Ok, I went back about 12 pages and didn't see one thread devoted to Madison, so I decided to make one. Whether you love or hate our new Shimmer Champion, talk about her here.
I want to start this off with the subject of possible future title defenses for Madison. While I know everyone is waiting for Melissa, There's potential for many great matches for her. For me, keeping in mind about the drama that was present in so many matches this past weekend, I feel a match with her former partner Jessie is inevitable.
The Pink Ladies came in and showed their great skills as a tag team, but Madison was the one that stood out. When Madison had to go out for a while, Jessie stepped up and showed what she was made of and became "everybody's favorite girlfriend". Now Madison returned and became Shimmer Champion and gained a huge ego to boot. Madison's change in attitude has to bother her former partner and protege, and perhaps Jessie's rise to fame while Madison was out contributes to Madison's current feelings also. I'd love to see this play out and it would be a phenomenal match as well.

from 411’s Buy or Sell 04.16.10 With Madison Eagles' SHIMMER Title win, she has become the Sheamus of the independent wrestling scene.
Chris Lansdell: BUY. Well, the indey WOMEN'S scene anyway. Once I discovered that Madison Eagles was not the name of a proposed new NBDL team in Wisconsin's state capital, I did some googling. It's OK to do that in private, but googling in public is frowned upon, especially if one googles oneself. Anyway, chick can go. Much like Sheamus she has plenty of talent, and strapping a rocket to her back by putting her over a dominant champion like MsChif (who, by the way, needed to drop in order to freshen things up) is a good way to go. Little surprises like these help keep us interested. If Cheerleader Melissa or Kong had won the title, it would have been expected and thus would have lost some luster. Daffney would have been fresh too, but Eagles is like Old Spice deodorant: freshershest. Funny how I haven't seen many people complaining about this change, but everyone and their dog hated the Sheamus change. Double standard much?
Bayani Domingo : BUY. Of sorts I guess. I mean, Sheamus had like 6 months between debuting and then becoming a champion and Madison had like 6 weeks. Okay, maybe an exaggeration, but the gal had a losing streak against two of the top women in Shimmer, then all of a sudden she takes out Cheerleader Melissa and then upsets MsChif. What…the hell?? I guess they aren't into "slow builds" in SHIMMER are they? If we are splitting hairs then it seems like Madison Eagles had less traction leading up to her victory, at least Sheamus got to go through some curtain jerkers and a mid-carder in Goldust, Noble, and Shelton and he won all of those feuds. Madison went from straight losses over main event level wrestlers to straight wins over the top tier and a title win. To be honest, I can't remember anyone going straight to the top this quickly in recent history. If I had to really compare this to any other quick slingshot championship run it would possibly Xavier when he first got to RoH. And just totally off topic here...does Madison actually have a submission move called the "Spread Eagles" by any chance? Just wondering...
I kind of get where they are coming from, but come on, she is better then Sheamus.

I'm just going to repost with the added comment, it's one thing to watch the WWE it's another thing to be mentally incapable of thinking outside it's box. That's defined by viewing a surprise title change through the lens of something WWE did months ago with some dude whose matches I can't be bothered to watch at 2x speed:
Aside from the Australian Amazon being twice as talented, twice as charismatic, twice as worthy, and the change being done twice as properly it's a perfect analogy.
Though, to make an actual wrestling comparison, this is more like when another A-Double, Austin Aries, dethroned Samoa Joe. Joe was as dominant a champ MsChif and, simarly, after 2 years the belt was beginning to grow heavy. People felt like his time was soon coming to an end, and most had their favorites out of mainstays like Punk, Dragon, Cide, and Ki to take it from him.
While everyone knew Austin Aries had everything it took to be an ROH champion, it didn't seem as likely that he'd become the champ in that moment. ROH seized the opportunity to do the expected and it paid off handsomely. Fans got to see a completely different sort of title reign, one which kept all the top stars as strong as ever and helped build new ones that believably took Aries to the limit in ways that might not have otherwise worked. You never knew how long Aries was going to have the title. 5 months, 5 defenses, 5 days? Who didn't think Spanky had him beat when he hit that Sliced Bread #2? Who didn't think Colt was walking away with it when he was climbing down that cage in Chicago?
I'm thinking we're going to get a lot of those same moments with Madison. I think her reign is going to be extremely intriguing and that by the time this plays out the reaction for when she loses the title will match, if not exceed, the reaction when she won it.

I felt when Madison Eagles was mentioned in Lance Storm's blog that she was paid the highest of compliments because he's a guy who doesn't B.S. about what he likes.
I think she's the perfect person to have won the title from MsChif not only because we know she's awesome in the ring, but also, we haven't seen her face too many people in SHIMMER, so her title defenses will be fresh match-ups.

" To be honest, I can't remember anyone going straight to the top this quickly in recent history " Jack Swagger? ring a bell? Madison Eagles has been in professional wrestling since 2001. On the Bryan Alvarez show it was mentioned by Sara Del Rey that at one time Madison was even thinking of wrestling in the Olympics. Her singles rise in SHIMMER has been quick but she's certainly not comparable to these WWE developmental guys. Realistically though, any newcomer should be considered more dangerous than someone who can be studied on video by their opponents to prepare for what they may do.

I would fully support a board moratorium on all WWE and TNA talk for at least the month after a SHIMMER taping. F those guys in their As, let's talk about how awesome Madison is!
Has anyone posted a picture of her soaring eagle pose? Because that's pretty hot. 8 Vposes at least.

I wonder if Bayani Domingo watched Madison Eagles' matches with Sara Del Rey and Mercedes Martinez. His write up comes off as if all he did was read the results and seen that she lost against those two. Though she lost those matches, she still came out looking like someone who could be a serious threat regardless of who she faces. She was that damn good. If he'd seen her matches he would known there was a reason Madison was put against among the best in SHIMMER right off the bat. She didn't need to prove her way by trouncing mid level wrestlers like Sheamus had to. She didn't need a "slow build". The build up was already there.
In WWE you must be built up to some extent. Most of their fans have absolutely no knowledge of what new wrestlers are capable of inside the ring simply because they haven't wrestled inside of a WWE Ring.

This was posted in an older thread but I figured I'd put it back up here in Madison's thread. From PWA Australia's YouTube channel:

In that Diva-Dirt interview, Madison made it clear it's an IF Melissa gets a title shot at the next tapings. That interests me because she also didn't grant anyone a shot on Volume 32. Will she be a coward champ that won't let people have title shots until she's forced to? Will we have a feud where Melissa has to keep jumping through hoops to finally get that long drawn out title shot?
We also have two women who've beaten Madison in singles competition in Shimmer, Mercedes and Sara. Can you say dream #1 contender's match?
Then there's Kurihara wanting a title shot. You know, that'd be awesome if Eagles could tour Japan this summer. There's that Nu-ARSION type promotion coming out that's basically Ring Stars and S-Ovation merged. She could defend it there.
While I won't lie, my main focus is on Melissa getting the title, I'm psyched for what lies ahead in Madison's reign.
