Sorry for the repetition, but your friendly neighborhood Kalamityholic here pulling for her to retain against SDR on 7/7. An Oncoming Storm of beauty and badassery against the Queen of Wrestling, arguably the greatest of all time. Great match in the making with two of the best. And yes, Kalamity's gear is great too.

Got to see Kalamity vs Lufisto yesterday on Diva-Dirt (available this weekend only). Very, very emotional match. Even through all the intensity, determination, and violence of the match you could see the admiration and regard that both women held for each other. Truly a magnificent passing the torch moment, far more real (and with far more wrestling talent) than Hogan/Warrior at WM6.
When Lufisto pulled the belt away from the announcer after the match and put it around Kalamity herself, I almost started crying. All in all one of the greatest moments in wrestling history and a testament to the greatness of two of wrestling's best.

Get well soon Kalamity - she broke her left foot during training today. Hopefully doesn't take her too long to recover. Not much luck for the Quebec ladies lately...

I don't know if this is the right place to put this, but I was hoping someone here would be able to sell me on Kalamity:
I am, much to my own consternation, several Shimmer volumes behind. The last volume that I was able to watch was before Kalamity arrived in Shimmer, so I haven't seen any of her work in the promotion. I've only seen three of her matches: two against LuFisto (both in NCW, I believe), and the one linked to earlier in this thread, but I wasn't blown away the way that I was hoping I'd be, given how complimentary many here have been about her. Now, I consider myself a LuFisto fan, and I've enjoyed most of the matches I've seen her wrestle (well, not the hardcore matches, but I've never been into that), but those two didn't do anything for me.
Everything that I've seen and read about Kalamity would lead me to believe that she's a wrestler I would be a fan of, so I'm not sure where the disconnect is. Someone suggested to me that, if I like Cheerleader Melissa (and I do), that I would like Kalamity; I don't know whether that's an accurate assessment or not, but I'm not getting that, on any level. Is there something about the nature of the character that should inform how I look at her matches (I ask that because I don't speak French, so I've never heard and/or understood a promo which exists that might better explain what Kalamity is about)? Could there be something about the chemistry between her and LuFisto that just rubs me the wrong way? Could it be as simple as, how with many wrestlers, they change how they work depending on what territory they're working in, and I'm just not a fan of Montreal wrestling?
Or is it (in what I would consider a worst-case scenario) that the matches I've seen make up a reasonable sample of what to expect in a Kalamity match? I would consider that unfortunate, as there hasn't been a wrestler in Shimmer as well liked as Kalamity whom I just didn't "get" since Jetta.

LuFisto announced on her Facebook page that Kalamity will no longer be wrestling for the foreseeable future, and that she will not go into reasons publicly why this is the case, other than the fact Kalamity is not hurt or sick. I'm hoping this isn't permanent, and that Kalamity will eventually return to wrestling, but for right now, it's for the best that I wish her well in whatever she chooses to do.

I would consider that unfortunate, as there hasn't been a wrestler in Shimmer as well liked as Kalamity whom I just didn't "get" since Jetta. I'm not sure why Kalamity hasn't really clicked with you. I'll just say why I was a fan of her. Well first and foremost I think she's a brilliant worker. I enjoy her matches, but above all I love her look and personality. It's dark, mysterious (no first name, no surname, just 'Kalamity') and just pure baddass. She's one of the shortest wrestlers in the promotion, but when that music hits you just know someone's about to get their arse handed to them. And as for never hearing her speak, I haven't either and I wouldn't want to really as a silent Kalamity is just an even cooler one. Honestly I wish Melissa would remain silent as she just feels so awkward when she has the mic (oddly outside of that awesome "I'm sorry Sara, but my hands are tied." line which she absolutely nailed). She almost feels like a videogame boss character to me or a femme fatale in a Bond flick. Watch her Shimmer work and then see if you liked her more. As for Jetta, what's not to get? I may be biased for Jetta as she's English, and I always like seeing seeing British traits in wrestling confusing Americans like Britani saying 'England' "EN-GER-LAND" or in Jetta's case saying "Wa'er" or "Je'ah" rather than 'Water' and 'Jetta'. (I have a Canadian friend who came to England and couldn't understand why so many of us didn't pronounce our T's!) But I'll give you that if you're not British you might not pick-up on things like that. However I think most people loved her because she was a great heel. There are far too many people in wrestling either trying to be the baddass heel or even worse the "cool heel" that being an old-fashioned heel like Jetta is now something of a lost art. She was loud, brash, arrogant, petulant, childish, always cheated, told fans to shut up, or that they smelled, refused to wrestle, had no respect for her opponents, didn't slap hands of fans, the mere thought of slapping the fans hands disgusted her and while she was never anti-American, she was SOOOO pro-British that she might as well have been and she was brilliant. Also she converted Lacey into an honorary Brit and got her to wear an England football shirt which was awesome (and yes hot- girls in your team's football shirt is always hot). Was she a technical great like Haze or Knox? Well no, but then neither are Perez or Skater in my opinion, but all three are very good workers with bundles of personality. And personality goes a long way. Plus, this.
