Still the building's fault if anything. The show has been promoted for months, maybe they were tardy in trying to get their licence.

Yep. And if the venue didn't have it when they agreed to host the event, presumably Eve could take some kind of legal action against 'em, given the potential financial impact this could (but hopefully won't!!) have on Eve's business.

Great news. I was hoping Ricky and Saraya Knight's connections from decades of promoting in and around Norwich paid off. I just the under-18 girls can still compete on the show with this being a nightclub.

Thank flip for that, the Eve booker has enough problems with talent not being able to make it or pulling out at pretty much every show; I can't imagine how you'd rebook a double-header weekender by cutting it in half.

Basically throughout the day we've been given TWO different reasons for the cancellation and Ricky Knight was given an additional DIFFERENT reason (as he also ran this venue). The first reason has already been stated (and was of course all we knew when Emily announced on twitter). Thankfully 2 of my best mates are the main management of Project Nightclub in Norwich (and were also the managers of The Hippodrome in Colchester, Essex which to those who know anything about me will know is where I promoted a show featuring Bret Hart, Billy Kidman, Takeshi Morishima, Mohammed Yone, Doug Williams etc and then later on they became the management of Liquid Nightclub in Gloucester which is where I then promoted ChickFight 8. So as Jon (venue manager) knew my events were safe and ALWAYS top quality when I called him up and explained what had happened he offered us his venue however there were still some things to overcome before knowing for sure we could accept the venue (while this was going on I was also making calls elsewhere so I had back-ups in case this fell through).
When I got the call from the venue cancelling the show I was about 4miles outside the city where the original venue is located as had spent the day doing additional last minute door to door flyering for the show (4 hours wasted there today). After a while of trying to change venues mind I called my mates at Project up who informed me they already had an event booked in for Friday night but would see what they could do. They then called back to offer a different room at the club but we needed to work out the logistics as the room is a lot smaller and more narrow so we had to be sure we could fit the ring in. Another problem we had yet to face is seating as the venue isn't equipped with sufficient seating.
So after the VERY long walk to the club (made even longer by the fact that I had absolutely no f'n clue how to get there as just kept going from street to street when flyering and therefore relied solely on my spidey senses to take me to the club - which it turns out were a little rusty) I finally got to the venue to talk business and see if we could make this possible. Working out the logistics took a number of hours as we also had to call up our stage crew and try to work out details with them while sorting out documentation on both sides etc etc then we had to find all the chairs in the building (BIG BUILDING!) and do a count to see how many we had and then see if we could get some chairs to the venue for Friday and many other boring but incredibly necessary and time consuming jobs. In fact we're still sorting out a number of things now and have been talking to them while writing this (multi-tasking but if this jumps around a bit and doesn't make sense now you know why - lot going on!)..
The crux of it is - we have a great lighting rig provided by the venue meaning lighting won't be an issue and the shows will still look great on DVD even though for Norwich we don't have the room for the video screens and entranceway etc (though they will be at Sudbury). We have chairs now too which is always an understated bonus.... HOWEVER we DO have to start an hour earlier than advertised in order to finish and get the ring out before the club opens it's main doors for...ya know....clubbers clubbing.
The good news is Project is where we were all heading to for the aftershow party anyway so those going don't have to leave one venue, travel a couple miles back into the city and que up to get in the club as we will obviously already be there!
BTW this is very much the digest version of todays events. Suffice to say I'm very tired and not at all happy with the amount of grey hair I have at the ripe old age of 28.
I think this reply makes sense. If it doesn't I can assure you I've used all the right words just perhaps not in the right order. So there's a challenge for you to figure it out. Good luck and seriously thank you to everyone for their support today. It's meant a lot. Today EVE has been an acronym for Everyone's Very Emotional. I have also called many people c*nts. Oh and was chucked out of tesco (supermarket) due to major rant on phone. Came home to find my cooker broken.
Goodbye Monday - you were a c*nt. Tuesday - please be kind or I will murder you in the face.

www.evewrestling.com/news/2011/04/05/important-change-of-venue-for-friday-april-8-norwich-event-IMPORTANT - CHANGE OF VENUE FOR FRIDAY APRIL 8 NORWICH EVENT!Published Tuesday, 5th April 2011 by News DeskAt 2.54pm on Monday April 4th Pro-Wrestling:EVE was informed by The Royal British Legion in Norwich (the venue for the Friday April 8 EVE DVD Tapings) that the venue was cancelling the event. The reason we were initially given was that there had been complaints made to the police about the venue holding a women's wrestling event. These complaints lead to the Police Licensing Department investigating the venue thus the venue cancelled the upcoming show. It has since emerged that the Royal British Legion who have regular wrestling events at their venue supplied to them by British wrestling legend 'Rowdy' Ricky Knight did not have the sufficient licensing in place as claimed by the venue management upon accepting the hiring of the venue. EVE Management scrambled to find a replacement venue so as to not cancel and after a few hours we struck gold thanks to our good friends at Project Nightclub on Riverside in Norwich City. Project Nightclub is also the setting for the after show party! Due to the venue change however we have had to change the start times of the evenings event. The Friday April 8 Pro-Wrestling:EVE event which now takes place at Project Nightclub on the Riverside in Norwich will now open doors at 6pm with first bell at 6.30pm. We would also like to make it clear that it is still a family show. Tickets will be available to purchase on the doors or are available to purchase in advance from www.EVEwrestling.comShould anyone have any questions please feel free to call 07707 087100 or email info@EVEwrestling.com

Thank goodness everything got sorted out. It's just an absolutely ludicrous scenario for anyone to face just less than a week before an event.

Silly me did not realise how far apart Norwich and Sudbury were! Changed part of my accommodation to make sure there's no problems.

For any UK followers, Emily Read was on BBC Norfolk today on their drivetime show about 12 minutes before the end of the show. Go to the BBC Norfolk Radio site and it's the 7th April show starting at 4pm. It's around 1:48 in.

Last minute venue looks like a cool little place for a show. Ringbelles has full results from night one. Tourney concludes on Saturday. Semi-Finals are... Nikki Storm vs. Alpha Female Britani Knight vs. Jetta

My pick for the title - Alpha Female!! Assuming the final's gonna be face vs heel, I'm still crossing me fingers for a Britani vs Nikki final. That just sounds like a better match than Jetta vs Alpha. Good night tonight. If I'm being honest, I think some of the matches did suffer from the busy card and what could have been really classic bouts ended up just being very good, mainly due to how long they had. Not Eve's very best show, but they've set themselves very high standards up until now. And even an 'average' Eve show (by those standards) is a fantastic night out.
