All four from May will be ready by the fall taping this year as well. I shouldn't post before going to bed.

I'll probably wait and pick up 23 and 24 at ROH Chicago. If I can wait that long.
Then, with some luck, 25 and 26 will be out by Collinsville in October

No plans for a trailer, but we may post some brief clips online as each one is released.

So am I the only person who's received this already?
Good volume, I thought, and felt fresh with the new names and the change in the booth.
I may as well start with that, in fact. I like Danger as a commentator, and the team of DP & AD are a hell of a fun unit. In fact, when I heard that Portia Perez was coming on board in lieu of Danger, I wasn't particularly happy about the change. However... having watched Portia's performance, and at the risk of getting my arse kicked by Danger in November, I have to admit, I really liked the new dynamic. Portia brought what Danger never did - a heel voice. I think it helped the show to have that tension between the commentators, as it helped bring out the heel/face dynamic in the matches, as Portia would invariably back the heels, conveniently "miss" any cheating ("I think my monitor went out for a second there...") and add a different viewpoint ("That's LEGAL in Canada, Prazak!!"). She seemed pretty natural too, so much NINJA respect to Perez.
Every man has a Catwoman fantasy, doesn't he? And Holy Hell is Cat Power ever playing into that one with her new outfit. She looked fantastic. Speaking of looking great, Nikki's extended morph back from Roxxi to the Nikki Roxx that we know and love is coming along nicely... and speaking of gear, can we please ditch the horrible plaid 3/4 length pants gimmick? I fully endorse a switch back to the tie-dye gear, please. Thanks. Nikki wins a fun opener, and it occurs to me that given that she's back and has no worries about TNA yanking her from bookings in the future, I'm more than ready to see Nikki move back up the cards towards the main event.
Amber O'Neal vs Tenille wasn't a super match or anything, but I did get a kick out of some of it. Amber's stretching of Tenille in that surfboard-y type thing is the best new move I've seen in ages. Tenille looked fine for a rookie, though had the hesitancy that comes from inexperience. I've seen four of Lance Storm's trainees here in the UK and every one knows what they're doing, so I've got high hopes that Tenille will develop along nicely. Joey's introduction of Amber was awesome too. I don't remember if that's the first time she's been introduced like that or not, but I liked it.
The opening of Daffney vs Melanie Cruise was awesome. If you've seen it, you'll know what I mean. Brilliant. Match itself wasn't much. Melanie was looking quite good as the mean bigger girl, then the finish came out of nowhere with the Daff-Knees. Didn't do a lot for Melanie, but she did gain a new manager in the form of Annie Social.
Sara Del Rey vs Madison Eagles was great. Strong match, though I got the impression that they have an even better match to come. It's a testament to Eagles that she's able to hang on an equal footing with Death Rey. Good stuff.
There was much hoopla over the debut of the "Rate Tank" Kellie Skater, so I was looking forward to seeing her. I must admit, I forgot entirely who she was facing until LuFisto bounded out through the curtain... damn. Was a quick match, taken mostly by LuFi. I'm still not sure what a "Rate Tank" is supposed to be (even Dave and Portia discussed this), other than that she's supposed to be Indie-Structible. Just as well, as LuFi killed her with a Burning Hammer. Quick, fun. Don't quite get Skater yet though.
Someone I *do* get is Nicole Matthews. There's something about her in-ring charisma that draws me in - and she backs that up by being a hell of a good wrestler as well for her limited years in the ring. Mention was made during commentary of how Rebecca Knox was one of Matthews' initial trainers up in Canada. I guess that would have been ECCW. Interesting comparison, as both so clearly get it, and both are prodigiously talented for their young ages. Anyway - this match was your SHIMMER equivalent of Flair/Sting from Clash I, with the young wrestler taking the established main eventer to the time limit. Yeah, so Matthews didn't beat Haze, but Haze also didn't beat Matthews - and so Matthews' stock rises a lot. Perez makes sure to mention that this proves how Matthews has a "main event performance in her", and I'm absolutely jumping on that bandwagon. Not quite yet, as there's still plenty to do as a tag team, but yeah... Matthews = Rules.
I tend to try and forget as much about results as I can once I read them the first time, and I'd (a) totally forgotten that Amazing Kong fought Mercedes Martinez, and (b) totally forgotten who won. Okay, so chances are it was Kong as she's never been made to submit or been pinned to date in SHIMMER - but dammit, this was Mercedes, and over the course of this match, she MADE me want her to win. A fine match, and I love seeing Kong in "important" matches like this - or the one with Wesna - than in random meaningless matches against the likes of Rachel Summerlyn and Lorelei Lee.
Lacey's return at the end of the first fall of the 2/3 falls SHIMMER Tag Title match was anticlimactic. I dunno - I guess it worked in a "surprise!!" type of way, but seeing her return doing a run-in to assist a roll-up seemed just a bit of a non event. I think I'd have preferred the IHWC had made a big deal out of the return and announced her at the beginning. She could still have made the difference at the end of the first fall. The rest of the match was fine, but I HAAAAATED the finish. Oh man... just brutal Dusty booking. What happened to "referee's decision is final"? The Home Wreckers had been announced champs... then the other referee comes in to explain that they cheated and the match gets restarted? Horrible. And now that this has been established, I expect to see Gorie (or whoever) run out as a second pair of eyes every time someone cheats in the future. Portia was APPALLED on commentary, as was I.
Wesna and Melissa, then. Wow, the battles I've seen with these two, up close and personal. This match was a pole apart from everything else on the show to this point - and I'm not saying that in order to say that this was miles better than everything else... I just mean in the tone and style of the match. This was intense. It felt, in some ways, like a re-start of the rivalry rather than a continuation, which was fine in this instance because that's kind of what it is. While the rivalry had reached the point where they were knocking seven shades of **** out of each other with everything that wasn't nailed down in the UK, this wasn't quite as brutal. I know there's a rematch on an already recorded volume, and I'm not quite sure whether they do it in that match or not, but I dearly hope that the Eagles Club gets to witness the full ferocity of a hall-wide brawl between these two at some point (and that I'm in attendance).
I didn't envy MsChif and Serena having to follow Wesna vs Melissa. They did well, though I must admit that I never really felt that Serena was going to win - which is funny because before the tapings I would have put money on that she was going to win. Finish seemed a bit out of nowhere again. The post match was very effective though, and I want to see that tag match really badly now!
So yeah, good volume, and given that I've just spent several hundred pounds booking flights and hotel for a return to Berwyn in November, a timely reminder of the promotion that I love. Haze/Matthews and Wesna/Melissa were your standouts, with Del Rey/Eagles and Deeb/Chif in strong support. More than worth your fifteen bucks.

