So many suplexes, so little time.

worth bumping for one-half of the new tag champs and apparently SHIMMER's resident queen of comic timing...

Courtney exploded from the reliable hand with good matches on the undercard to probably the funniest, most charismatic, possibly most adored star in the space of two days. That takes some doing.

I was a huge fan of Courtney before this weekend. I hope everyone is a fan of hers now. I mean you gotta have no heart not to love Courtney after Sunday.
I don't care WHAT Sara Del Rey tells everyone, deep down...she is happy.

The face/heel tag team is a first for Shimmer, and I feel they couldn't have picked two better wrestlers to team up. I am also very happy that Courtney has gotten her first taste of Shimmer gold and that Sara is a two time champ (one single, one tag reign).
My concern isn't with booking or with other teams being passed up, but with the hope that we get an actual tag reign. Sara has been very vocal about exploring career options that if fulfilled would not allow her to appear in Shimmer. If this happens before the next tapings then Courtney is left without a partner.
We have already had one tag title reign effectively cut short by a member leaving wrestling (Tomoka/Daizee). At least they were able to have a match to wrap up their reign before Daizee announced her hiatus. If Sara makes a career change that does not allow her to appear in Shimmer before the next tapings, what will happen to Courtney?
Will she be able to find another partner, attempt to defend the titles herself, or will there be a new gauntlet/tournament for the belts? Granted I may be worrying about a sitiation that may not happen, but Courtney has shown in her relatively brief time in Shimmer that she both gives and deserves the best.

If Sara does leave SHIMMER, I think it would be kind of ironic to have people come up to Courtney over the course of a couple of volumes asking to be her partner. It would be like a complete 180 from what she had to do.

Considering that she's been on EVERY volume, considering she was the FIRST SHIMMER Champion, I'd say it's 99% likely that there's an understanding between Sara and Dave, in that if Sara was retiring, she'd give advance notice to the point that either she wouldn't become champion, or she'd be able to drop the titles. Relax, and enjoy the ride.

One of the best things about the pairing of Sara and Courtney is that this may be the closest thing to one more babyface run for Sara. Albeit a reluctant one.

I hope the story goes that, over time, Courtney turns Sara full fledged face. So, one day we can say that SDR's heart grew 3 sizes!

I hope the story goes that, over time, Courtney turns Sara full fledged face. So, one day we can say that SDR's heart grew 3 sizes! Exactly! With a face/heel team, the stage is set for the kind of face turn that I've always wanted to see in Shimmer, one that I was only discussing just a few weeks ago in another thread. So far, the few face turns we've had to date in Shimmer have generally been through the "heel turns on another heel" method - With the exception of Kong, who's turn was born out of respect for 'Chif. But we haven't really had the 'do the right thing' turn, the heroic turn yet... But surely this is our best chance for that. Picture it. Over the first three shows at the next set of tapings, Del Rey continues to play the heel, to dislike Rush, to only help her if the tag-title's are at risk, that sorta thing. Then, after they've retained the title (or even if they don't) on volume 52, the opposing team are dishing out a post-match beating on Courtney and Del Rey starts to head to the back... But then she stops, turns (literally and figuratively!) and runs back to the ring to clean house and make the save. How's that for a slice of fried gold! There wouldn't be a dry eye in the house! ;D

as a long time Lucha fan I've always been a fan of parejas increibles. The face in peril gets saved by the partner who can counter the heels by being even more evil & devious. Plus when wrestling a babyface team, they have someone who can provide the heat. I'd even love to see Courtney constantly tempted by the dark side & an eventual heel turn ^.^

It reminds me of the Raven & Stevie Richards chemistry freshened up for 2012, and I <3 it sooo much.

Wasn't a huge fan of Courtney before, but Saturday won me over. Now I hear she's a champion. Great!

I understand that there was a Twitter exchange between the "Queens of Winning" or "Death Rush" prior to their first match against Re-X. Courtney's tweet said something to the effect of how awesome their team was going to be. Death Rey's all too classic response went a little something like this:
"Don't tweet me."
Classic.
Courtney Rush has very rapidly ascended to my second, almost tied for first, favorite current Shimmer roster member. She's comedic yet is fully capable of holding her own against anyone she's thrown into battle with. Almost like your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. I am sooooo glad she has pretty much cemented a place on the Shimmer roster. ;D
