Can people please stop taking every over the top thing ELPS or Frank, or anyone else, says about Joshi as gospel? Thanks. Kana is an excellent wrestler that is as good, if not better, than the other Joshi brought in, save Ayako of course.

She's a tremendous wrestler, but it's no secret a majority of her fans are of the pervy variety, just like with Kurihara. Joshi fans are generally considered pervs in Japan. Most all Joshi have admirers buying all their merch and bringing them gifts. This should sound strangely familiar to people on this board.

the majority of her appeal is her tits and ass Well, in that case, we don't need her in SHIMMER. Nah, she's a tremendous wrestler and quite hard working like any other wrestler holding down wrestling, training, a career and the rest of life whilst being hyped up on coffee. It's just that she's very curvaceous and it cannot be ignored so of course there are fans that vaguely notice her abilities/hardwork/dedication and hone in on her body. Stop confusing people, ELPS. She's hawt but she's a tough wrestler. Emphasis on the wrestler.

Because RVT isn't impossibly beautiful? And Melissa and MsChif aren't really sexy as well as being good workers in the ring. He didn't say she was a good worker. He said people get off on looking at her and that was her main appeal. If that's all she brought to the table, which is what the guy's statement implied, then I wouldn't want to see her in the company. If she's good in the ring as well, then by all means bring her in. Again. ELPS has confused you. She is not a Diva or eyecandy. She is pure wrestler, she just happens to be hawt. She's one of the better new gen joshi and can take any ass kicking as hard as the one she gives. She's an incredible joshi. Just because she looks beautiful does NOT mean she doesn't work hard or that she doesn't take a beating. ELPS can whip out some awfully bloody pics to show you she has paid her dues in full and come back swinging.

oh yeah I never meant to say she wasn't a tremendous wrestler. It's just that that's what Joshi these days is more geared towards, hence all the photobooks and such. I was more making a snarky comment alluding to that out of my frustrations about that even on joshifans EVERY OTHER POST in threads about Kana or Ayumi is like LOVE HER KICKS....AND WHAT A SWEET AZZ. LIke I mean, obviously she's hot, but could her wrestling stop being 50/50 with the hawtness comments and be more of a 75/25? I miss the schoolgirl audiences who bought everything the wrestlers did as shoot In short, she's a tremendous wrestler who did have a rough patch in the winter months but is back to being safe and totally belongs in Shimmer. She'd also bring in that BatiBati style which would be great to see in Shimmer, and I'd love to see her and Del Rey kick each other in the face and try to rip off each other's limbs.

I miss the schoolgirl crowd too. It was epic to see a packed gym full of girls really connecting with the wrestlers (as symbolic heroes; the way most little boys who watch wrestling do) and crying their eyes out because they were so emotionally invested. But those days were over in the late 80s. Now, you look at the crowd and suspect half is getting their jollies. That's just the way it is (it happens in all womens' sports.. .always a much bigger perv factor than mens' sports although there are guys who fetish every aspect of mens' sports. they just aren't as numerous). There have always been photobooks, tho. But I see what you're saying, it's more overt, now. C'est l'vie.
joshifans board slowly became as cesspool of the you-know-what kind. Now, it's kind of like WWE Divas thread elsewhere "is this new chick hot?" "do women with muscles gross you out?" "man, eve is hot" etc., "natalya has a great rack" so on and so on.

Hey now don't just get on guys for this. From what I've heard, Dragon Gate audiences are mostly pervy housewives.

Re: Dragon Gate's target audience: try telling that to the fanboys outside of Japan. The wrestling never takes a backseat to the perv appeal. And it's not like ALL of mens' wrestling is compromised by it. I still look at certain folks as heroes and get emotionally invested to the point of tears... Wait: did I just compare myself to a schoolgirl?? Oh well I was just referring to the phenomena of an arena full of (mostly) female wrestling fans.. .which is something I'd never even seen (or heard of) before. They certainly did something amazing back then. School girl riots, girl riots ftw There used to be a site called Womens' Pro Wrestling Illustrated. It was a world view of womens' wrestling; it covered everything from the WWF, WCW, joshi, Mexico and it was the first place I ever heard of Amy Action and the Australian women of wrestling. This was back in 1999 so Amy was pretty much a lone warrior. Every month they'd have a new feature from the old days; the 50s and 60s, about girl riots and pandemonium in womens' wrestling. I wish I'd saved more of that site; some of the pictures of arena wreckage (and arrests) were amazing in their black and white glory. When I see Melissa cause discord I think of those old pictures. Does anyone else remember that site?

Oh man, I remember matches where Dump had to enter the arenas with the police surrounding her so she didn't get attacked.
Hell recently, this little girl tried to attack KAORU at an Oz Academy show, but the dude she was with had to pull her away. I died so hard from that. And to be fair, KAORU more than had it coming after laughing her ass off at Kansai getting her head shaved.

Re: Dragon Gate's target audience: try telling that to the fanboys outside of Japan. The wrestling never takes a backseat to the perv appeal. And it's not like ALL of mens' wrestling is compromised by it. Even at non-DG shows there is a heavy fangirl element for the younger guys, not unlike what you see for Tyler Black here. I don't know if that's considered more acceptable than Joshi fanboyism, but even Jun Kasai gets love.

Yeah Fujita Jr. Hayato even got that at M-Pro before he went heel.
I don't mind the thinking they're attractive and stuff...but it's just like...at a certain point it becomes too much. I mean...as much as a nude photobook of Danielson, Claudio, Jigsaw, and Quack would rock...not even 50% of me would rather have that than their AWESOME tag match from Chikara last year.

The 3 girls at AAW who pulled their pants down to show off underwear that had the names of Tyler Black, Jimmy Jacobs, and Shane Hollister written on them can attest to that.
