ROH released a Straight Shooting Series today with Allison Danger, Lacey and Daizee Haze called Straight Shootin' with The Women of Honor. It includes Lacey Vs. Sumie Sakai from ROH Do or Die V, and two SHIMMER Showcase matches, Lacey & Tiana Ringer Vs. Allison Danger & Shantelle Taylor from 3/30, and Lacey/Rain/Melissa Vs. Allison/MsChif/Haze from 4/1. I wish Lacey/Danger from 11/19 had been on there, as we'll probably never get to see that SHIMMER showcase now (unless its a bonus on a future SHIMMER release {hint, hint}) but this looks like something I'll definitely be picking up soon. Here's the preview: Straight Shootin' With The Women Of Honor is a unique shoot interview that comes from a different perspective. Allison Danger, Daizee Haze and Lacey sat down together to talk about their entire careers and what life is like for a woman on the independent scene. These three were an open book in discussing everything from ROH to SHIMMER to their thoughts on WWE's divas and T&A promotions.
Lacey, Haze and Danger talk about their starts in the wrestling business. Lacey discusses being fired by IWA Mid South, her start in ROH as part of Special K and her evolution in Lacey's Angels. Lacey even talks about what happened when a promoter wanted her to use a X rated object in a match. Daizee Haze goes into detail on traveling to Mexico, working for TNA and joining The Embassy among many other subjects. Allison Danger holds nothing back when talking about being on the first segment ever in ROH, going to Japan, working with Christopher Daniels in The Prophecy, TNA as well as much more.
These three also share stories from the road and their thoughts on various subjects that concern women in wrestling. What are their thoughts on WWE's version of women's wrestling? What do they think of the various T&A promotions? Do they think SHIMMER can make an impact?
From Alexis Laree (now Mickie James in WWE) to Jimmy Jacobs' "Ballad Of Lacey" to their experiences up and down the indy circuit, Straight Shootin' With The Women Of Honor goes into great detail to give you a different perspective on the wrestling business. This is one shoot that every fan will enjoy!!!

The Lacey vs. Allison Danger preshow match from 11/19 in Long Island may be used in the future-- that is undetermined, but it was only about 8 minutes long. At this time the gameplan is for this ROH Women of Honor Straight Shootin' Series DVD to be the only release that features the 3/30 and 4/1 SHIMMER tag matches from ROH, but things could change. We encourage you to get this DVD if you'd like to have those matches in your collection. ClickWrestle.com will also feature the 4/1 six woman tag match for pay-per-download online viewing in the future. Fans of the ROH Straight Shootin' Series should definitely pick this one up, as it's unlike any other shoot interview they've done in the past. The only ones it can even really compare to are the two person interviews with Samoa Joe & CM Punk or Colt Cabana & CM Punk, where it's multiple wrestlers who have built their careers as independent stars talking amongst one another about their experiences on the road and life as an indie wrestler. None of the three hold back in the interview with their opinions on the current state of pro wrestling. The actual interview portion of the DVD is almost 2 1/2 hours long, plus the bonus matches which brings it to 3 hours of total footage. I join "Bullshizzle". This is the first shoot that I have ever purchased. It doesn't hurt to have three of Lacey's matches in it, plus Cheerleader Melissa & Rain in it as well.

Disappointingly, this wasn't for sale at the merch table at the UK ROH events this past weekend - or I'd have bought it there and then. In fact, there were no SHIMMER DVDs for sale at all.
I guess that just means I'll have to buy it from the online shop instead.

I've purchased a slew of straight shooting DVDs from ROH during one of their $10 sales, but the Women of Honor is by far the most entertaining and enlightening I've seen. A group of three wrestlers is unique in comparison to most other ROH Straight Shooting DVDs and allows for some great interaction as well as more reliable recall of past events.
Due to content and language, probably not the most appropriate DVD for younger fans of Shimmer. Otherwise, I can't recommend this great DVD nearly enough for fans of Shimmer.

I watched this last night. It was absolutely fantastic. I loved every second of it. I've a question. Is there any reason SHIMMER can't start producing their own shoot interviews? I mean, all it takes is for someone (presumably you, Dave) to sit down with one of the talents and ask a bunch of questions. Coincide the shoots with the SHIMMER tapings, and the girls are right there. Even if they're not million sellers, the production costs would presumably be very low, so making a profit should (in theory) be quite easy. It's another revenue stream for the promotion, and it gives the fans more of a chance to get to know the performers. You can even take a page out of ROH's book and interview them in pairs or threes. I'd love to see a shoot with (for example) Cheerleader Melissa & Sara Del Rey - talking about training on the West Coast and their international experience, along with personal/road stories and the like. Or what about a K-Nox shoot (one that would be better than the www.ringdivas.com one), or one with The Experience? Or MsChif?

In general, I'm opposed to the idea of doing shoot interviews with people who haven't been on national television, and are under the age of, say, 45. Shoot interviews should be for people who already have full careers to discuss. The ROH Straight Shootin' with the Women of Honor was different than your typical shoot interview because it was more of a discussion between the three than just one person being interviewed.
We've had some things in the works (some has already been filmed) as additional material from SHIMMER for the future, aside from each Volume of the DVD series. It'll be different than what else is out there, and you should be pleased with the results once we're ready to put it out, especially if you're eager for interview type material. I don't want to give too much away concerning its content yet, but this is what we've been referring to internally for the past few months as our "Volume Zero" project. It won't be completed until likely early next year, if even that soon... but it's on our agenda.

Sounds interesting, Dave.
You're probably right about shoots being best kept for people who have a fuller career to discuss... I'd just like to hear more about some of the people I like to watch, that's all. The girls had me genuinely laughing out loud last night with some of the stuff they discussed (Daizee's comment about Sonny Siaki is the funniest thing I've heard in weeks, for example) and I could have happily watched another 2 1/2 hours of it.
From the sounds of it, this new project will be worth waiting for... and any new products from SHIMMER HQ are greatly appreciated.

Volume Zero, now you've got me intrigued, I'm presuming it'll be kind of a "How Shimmer Came to Be" video, which I personally would love to see. I can barely imagine all the work you all did to get the promotion to come together as seemlessly as you have. That and my interest in the actual business side of wrestling has been growing as of late and and any thing that helps me satiate my curiosity is more than welcome.

Please, DP, I never thought I'd be saying this, but stop making all these great DVDs!!! I don't have the cash to keep up with RoH, SHIMMER, puroresu, AND shoot interviews! I'm a college kid for pete's sake!
