Really happy for Matthews. I feel like we are entering the next generation of Shimmer now and we will now see Matthews, Athena, Skater, Evie, KLR, Storm, Yim and Shida be the big stars from here on out.
Matthews is the first person to win 3 championships in Shimmer, the 2nd person to win both of the two championships and the first Canadian to win the Shimmer championship. Plus with her proving she can handle a kendo stick and now using fireballs she's proved she really is a ninja!
The matches for tonight look amazing.

I'm just waking up for Day 2 of SHIMMER. Yesterday was such a long delay with technical issues that I'm still exhausted, so I'm hoping today will go off without a hitch. Here are my thoughts on yesterday.
All of debuts were good. Nicole Savoy is a promising young talent that works so well against Heidi. Please, Dave, please bring her back! Akino was my other favorite debut. She has "it", a great look, a great attitude, and skills to match anyone. After the V67 main event, I wanted to see Yim/Akino....so um happy we are getting it today.
I thought some of the undercard really stepped up. Evie looked incredible. Heidi showed she can take a beating and keep going. Nikki continued to show why she truly is the best in the galaxy! Mia Yim was her usual top notch self.
V67 top matches:Evie vs Kay Lee Ray; Akino, Fujimoto, Yoneyama vs Kellie Skater, Tomoka Nakagawa, Mia Yim V68 top matches: 3G defends vs Fujimoto and Yoneyama; Heidi Lovelace vs Akino

How great was it to see that place packed yesterday? That was awesome.
Yeserday's delays were pretty taxing on the crowd, but yay for long intermission! Woo!
Personally speaking, I thought yesterday was very strong. I was having an absolute blast. Lots of huge developments that left me wanting to come back and see what happens today. Very well done by everyone, even with the awful technical difficulties. This is why we all keep coming back!
Heidi was a big stand out for me. She won me over huge this weekend, especially dealing with a really hostile AAW crowd on Friday.
Nikki Storm is fantastic. There are no other words I can think of.
Am I the only one reeeeeeeally looking forward to Havok finally getting her hands on Portia? Ho-ly crap. When she flipped out and started throwing the steps screaming "PORTIA! I'M GOING TO KILL YOU!"....good god is she intimidating! So glad we got to have her come in, given her status with TNA now.
Ok. Enough rambling. Time to get ready for another day. See you fine folks in Berwyn!

Damn I wish I was there. These tapings sound incredible.
The way the storylines seemed to unfold over the weekend is especially appealing to me. You had Havok gunning for Perez all weekend, the title match at Vol 68 which furthered the year long Matthews/Eagles storyline and kicked off the Athena/Melissa one. Courtney Rush was still annoyed at Veda Scott. The Lufisto/Saraya storyline from April continued bringing Rhia, Ozaki and Kana into the mix, while Kana still had unfinished buisness with Melissa. Yoneyama and Fujimoto beating 3G in the 6 man tag and earning themselves a title match on the next volume. Evie's winning streak leading to her getting a title shot. The Kimber Bombs trying to get another shot at 3G. Nikki Storm's letter. Even Miss Natural and Xander Bale got a little story! Almost the whole roster were connected with these interlocking storylines.
Really excellently well booked. I look forwards to catching these on DVD and if my trip to Australia next year doesn't go ahead I am going to be going to Chicago for the 10 year celebration shows!

I always thought Eagles would eventually get burned by Matthews, only not so literally...

Too tired to elaborate right now, but this weekend was right up there with 45-48 for me. Perfect ending for the final match.

I found the ending for the final match to be emotionally satisfying - but what I couldn't figure out was how a 4-way tag-team match, consisting of 4 separate 2-person teams, ends with 1 4-person team being declared the winner. There were a few logical gaps for me in Volume 70 - like why was the team of Heidi, Solo Darling and Leva Bates AND their manager AND the referee acting like it was a regular-rules match while the opposing team was acting - quite correctly - like it was a no-DQ match, which it actually was. And why did Thunderkitty threw such marshmallow head-shots at Veda Scott, who has had quite intense matches this past year? Veda clearly wasn't on the same page, leading to Thunderkitty's quick well-deserved loss.
Oh, well. In case I give the impression that I was less than satisfied with the weekend's shows, I will say that I was most certainly NOT disappointed.
The 6-woman tag in Volume 67, featuring the debuting Joshis alone made the trip worthwhile, it was such a complete joy-fest. The events leading up to the title change, and the way that Nicole Matthews made clear that she is not eccentric, but truly evil, was really well done. Eagles was phenomenal all weekend. Kay Lee Ray was stunningly good all weekend. Lufisto's match with Nicole Savoy was beautiful - a great, super-generous veteran giving a newbie a chance to shine and the newbie stepping up gloriously. Gorgeous stuff! Akino - wow! Havok came back ready to make an impression and was a blast to see. And so much more.

Wasn't the tag match 4 vs 4 rather than 2 vs 2 vs 2 vs 2?

When is Tomoka retiring? I was expecting for she and Skater to drop the tag straps for that reason.

Wasn't the tag match 4 vs 4 rather than 2 vs 2 vs 2 vs 2? Correct. It was never ever announced as a 4-way, it was clearly announced as an 8-woman 4 vs. 4 No DQ tag.

Did anyone get a pic of Havok diving through the ropes? I was too concerned about not dying to get a decent shot.
