To those of you on the board who are skilled at designing web site graphics or web sites in general, do any of you have any concepts, ideas, etc. as far as a fresh SHIMMER site goes? We're open to ideas. E-mail us at shimmernews@yahoo.com if you'd like to volunteer to help reshape the new site.

There is also Platinum Designs done by Candace Brown who runs www.beth-xxx.org (Beth Phoenix fansite), www.the-bombshell.org (Jillian Hall/Macaela Mercedes fansite), http://www.melina-flare.net(Melina Perez/Kyra fansite) and classy-diva.net/valerie (So Cal Val fansite). She's experienced with web design and I think she can do wonders with the site. Your choice though.

I wouldnt go with Candace as I have heard from past customers of her that she has screwed some people out of layouts or just done a half handed job to them with the people not getting their money's worth.

We're open to ideas. E-mail us at shimmernews@yahoo.com if you'd like to volunteer to help reshape the new site. I would like more extensive profiles of the SHIMMER wrestlers. Give us a sense of who they are as people. I realize not everyone may want to share personal info but to the extent that they feel comfortable doing so. I'd like to know what their wrestling background is, why they're interested in the sport, what their most memorable matches were, what their favourite holds are, what else they do in life, etc. Maybe include more photos in and out of the ring. It would also be fun to use the web-site for promos and to develop storylines. Host little videoclips of the women calling each other out, etc. In general web-sites that use a lot of photos and videos are best. Text should be short and pithy. Oh and bring in Kayla Sparks, Melissa Stripes, Alicia and Alexa Thatcher. They have great potential from what I've seen so far.

I use PHP-Nuke as a content manager for Tiana's site. Its comes with most of the features built in you just tweak them in the administration. You simply turn on the ones you want and turn off the ones you don't. Additional features specific to the needs of your site can also be installed. For Tiana's site, I installed a Gallery, a Calendar and a different module for Polls. All integrated pretty easily but I did need to tweak some of the code and just following the instructions for installs requires a certain comfort level. Effectively running the site requires a working knowledge of MySQL, PHP and HTML. You don't need to know how to code from scratch, but you should be prepared to edit PHP using a text editor like Vim. You should be comfortable viewing and modifying SQL tables with something like PHPMyAdmin. HTML knowledge is minimal. Just the basic text and image tags really. I've also heard good things about PostNuke but haven't tried it myself.

I'm gonna agree with the general consenus here. There should be a photos section on the website. Not necessarily hosted by the website, maybe a site that's linked in to this one, but definitely something where you can see photos of some of the matches.
I also think a roster page where you have the wrestlers' bio posted would be a good idea. Like, getting to know more about the girls of Shimmer? Something like that?

There's links to action photos at the top of this message board.

I'd like to see on-line profiles, and pictures (under each profile) of the wrestlers. A short bio, some personal likes and dislikes. Things along those lines.

Oh, and while I'm thinking of it... how about a Tour Dates/Shows page with just the up coming show listings and DVD tapings, rather than having to go looking for it in the forums.

Hey DAVE ~ I put together this "profile" screen I made. The idea is that it would be in flash or shockwave. If you want me to do the site, I'd be happy to. Anyways, here's the screen. the information section would be scrollable hence the arrows as would the bottom navigation. With the bottom, using the left or right arrows would move the list of names, and clicking would whiten the name in question, and fade the others. Information, the name and image would change once a name is clicked. Everything else would stay the same with the only scrollable items being the info and the name links at the bottom. I have other ideas for other pages and how those would look, but I wanted to do something with the profiles as I thought the original page with just a small picture and a name was prety boring. And this way people who are new to SHIMMER can get more info on the wrestlers rather than just a name and face.

^^^ Looks good, maybe a win-loss-draw record could be added as well?
