wrestling without comparing someone to John Cena, your points are probably entirely ridiculous.

Ooh, one more Top 5 List from the weekend. Top 5 "OW!" Moments.
1. Saraya's Bridal Rocking Horse 2. Pick a Yumi Ohka Jumping Yakuza Kick. Any of them. 3. Any of the strike exchanges between Ayako Hamada and Kana 4. Any of the kick exchanges between Hamada and Athena 5. Every single strike Kana landed.
Honorable mentions: 1. Mercedes Martinez once again blistering MsChif's chest from chops. 2. Shazza McKenzie and Santana trading chops and forearms while both were doing the splits. 3. Whatever in the hell it actually was that caused Rhia O'Reilly's epic shiner. 4. Portia Perez stomping on Hamada's foot. Even Hamada said so herself. "Ouch."

Honestly, it wasn't even really that she "became" a face, it kinda just happened. Although, I guess the way Vol. 51's Main Event went down, it was almost assured to happen. Cause, we still had all the fun we usually did with her, but instead of getting angry, she just embraced it a little more, lol. That's cool, thanks for explaining. I'm just glad to hear she won't get boring even if she goes straight edge. *** I actually got into a bit of an argument with the guy I was sitting next to a bit over stuff like this (sorry for anyone who heard us, it was short). Basically I feel like a heel or a face has to earn that designation with the crowd/fans and a change even more so. I think their performance should speak for itself, especially when we don't have a live announce team telling us how to react. If it all has to be done through plants in the audience I can understand it if they don't have the time to create more videos or whatnot, but it's far less effective I feel. On a related note: when it comes to people who debut on Shimmer or who haven't been seen in awhile, how are we supposed to know how to react? Is it just if they high five somebody on their way in that they're good and they're bad if not? Because I see crowd reactions, but if you're not seeing their initial entrance it's easy to miss. Looking back at some early Shimmer volumes, it seemed like there were several heels who just walked in straight to attract boos, that was it. They didn't do anything. Other people walk in and get cheered even if they don't slap a single hand. I remember back in the day there was a discussion on here about "heel marks" and that sort of (people cheering for the "wrong") folks. I know with the WWE stuff people complain about the company trying to force stuff down the audience's throat. I know they have a story to tell and best laid plans, all that, I just think the idea of having characters form organically and the company taking note of reactions to guide things sounds a lot better. Re: Cuda's rant about the annoying fan interaction: WHAT? YES!YES!YES! J/k ;p Yeah, that could be dialed down a bit with no loss for most of us. This was only my third live show so I'm probably not as sick of it as some people already. Just my thoughts atm anyway. If I didn't enough already, great job to Dave & co. and all the talent for a great weekend! Learn from Madusa in WCW in 1991 when she was about to climb into the ring she would stop turn around and kick or knee the railing by the fans then get into the ring. Like she did for her match with Judy Martin. www.dailymotion.com/video/xa90nw_madusa-vs-judy-martin-wcw-1991_sportit was cut from this but that was what had happened.

