It's good to be back in Chicago.
This has been a very hectic past few weeks, between doing final promotion for the SHIMMER events during the first week of April, heading to Denver to work on eight weeks of the ROH television show for HDNet, getting back to Chicago just a few hours before the arrival of half of the crew, including our guests from Japan, running the two days of tapings in Berwyn, getting everyone on their flights home, and then heading straight to Tampa to begin production on these DVDs.
All of the stress and aggrivation involved was definitely worth it. Portia Perez, Kellie Skater and I, along with our editor David Puente, just finished a week worth of work in the studio beginning post-production, and I can say, without question, that these are the best shows I've ever produced over my 14 years in the wrestling business. Or at least they're the shows I'm most proud of.
Portia and Kellie did an excellent job in the studio this week, and we're going to do our best to have the first two DVDs from this past weekend's tapings released in record time (for us, anyway, hehe).
I've never been happier with our talent roster from top to bottom than I am right now. I'm more anxious than ever to get these DVDs finished and move forward with our next set of tapings. All of our veteran talents delivered big time this past weekend, be it during matches against the joshi stars, or working with the newer SHIMMER mainstays. So many of the young girls took their game to the next level. I don't want to name names for fear of leaving too many people out, but everything just clicked this past weekend, and it translates beautifully to video. Our upgraded camera equipment, in addition to now using four cameras to shoot the DVDs, shall result in what I feel will be our best DVD releases to date.
A huge thank you goes out to all of the SHIMMER staff, as well as Mr. Suzuki from S-Ovation and Mr. Izui from Ringstars for their assistance in putting together such a special set of shows for our fan base. The addition of the joshi talents to the SHIMMER roster created some very exciting, fresh match pairings that now set the stage for a very intriguing remainder of 2010 for us as a company. The joshi talent were a joy to work with, and I can't wait to have them back.
The joshi contingent spent time this week training with Daizee Haze at the SHIMMER/ROH Wrestling Academy at the Ring of Honor facility in Bristol, PA. We look forward to a continued relationship that will greatly benefit women's wrestling fans around the world.
Anyone on the east coast who may not have had a chance to be at SHIMMER, or even if you were at SHIMMER and are located within driving distance, you owe it to yourself to get to the Jersey All Pro Wrestling event on Saturday night in Jersey City, NJ to see Ayumi Kurihara, Hiroyo Matsumoto, Tomoka Nakagawa, and Misaki Ohata live before they head back to Japan on Sunday. They all came through in a huge way in Berwyn, and I'm sure they will do the same for JAPW this weekend. As tremendous as Ayumi vs. Sara was at SHIMMER, I'm sure their rematch on Saturday for Sara's JAPW title will in many ways be even better, since they are now more familiar with one another inside the ring.
I'll be at the Eagles Club for AAW on Saturday night, as will MsChif, who will be part of an intergender tag team battle as part of the show. Come and say hello if you're in the area.
I'll close this with some photo previews from our staff photogapher Gilda Pasquil from this past weekend. Thanks again to everyone who bought a ticket to the shows... none of this would be possible without your support!
