Sorry, just started reading the thread (fantastic work, btw!) this needs to be a CD set. Maybe one of these days, someone will do that It could be called Greatest Hits: POW! Probably cost a fortune... but I'd get one, with holographic covers.

Now That's What I Call Wrestling Themes!!

Going on from what I dribbled in the crowd interaction thread . .
I'd say that exact same sentence in regards to Rebecca Knox too. I also love Cindy Rogers Joan Jett theme. Her gritty voice was the perfect soundtrack for Rogers falling by the wrong side of the tracks (the leather jacket was the icing on the cake). Obviously Portia's song is equally as gritty and even more amazing. Uber heel ****.
And blimey . . I've just found out that Saraya's theme is Linkin Park!? I've been marking out to Linkin bloody Park? I feel dirty! It's amazing how such a force in personality can make even shite music sound edgy, dangerous, scary and everything that Linkin Park isn't. As soon as them eerie synths fade in the crowd goes "ooohhh" and your blood curls because . . . TROUBLE.
I'm guessing the wrestlers chose their own themes? They all fit so well,.

Funny you mention the Saraya thing especially. She's been using that for years, and to me the song and her are absolutely synonymous in my head. I remember mentioning on this board when Saraya was first announced as coming to SHIMMER a few years ago that she'd *better* have 'Faint' as her entrance music. Someone - can't remember who - was appalled at the idea of Linkin Park ever being played at SHIMMER... but it's pretty clear by now that it's the *perfect* theme for her. Your original point stands though - LP are not a band I would normally listen to, but I totally love that track for what it represents to me now.
As far as who chooses their theme music, it's pretty usual that the wrestler just uses what they use elsewhere - but there are examples of people being "given" themes too, especially in the early days. Somewhere in the back of my head there's an anecdote I heard that the first two women in the first ever SHIMMER match - Shantelle Taylor and Tiana Ringer - ended up coming out to each other's music in a mix up, and they ended up having to stick with them.
Rebecca Knox was given "Shadows of the Night", I'm pretty sure, because she never used that anywhere else (she used to use MC Hammer's "Can't Touch This" in other places). Nicole Matthews was given "Toxic", but ended up switching to "Hysteria" (which she uses elsewhere). Similar story with Kellie Skater, I believe - she eventually used the "Explosive" theme she used everywhere else in SHIMMER after using "Don't Stop At The Top" for a while.

Matthews and Skater both chose all of the songs they've used so far themselves. Probably more than 95% of the time, the wrestlers have selected their own music (the main ones that come to mind who I "saddled" with songs they didn't pick are Portia, Knox, and Serena). The main rule we try to stick to is that once a song is chosen, they commit to using it for an extended period of time. So much of what makes entrance music effective is when the audience is conditioned to know who is about to come through the curtain when they hear the first few notes of a song. If a wrestler decides they want to change their music every 4 or 5 shows, none of the songs ever "work" in that respect.

But, by that token, you didn't give 3G a real chance with their news theme, and dropped it after 2 shows. Shouldn't it have been given a chance for at least a couple more shows?

No. It became evident that they weren't getting the desired reaction during entrances due to using unfamiliar music. That was the most important weekend thus far for 3G, with them main eventing the weekend. Those circumstances made it absolutely not the right time to experiment with new music which the crowd wasn't used to. Skater's music got a reaction.

YES!"

So I know two new songs this weekend purely from everybody marking out over them on Twitter...
Nikki Storm - "Larger Than Life" by the Backstreet Boys
She's used that on a load of British shows too. And...
Made in Sin - "All That Theme Song" by TLC
Anything else new?

This All That had a slight remix to it, which I couldn't exactly find anywhere.

Su Yung had a different theme song, but I don't know what it was. Havok had a different one Saturday as well.

Havok used a different song Saturday? It sounded like the same one she used before all weekend to me.

She had that one that had a few seconds of The Walking Dead opening theme and the lyrics were something like "King (or Queen) of the world."