Lots of interesting reading in this thread. Some comments.
I'm the old guy in the ponytail (who truly is a grandpa) with the three kids at ringside.
I want to apologize to those around us on day 1. We had a talk about not getting up so much as well as the importance of being in their seats for the matches. It got better, but there bladders are small :-)
The three of them are scared horribly by Saraya when she comes out and during her matches. I really want to taunt her once and have some good taunts in my mind, but they all beg me not to. So I don't. They stood in the back during the Athena v Saraya match and seeing Saraya stare them down twice was a scream for me. it scared them enough where I took them over to talk to her for a moment at intermission.
As for the PG part of the show. We went to the AAW show on Friday night. We saw some folks we had never seen before (Sami Callahan, Silas Young, Mr. Miller) who I was impressed with but the language was over the top and I won't return to that show till the girls are in High School. Great wrestling, just not appropriate language for them.
However, the Shimmer shows are PG. While I am not the only one with kids there (and we pledged to not miss a Berwyn weekend until volume 100, go Dave, go) but as I feel I am part of the community now (and the kids do too) I understand that there is going to be some language. The chants can be PG, just avoid the F bombs and inappropriate body parts, and still be fine. Not that you need my permission of course, but wanted to speak up. And I do appreciate MORE THAN I CAN SAY the respect for the all ages rule. Awesome. It's why it is a great community. I am only speaking for me so please don't think I am trying to speak for everyone.
Skater-Faces can be cocky. Melissa is, and she is way over. Orton is and he is way over. Davey Richards, Austin Aries. IMHO, Skater can keep that and still be a face.
Portia-She feeds off comments from the crowd. Many of us (I have I know) try and fail to get a reaction with statements (I am proud to say I did get a hand up and "No Pictures" on Volume 48 and our first weekend). Nicole does too. Portia (and Athena) are the size of the kids I bring, so it's hard not to see the comparison to a younger person. The Poutty face Portia makes it perfect for her character. As any who have read my Twitter, FB or posts on her, I believe them to be the best tag team in the world at what they do.
Saraya/Grandma-I'm 12 or 13 years older then Saraya and a grandpa. Just hard for me to picture her as a grandma because of her age. Again, she (and we) feed off of the comments made by the fans. Some can be annoying, some unfair (there were some changes about someone's weight in another match, I don't remember who, but we all agreed they were over the line FOR US) but it is part of the Shimmer event. Crowd interaction with the Athletes
Other comments.
Melanie Cruise-Wow she improved a TON from the last taping. Wow Wow Wow. In our opinion the most improved wrestler from the last weekend.
Angie Skye-Hope we see more of her. She was impressive.
Davina Rose-Gets better every match it seems like.
KC Spinelli-Another huge improvement from the last show.
Su Young-Hope we see more of her. Great energy in the ring. Same for Santana Garrett.
Made In Sin-Great heels and fun to watch. Again, hope we see more of them.
Last but not even remotely least, Rhia-Like I said in a earlier post, looking forward to her, Courtney, Davina and Skater (with Athena in one of the two biggies) carrying the company on their shoulders. She was just awesome this weekend.
Hamada vs Kana-Best match I have ever seen. Closely followed by Flair vs Windham in a 60 minute draw in the Omni (yeappers, dating myself), A Fabulous Ones match at Louisville, Daniels vs Edwards for the TV Title at Danny Davis Arena in Louisville, and Athena vs Merecedes last set.
Did anyone else see MsChif's chest. I asked her if Mercedes did that and she said yes. Mercedes looked over and mischievously smiled and said "I would never do that". Holy cow, that had to hurt.
Dave-I'll do a better job of keeping them seated next time. I apologize. I never moved.
Lee and Stew-Great to meet you and keep up the good work.
Tony-You are the man.
To the 8 young female athlete, one boyfriend and two male wrestlers who took the time to make my girls feel special. Thank you!!!!
Finally, I don't worry about the storylines. I just go along for the ride. It's why Cena is always over, and why Melissa will be for a long time. Just suspend belief, appreciate the athletes and go along for a fun ride that Dave takes us on!
Thanks for the ride and making us feel like part of the community.

^ I LOVE the fact you bring your girls to the shows. SHIMMER is a fantastic place to show kids that there are strong women who are just as good as men in what they do. There are several women that are also great role models personally (LuFisto is one of mine), and it's fantastic that you're willing to make the drive to give yours such a great experience. I love that SHIMMER is PG, so all ages can enjoy it. Glad you and yours have joined the SHIMMER fanbase!

First Saraya, now Leva. Who you going to go out of your way to personally irritate next? We're all eagerly waiting for your next trick. Or will you just go back to your usual standby of complaining about the DVD release schedule?

Is this from Leva? Where did she post it, if so? Great response she's absolutely right.

Yep, that's a direct quote from Leva from a comment thread on her Facebook fanpage. She had made a (really really out of the blue) post about how she's not interested in doing porn and I speculated that the person who apparently asked her if she did was actually the same guy who said the only reason she was in the Volume 50 main event and was moving up in SHIMMER was because she's Danger's buddy. That was her reaction.

I thought you might like to know that Athena mentioned your girls in an interview: slam.canoe.ca/Slam/Wrestling/2012/11/01/20324061.html

I know this isn't related to Volumes 49-52, but Miss Natural doesn't have an appreciation thread that I have seen.
After her showing in the past taping, I've been doing some research on her.....watching her matches and looking at her upcoming bookings. On her personal facebook, she has got upcoming bookings with April 13 & 14 listed at TBA. Maybe we will see her again?

I just watched that Melissa/Saraya match in question from Volume 48. How the hell can you say Sweet Saraya can't wrestle after that? Wrestling isn't all about flips and chain-wrestling reversals, it's about telling a story.
That match, absolutely was a story. I really hope the rematch from 52 does live up to what I just saw. Guess I'll just have to wait impatiently.

Kids were excited, moms smiled big. Very cool. April 13-14 here we come!!!1