Don't worry Nikki is selling the Plaid Gear, I hear she is getting new ones made. We'll see them in November.
Anyways, one question, does Danger usually do her commentary after the shows? I'm only asking because Portia was flown into Florida to do the commentary. If Danger is flown into Florida to commentate afterwards why doesn't she call her own matches.

If Danger is flown into Florida to commentate afterwards why doesn't she call her own matches. None of the commentary is done live. It's all added in post-production. Danger doesn't do commentary on her own matches because, though the announcers don't outright lie and say they're doing the commentary live, it's pretty obvious that they're trying to give their comments as much of a "live feeling" as possible. Why is this done? I obviously don't know because I don't work for SHIMMER, but I would assume it's just because it's what wrestling fans are used to. I don't think I've ever heard of a promotion that has announcers call a taped show as though it were something that actually happened in the past. Even in PWG, where wrestlers do call their own matches from time to time, the guys still announce everything as though it is unfolding right before their eyes for the first time.

So are you saying Danger and Prazak are actually backstage somewhere the entire time watching the action.

Are you seriously saying that up until right now you thought the commentary in SHIMMER was done live on the day/night?

I just found some old WWF VHSs which, for some bizarre reason, have all new commentary on them and are being called as if in the future. It might only be for the Return of the Ultimate Warrior video actually, with an eye to bigging him up more than he was at the time.

All of the commentary is recorded later in a studio in Florida. Prazak and Danger are in the building doing various things that need to be done, none of which are announcing.

I've ever heard that during the yearly WWE Tribute to the Troops broadcast. The announcers introduce themselves as calling the show from the WWE Studios. I also remember some WWE DVDs released that had full matches as extras, where current announcers recommentated on old matches. I vividly remember Michael Cole and Tazz broadcasting a Wild Pegas match from the late 80s, early 90s on the Chris Benoit DVD set. They called the moves as they happened, but also talked about Benoit's career in Japan at that point.

I was referring more to a promotion's first run presentation of its own product on tape delay, not a compilation that is obviously highlighting matches from fifteen or twenty years ago. There are a few other examples of WWE DVDs like the one you mention. There was an Andre the Giant DVD released a few years back which was essentially a transfer of an old Coliseum Video except that Michael Cole and Taz were dubbed over the original commentary of one match. Obviously they didn't call it live. Pat Patterson and Sgt. Slaughter also did alternate commentary for their "alley brawl" match (or whatever it was called) when that got released on the Hall of Fame DVD.
